The Domaine de Grand Baie in Mauritius offers a pleasant and comfortable stay. The property is new, the rooms are spacious and well furnished, perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach. A little extra attention when cleaning the rooms would make it even better. The indoor pool is a highlight, ideal for a refreshing dip. Although shared balconies limit privacy a bit, the attentive service and courtesy of the staff, who always respond with a smile, compensate for this. The quality of the food is good, with dishes that satisfy both the local and international palate. Despite the fact that the property is not by the sea, the location is still convenient for exploring the northern beaches, with a shopping center within walking distance.

We stayed for two weeks in September in a studio.
The area is magnificent, it is a shame that the swimming pool is in the shade most of the time, it should have been located on the garden side. But hey, it’s very well made up for by the heated indoor swimming pool and the spa! And then we are not there during the day generally thanks to the activities.
A bigger and better equipped gym would have been great.
The hotel is a little out of the way but the shuttle service which serves the beaches and nearby towns is a big positive point which cancels out the previous aspect.
Likewise, one of the big advantages of this hotel is Jean Pierre: a joie de vivre and constant professionalism, we had arrived at the end of the week and had already prepared activities, he changed his schedule according to ours to accompany us to the places we wanted to visit (Port Louis and grapefruit), travelers listen to his advice during your stay.
The studio is large and a washing machine is available, the cleaning lady we had was very friendly and did her job very well (I even had the right to a pretty decoration on my birthday without asking for anything)
The staff in general are very friendly and attentive. The director took the time to go around to everyone during the cocktails offered to ask how their stay was going.

Advice :
Breakfast formula is enough, you have two malls 2 minutes away and 5 minutes away on foot to eat much cheaper than the hotel and just as good

Use tourist cars (negotiate it’s the same price as the bus in general)

Do not take activities with the hotel it is too expensive but take with local people who offer in the shops near the Super U (served by the shuttles)

You can rent taxis for the day (60 euros max for 2)

Mauritius is a small island but in 14 days we did one activity per day (2 days “rest”) you weren’t bored.

All this to say that we really enjoyed this stay in Mauritius and that the area was very good, it is excellent value for money.

I booked a 2 nights stay for a studio for my birthday and had a terrible precheckin experience, and at my arrival at the property the staff could not find my reservation. After 45min wait and a free cocktail, the receptionist, Riyadh, gave me the last room available and I was happily surprised by an upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment very spacious and well decorated. I had room service and the food was delicious (I had the fish of the day and the bounty). I had a lovely night of sleep and it was too dark when I arrived to see but I was delighted to find in the morning that the room was equipped with a Jacuzzi on the spacious balcony that I enjoyed during my stay. So my experience was definitly improved. The staff was ok and helpful to their best capacities but lack a bit of smile and friendliness. The breakfast was good and had everything I needed. The pool was simple but functional. And the spa by softys was nice as well, the hostess Pretti was very nice and it was a good experience with the foot/legs massage.
The location is not walking friendly, better to have a car as the bus system is not very elaborate, even google cannot help and a taxi can cost you a lot. There is a mall within 5 min walk and a bigger one across the road another 10min away which are nice to have a walk around. Then if you want to take the bus passing there, you can ask to locals to help you. Overall, even though it was based on luck, I had a nice in house experience. I would recommend but would advise to check that the reservation is active before arrival.

Our 4th visit to this self-catering/hotel experience. I have to say I have never witnessed a 'resort' go downhill so fast. We first went when it open about 2.5 years ago and loved it thinking that as resident in Mauritius this will be our go-to weekend away place. But never again ! The French manageress has absolutely no idea what is going on, fact ! She was rude and argumentative, and told us she did not believe what we were telling her. The steam room had not worked for 2 months according to permanent residence there, and she did not know, and did not believe me when I told her. The sauna is not cleaned over the entire long weekend, and we had complained about this before. You are not allowed to wear slops or sandals into the indoor pool/ steam /sauna area, I have had athlete's foot twice now with in a few days of being in the sauna.
We told her the safe in the room does not work, she said what do we expect the hotel is now 2 years old !!
We told her that someone had been boiling food in the kettle in our room and it had not been cleaned, she said well one cannot expect the staff to find every bit of dirt. The counters and table tops in our room were filthy. The staff in the restaurant are dismal, the alcohol in the restaurant and bar is the most expensive in Mauritius, FACT ! I have lived here for 10 years and go for weekends away once a month. NEVER AGAIN will I be ripped off by this place, shocking, it is actually cheaper to stay in a hotel.

We went as a family and had a pleasant stay at Domaine de Grand Baie. The rooms are spacious, bright and clean, cleaning is done every day contrary to a writing in the bathroom which specifies that cleaning will be done only once a week.
The hotel is located close to a shopping center but a little further from Grand Baie beach and its city center, a shuttle is available free of charge (on registration) to the city center and especially Mont Choisy beach. which is a really nice beach.
We had half board, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the different themed buffets each evening, allowing us to discover new flavors. Thank you to the entire catering team who took great care.
We had a small cocktail every evening, a delight, always well made.
The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and an indoor swimming pool and its spa, the only negative point is the lack of deckchairs at the swimming pool.
Top notch spa massage.

Beautiful facility, great interior design and furnishings. Lots of secure parking spaces, great pool, large balcony.
The facility has only been in operation for about a year, however, and already has a number of defects and signs of wear and tear.
When we arrived, our room was not really clean. The toilets and showers did not look clean, the joints were already yellowed. The wardrobe was damaged (the shelf had broken through), there were a lot of hairs on the floor, the pillows had stains, there were a few small animals in the kitchen, the couch panel had broken off and was temporarily attached with two nails. When we asked, someone came to our room to clean it up, the floor was OK afterwards, the bathroom was quickly wiped down with a dry cloth...
The buffet was OK but not a highlight. Service leaves a lot to be desired. One evening we were not even offered drinks (we did get a glass of champagne as compensation), but otherwise we were not really asked if we wanted anything else.
We probably wouldn't book again.

What we liked? Everything:

The staff: all are exceptionally kind and helpful. Ryan was amazing, efficient, caring and very kind. The director even came to see each resident on the dating night to get to know us and make sure everything was okay.

- The room: very well equipped, large and clean. The 160 bed is very comfortable, the bathroom is huge, the large fridge and the washer/dryer are essential for a long stay.

- Services: a SPA with wonderful inexpensive massages at your disposal, a large swimming pool with comfortable deckchairs, a pool bar and bar with delicious cocktails.

- Catering: a different theme buffet every day and every week. The choice is not mirobolant but everything is homemade (except a few desserts). Everything is excellent and varied. The same for breakfast!

- The location: It is not on the beach but we knew it and it suited us very well: more authentic and simpler. Parking is large and free, so you can easily accommodate your car there. There is everything you need next door: Shops, large shopping center, gas station and northern beaches.

To be a bit fussy: the wifi was not optimal in our room, and it would be very nice to be able to copy the screen of an iphone on the TV.

In brief: PERFECT, we will return on a next Mauritian trip.

This hotel is just outside in a very unattractive area. Therefore, most of the views of the rooms, which probably all have a balcony, are not particularly inviting. Parking sufficiently large, car rental is advisable. However, if you arrive without a rental car, the hotel offers a regular shuttle service to two or three different beaches. The hotel has a very nice indoor pool with a bar. However, with full Booking Referral the number of sun loungers seems very small. I had breakfast and dinner included without knowing it. Since I like to drink a cappuccino from the strainer carrier machine in the morning, I have skipped breakfast. I always go to sunset.
In the evening I prefer to eat with a view of the sea, so no statement can be made about the food in the hotel. The room was great!!! Probably built only two years ago, it is very, very large and technically very fully furnished. Very clean, very aesthetic. The hammer for me was this great mattress. A really great product.
As my previous evaluator has already written, a few small things are damaged and need to be repaired, but this does not seem to be the focus of management. Request to the hotel to please send me directions was simply not answered. My mail with photos about the small defects was also not answered. Communication is a disaster.
I recommend the recession of Neeraj S from September 2024, who spent 9 days there. Nevertheless, I have stayed in different hotels in Mauritius, it already has a high class.

The hotel is brand new with great facilities like fantastic garden and a nice pool. It is also located in a very nice location in Grand Baie, not on the beach, but only 2 km away, and there is a nice mall "Le Croisette" that is about 5 min walk from it. My suite was spacious and comfortable with a living room that has a kitchenette with a microwave and a fridge and a beautiful balcony. The bathroom/shower is spacious and it has a washing machine so that was nice, while the toilette in the other side of the suite and it was clean and of a good size. The room has the most spacious closet I have had in a hotel in recent memory, and I loved my bed too. There are plenty of spaces in the parking to accomodate guests, and overall the hotel facility are so beautiful and the staff are very polite.

Now let's talk about the things I didn't like:

Hotel facilities, and staff: check-in process is not as quick as I wanted it to be. I see housekeeping staff working hard but the cleaning could use some improvement, and perhaps the management can train them better, for instance there were ants in the room, and the floor was sticky even after cleaning, and I don't know how the management can't fix the problem in a brand new hotel. Also the room has no guest guide for the amenities of the hotel except the spa, and even the speed dials on the phone don't work and there is no directory to tell you what number to dial for front desk or room service. These details should be available for guests in any hotel whether it was 5 stars or 2 stars. Also the hotel can use a concierge service or at least offers some pamphlets to help the guests.
Breakfast is adequate but not particularly memorable and for our week long stay the same food was offered over and over again with no change to buffet, which was kind of boring. The staff also need training on setting up tables because every time we had to ask for napkins and cutleries (EVERYTIME) which is not supposed to be that way in a hotel.
The bathroom and the toilettes are separate and are not in the same space which might be a plus for some people but for me personally I would have loved them to be in the same space.
Wi-Fi: it was there and signal is strong but absolutely useless so we relied on our data plans which we bought from the airport, but to be fair, we haven't complained, so maybe the could have fixed the problem.

I LOVE THIS PROPERTY, everything about it, from the location, staff, service offering, the hotel/apart concept everything was just exceptional, we were treated like royalty, this felt like home and more so for my market/clients as this is the type of concept they request often, Domaine can do both, relaxed apart style as well as the fine dining elegant yet follow through with simplicity is key. The meals prepared were magnificent, the staff/waiters were warm and felt like family, the rooms perfectly set up for apart style living, no beach BUT shuttles to the beach make up for no beach at the property, the shopping Centre being within walking distance, the emergency being just across the street is perfect for those anxious travellers with or without kids, I personally took a walk in the community of Grand Baie with Jean-pierre who kindly offered to take me,this moved my heart and soul tremendously and made me fall deeper inlove with MRU for all that is seen and unseen.
Domaine has everything one needs when wanting to book a apart style vacation, kitchennet, balcony, lougne, dinning space, bathroom outside of the room, bathroom in the bedroom, closet, washing machin, stove, and even a dishwasher!!!!!
This is a perfect sell for my clients.
Saheed and his team are outstanding, everything about the team felt safe and nothing was ever to much to ask for!!!!!
