Amazing hotel, good location. Food is very good, fresh, very well prepared. Everything is maintained , clean and tidy. Staff is friendly, helpful and nice to chat. Rooms are big, really big, clean. You can go on a nice walk down the beach and explore. House reef is alive, blooming with life, you will see sting rays, eagle rays, squids etc. and the best part is that dolphins came to us while we were snorkelling. They also have one of the best dive shops. We just loved staying here and we will come back soon! Book a sea view room. If you book pool view you will be across the street.

When we first arrived at the Flamenco, we wondered why it received so many excellent ratings. We booked a room with ocean view but were assigned one on the ground floor and were a little disappointed. But after a visit to the reception and a short conversation, we were immediately assigned a much nicer room on third floor and we came to understand why this resort in El-Quseir, about one bus hour North of Marsa Alam, was so well received by its visitors. While the hotel itself did not seem remarkably special or glamourous at first glance, being split by a road into a beach and a garden section, the dedicated and friendly staff made our stay one of the most pleasant ones in Egypt. Beginning with the hearty employees at the tidy beach and not ending with the kitchen staff, even friendships ensued from our conversations with Karem, chef cook and Mohamed, grill chef and true master of his trade (just try his incredible grilled quail and chicken!). We also enjoyed the warm and welcoming attitude of Mohamed, buffet and food manager and his assistant, Ahmed. I also spent some hearty time with Mohamed, the breakfast chef preparing tasty omelets and eggs who is from Nubian heritage. While we enjoyed the contact with everyone, the staff was never intrusive or even aggressive, which also applied to the operators of the Beauty parlor, Eiman and Mohamed (face and pedicure treatment recommended!) and the hotel Spa employees. Thank you! During our stay in beginning of February, we especially valued the calmness and absence of noisy fitness and entertainment programs, although this might be different during holiday season. Activity-wise, the hotel has a small but clean and modern fitness area, offers free ping-pong table and access to the local coral reef, which we sadly couldn’t explore due to the strong winds and waves often encountered during spring. We also played pool billiards, which is 30 L.E. (about 1.50 €) per hour. Room cleaning was excellent, with amazing and creative towel sculptures found upon returning to our room every day. We will never forget the monkey hanging on a coat hanger and the elephant made from a blanket, pillows and plastic bottle caps for eyes. We visited Egypt in a troubled time and the impact of political events on the tourism industry could be felt and also explains the very affordable price we paid for our visit. The local people are very dependent on the income from tourism and have struggled in the wake of the severe value decline of the Egyptian pound. Hence, many services are offered in Euros or Dollars and may seem a little steep at first. But when considering vacation total costs, they are still very low and seeing how dependent the locals are, we gladly often paid a little more or gave tips to especially the less recognized staff. The biggest point of criticism we had concerned the Wifi Internet access. Not free, it came at a considerably high price (10€ for 5 GByte with limited dial-up/online time and access for a single device at a time) and coverage was poor (Reception and Pool area only). Improving the nowadays vital internet access would be a minor effort but give so much more value to the quality of a visit. A minor thing involves the local beach, it is quite rocky and the water is very shallow up to the riff. There is a number of sun roofed sunloungers and wind blocks. The beach staff provides clean pillows and towels free of charge. There is a second private beach supposedly with fine sand that is reachable via a regular shuttle bus, which we did not visit. All in all, this will not be our last visit to Flamenco and El-Quseir and we warmly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing time-out to recharge their inner batteries. The resort is well-guarded and we never felt unsafe in the region, including down-town El-Quseir. A hearty “alf shokran” (1000 thanks) to all the kind people we met and who made our stay special!
