We have gone to Rydin Hy for 14 years every early June. Amazing down home experience. Love clean safe rooms, great lodge, amazing crew handling 80+ horses, fun rides, swimming pool, boat rides, catching fish on pontoon boat, hiking, family style food. We love this place and experience. Love parking car and walking anywhere close for 3 days. The staff all family are awesome.

This is a great all-inclusive family ranch that includes skiing, horse back riding, tubing, a sports center and bounce, swimming, and ATV rides.
Pros: the staff are very friendly and attentive. From the ski lounge staff (great sense of humor), to the ski instructors (helpful to the kids and necessary for our family), to the servers (go out of their way to help), and to the rest of the staff, everyone was great.
The activities during the day are fun.
Con: there isn't much to do after 4pm, when the outdoor activities shut down. Kids can go to the game room, but if you come alone, without a group of friends, you don't have much to do.

The food is good, but not great. Breakfast is a buffet, and you can order additional food for more options. Lunch and dinner are off a limited menu.
The room is basic, which is a good experience. The shower makes noise, though.
The dog, Daisy, is so cute!
We spent a lot of time at the petting zoo bar, as well, with the donkey, the goats, and the alpacas.

We just came back from amazing 3 days at the ranch. I wasn't sure what to expect since I've never heard of this place, and everyone around me always goes to the other place, that charges twice as much. We were all pleasantly surprised by everything! The room was very big, there were so many activities we were jumping from place to place and still didn't get to it all. The decor of the lodge is great and really gets you in the ranch atmosphere. We liked the horseback riding, the cheap drinks, the archery and especially liked how healthy and happy the horses looked.
I can't wait to go back, maybe during the summer so we can enjoy the lake.
We are a family with food allergies and I love how seriously they took it!

Not so amazing:
- wasn't too crazy about the food (don't think I saw a vegetable the whole time I was there :-)). But non of us was left hungry.
- you can't lock the room.. it wasn't the best feeling

The last time we visited Ridin-Hy was in 2005. Not sure why we waited so long to return but we spent a lovely four nights at the ranch in September 2021. It was as quaint and wholesome as we remembered, but with the added bonus of several new buildings.

Like last time, the horses were well kept and healthy. We enjoyed visiting with the farm animals as well as using the recreational facilities (shuffleboard, horseshoes, bocce, indoor/outdoor basketball, mechanical bull, rock wall, etc). We stayed in one of the chalets which was the perfect size for me and my husband (upstairs) and my mother (downstairs). My in-laws stayed in one of the new motel rooms attached to the lodge and they enjoyed themselves as well, though the rooms on the back half of the building do not have any view (except of the parking lot) versus the lakeside rooms which have a gorgeous view of Sherman Lake.

We really appreciate all the little activities that the resort offers all day. You can choose to participate in what you want without feeling like you're missing out on a ranch-wide event if you decide to leave the ranch or just have a more sedentary day.

Finally, a shout out to the hard working staff who were beyond helpful. Everyone from the front desk to the waitstaff to the activies director to the housekeeping staff were all simply wonderful. The pandemic has created a labor shortage (especially in terms of international workers) and Ridin Hy is clearly working with a reduced staff, but the employees they have are working extra hard to make sure that every guest has a great time.

We won't wait another 16 years to return. Ridin Hy is a gem.

My husband came here years ago with my two step children and thought it would be a great vacation spot for us, with a three and a six year old. The weather was perfect the three days we went. Tons of outdoor activities-which is much needed with our extremely active 6 year old. They had horseback riding, lake swimming, indoor pool, boating, archery, and outdoor games (shuffleboard, tennis, pickle ball, basketball, etc.) There are also activities almost every hour that you can participate in, or not. There are also some activities you have to sign up for: rock climbing, riding lessons, pontoon boat rides, water skiing, mechanical bull. The staff was friendly and helpful. The riding instructors were great and very encouraging. They had ice available for coolers and coffee and tea (and a sweet treat like cake or cookies) available most of the day. The food was just so-so. Our first night was a BBQ and that was good. The other two nights didn’t have many options that I was interested in: fried seafood, pork, pot roast, fettuccine Alfredo, etc. We are healthy eaters and wished there was at least one healthy item on the menus for each meal. Breakfast had many options, and that was usually our best meal there. My kids loved the desserts for lunch AND dinner! We stayed for three nights. It seems like many of the people staying were there for a week. Three days was the perfect amount for us, at this point. Next time, we might add on another day. Highly recommended Ridin Hy!

We originally planned a two-night stay but liked the place so much we added another night. The lodge was fun to hang out in and was a nice combination of "log cabin meets new/modern". They had rowboats, canoes paddleboards, and kayaks as well as shuffleboard, horseshoes, tennis, and basketball. We also did a hay ride and horseback riding.
The staff was really friendly and the rooms were clean. The drink prices at the lodge were really reasonable and not what you'd expect at a resort. The bar also had several TV's with the NFL Sunday Ticket which made Sunday a great day.
We plan to go back for a winter stay for snowmobiling or ATV trail rides.
Three things could have been better though.
1. The room rates (I think) go by the room capacity. Our room slept 5 or 6, but there were only two of us. The smaller cabins were unavailable, so we just went ahead and booked the larger room which would have been great if we had more people but was kind of pricy for just two.
2. The adjoining rooms have NOTHING separating them but a thin wall, and if you are there to relax and get a loud "neighbor" forget about sleeping. The room next to us was vacant the first night, but the next two nights there was so much noise from next door until after 11:00, and then it started again at 6:00 AM. Our next stay will will rent a stand-alone cabin or we will not go.
3. Some meals were buffet's and others you order at your table. The buffet's were pretty good, especially the breakfast ones. We did not know which meals would be buffet's and which would be table orders (but that might be something I missed). The meals ordered from the table were not very good at all. It was like school cafeteria food. There is no snack bar or food available at the bar (anywhere) in between meals. This is not a huge deal now that we know and we can bring our own, but we did not know this on our first visit. They did offer food at the lodge at night (hot dogs, pizza) but it was just a little late for us so we did not attend. And they did have a couple snack event like cheese and crackers, but as far as being able to grab something to eat when you wanted, it was not available.
The fact that we will be going back and still gave this place a 4/5 says a lot, and has a lot to do with the fact that the noisy room, large vs. small room, and availability of snacks would not be an issue next time now that we know. Hopefully these notes might help you in planning your trip.

We loved our 3 night stay at this all-inclusive horse ranch. We were able to ride on the afternoon of our arrival and also the morning of departure as well as mornings and afternoons each day. There were lots of gentle horses to choose from and the guides always made sure we had safe rides on the beautiful mountain trails. The food was delicious with plenty of choices and great service. The chalet we stayed in was very comfy and clean. Lots of other activities at the lake and around to participate in. Really a nice place to visit and we enjoyed everything about Ridin Hy Ranch and will be back!!

My family has been enjoying Ridin Hy Ranch for years. We stay at the ranch every February and stop by to visit in the summer when we are in the area camping. Each season offers its own amazing activities at the ranch. Every day a new activity schedule is posted. You can participate in the many offerings throughout the day or just do your own thing including horseback trail rides and skiing (they provide all equipment) or tubing. They even have an indoor pool and jacuzzi. New additions to RHR this year included a mechanical bull, indoor archery and a rock wall. All activities and meals are included (besides game room and bar).

We like to vacation in the winter since my son loves the snowmobiles. Chris and Adam are the guides that run the snowmobiles (and brand new side by side UTV’s depending on the snow conditions). They are probably my Son’s favorite people in the world. Both of my children are nonverbal and have Autism and the staff at the ranch always treat them with patience, respect and kindness. My son will spend hours riding each day and Chris and Adam always make it fun and special trip after trip. If you have your own toys you can bring them as well. There are plenty of trails to ride on the ranch property.

Truth be told, all of the staff work extremely hard and go above and beyond. Peggy at the front desk is very helpful and can answer any questions you may have or help you sign up for trail rides etc. The bartenders (Tim and Matt) wait for my kids to use their iPads to order beverages. (The drinks are insanely cheap BTW) and usually run the nightly bingo games. The waitstaff are super friendly and always make sure you have everything you need. All of the meals are included and you can Easily find an option to please even the pickiest eaters. In addition the ranch provides a late night snack (varies each night..pizza party, sundae bar, nachos).

We highly recommend checking out Ridin Hy Ranch. It is a truly unique experience in the beautiful Adirondack mountains. I say screw the fancy theme parks in Florida… this is the happiest place on Earth!

friendly people, great customer service. clean, well kept, immaculate grounds and buildings. Loved the horseback riding. so great they checked cinch of saddle every time, which I really appreciated that as I was once upside down under the horse on a trail ride years ago. always paid attention to riders, and readied us for faster pace. great meals, activities and people. will definitely be back next year!!! Loved it, thanks!!

My family and I are from Brooklyn NY. We usually go to the Poconos to get away from the madness of the city. However, I wanted a little more peace and quiet and a lot of nature and scenery. This resort did not let us down. The rooms were clean, the food was good and the activities especially the horses were amazing. The dinning room staff(hello Valerie and Victoria) took time to engage us with conversations, answering every question that was asked. It was an experience we will definitely repeat, hoping to go back during the winter months. Only negative was the 4hr drive up but will mostly take the train next time.

They only allow cannabis in smoking areas I believe. Edibles are an option or a walk into the woods. They are very laid back I doubt you would be bothered. Enjoy
