Pack basket has a Beautiful lodge, wonderful hosts, you look outside at the river while eating breakfast, gorgeous setting, spotless rooms, great hospitality, highly recommended and we will be back again
I had a short but enjoyable and entertaining evening with Rich and his wife and the other guests at Packbasket. The lodging is quintessential Adirondacks and the hosts will do anything to make your stay memorable. The rooms are fresh, super clean and have that pine aroma from the logs. The food is delicious and all homemade from fresh local ingredients. Rich’s stories are very entertaining and get better each time he tells them for sure. I stayed there before conquering the Cranberry Lake 50 hike and Rich gave great insight into the trail and history. Beautiful place and beautiful people.
Our family recently stayed for a week at the Packbasket lodge. We enjoyed every single part of our stay. Rick and Angie are amazing hosts!! It felt like staying at a new-old friend’s place. They went out of their way to please my 11 year old’s tastes for breakfast. My wife and I are vegetarian and they had really good veggie options for us. We truly appreciated it. The quality of the breakfasts was that of a high end restaurant. Rick was so attentive to my son, sharing daily stories during breakfast about his Adk adventures and funny moments. Koen was the only minor in the lodge and Rick made him feel at home amongst all the adults. Angie bakes fresh cookies and she noticed the ones that Koen liked and she made sure the cookie jar was always filled with his favorites! She is an angel. As hosts, they were as wonderful as their lodge. Their lodge is impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. Their attention to detail is seen all around the lodge. From matching bedding with curtains, to carved Adk animals on the doors, to coffee, tea, and ice available 24 hrs a day, to the grand masonry heater in the big room (we need to come back in winter to taste some of the baked goods!). The rooms are spacious. The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. I did not mentioned this to them, but my father was a hotelier for over 40 years. I grew up in and around hotels and learned to have a keen eye to service and property upkeep. The Packbasket lodge is among those places I would want to go back again and again for the nature, the space, the location, but most of all for the people. One of our favorite spaces was the screened-in porch where we had our afternoon hummingbird viewing. There we ate dinner and played cards all while listening to the Oswegatchie river flowing in the backyard. Koen enjoyed building fires on the riverfront fire ring. I liked the relaxing ambiance of feeling right at home. We are already planning our next visit and will surely come back with family and friends. Rick and Angie, you have a magical place and we thank you for making all this possible. …
The proprietors Rick and Angie have made a magnificent and comfortable getaway next to the Oswagatchee river and Cranberry Lake Rick in Angie’s recipes and cooking is fabulous and they will accommodate any sort of special dietary needs. We have been coming there for quite a number of years for a cross-country ski and snowshoe weekend.
The place is beautiful, rooms are very nice, modern, and clean and the hosts are very friendly and helpful in finding nice activities and trails in the area. We also had dinner and breakfast - gourmet cooking with very friendly, home like atmosphere! In short - highly recommended!
