I just stayed overnight on a Thursday eve for business (8/13-8/14), and I was disappointed. What I thought would be a grand hotel (for which I was charged a grand rate for - $185.00, total), turned out to have lost its luster. Here are the pros & cons: PROs - Loved the Panoramic Room (Room 708) - The quesadilla at the Iconic Restaurant was SUPERB - You cannot hear any other guests when you're in your room (due to solid construction methods & materials from yesteryear) CONs - The Nightly rate was too high, considering COVID-19 has really dampened the hotel's spirits (e.g. closed the gym; limited breakfast choices to bleh) - Garbage Truck @4:00 a.m. (southeast side of the building!!) Avoid!! - Street Cleaner @3:00 a.m. (with a screeching noise!!! Oy!!) - Hilton needs to clean all the windows in the hotel (they're all filthy!!) - No Turner Classic Movies (TCM) selection (It's a classic hotel - Please have classic movies!!!!) - No pen & paper provided in the room (you have to go to the front desk) - No discount given to me to stay a second night (So I left!) - The guy at the front desk was wooden/too robotic! - White Noise/Sound Machines should be provided to guests with rooms facing the garbage area and/or Genesee Street Until all amenities are open/offered, and until they do a thorough cleaning of the lobby area (it looked dingy), and all the windows, the nightly rates should be lower.

Hi GemGirl1966, Thanks for your feedback, I'm glad to hear how you appreciated the sound dampening between rooms, the old cement and stone construction definitely helps provide the most quiet hotel in the city. We haven't heard others really noticing street cleaners, but we'll make sure windows were properly closed and locked. I'd also recommend checking out Turner Classic Movies.com and streaming from your device! With the Hilton Cleanstay program we have removed items from the room that may have been handled by a previous guest, pens, glassware, towels and linens, etc, so you know your room is totally disinfected!

Hotel's Favorite
Second time visiting the Double Tree by Hilton Utica. The hotel is located in downtown Utica with quick access to Routes 5, 5A, 12 and 8. Hotel is a five to ten minute drive from the New York State Thruway, Interstate 90. Traffic noise is minimal on higher floors. Please be advised, a major Mohawk Valley Health System medical center to replace existing St. Elizabeth Medical Center will be constructed one block from the hotel and will tentatively be completed in February 2023. Lobby and Mezzanine are decorated in twentieth century art deco with spectacular crystal chandeliers (see pics). The hotel is located a few miles away from Utica College and Mohawk Valley Community College. On-site restaurant and bar. Restaurant fare is of good quality with middle to high-end pricing. The breakfast buffet quality was fair with limited selection. A few chain eateries and restaurants are located within walking distance. Hotel staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Guest rooms are clean, spacious, and functional. Fitness center is spacious and equipment is clean and functional. Free hotel parking in lot accessible from Washington Street. Overall, pleasant stay. I will return to this hotel when conducting business in Utica in the future.

Dear robertjR2888BW, Thanks so much for your great review. And all the details you listed sounds like a perfect description! We can't wait to see you next time and as the NY highway project on 5-S along with the hospital projects continue, this area will become more beautiful and easier for our guests to walk downtown.
