As a former owner of a hospitality property, I have high expectations when I am staying at an inn or hotel and the Inn at Taughannock Falls met those expectations and then some. First the Inn itself is a marvelously restored historic home sitting high on a hillside overlooking Cayuga Lake; the owners have created a wonderland outside that is perfect for weddings and large gatherings in addition to the porch area with comfortable chairs, tables and fire pits that is delightful for post dinner relaxation and stary, stary nights. There are several rooms in the main Inn and large, more contemporary rooms in adjoining buildings. We stayed in the Edgewood Spa room which was immaculately clean and spacious with comfy king bed, fluffy towels, coffee maker and assorted pods and teas, mini frig, writing desk, large screen HD TV and great views of the lake. It is a short walk to the main Inn or a brief car ride to an ample parking lot for those who choose not to walk. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and readily available. Buffet continental breakfast was tasty and very satisfying, The Inn is located outside of Ithaca and come sundown, tourists are departing the nearby State Park and the area becomes beautifully dark and quiet leading to a calm tranquility that is rarely found so close to a city. We loved our stay and recommend that , if you are visiting the Finger Lakes Region, be sure to stay here.…
This beautifully maintained historic inn is perched on a hillside overlooking Cayuga Lake and is located next to the main entrance to Taughannock Falls state park. My wife and I did not stay in the main lodge, rather my room was in the adjacent Edgewood building (2 minute walk to the main lodge). Our room was spacious and clean with a balcony overlooking the lake. Our room was cleaned and beds made-up each day of our three (3) day visit with fresh linen and towels. Each morning, we enjoyed a complimentary hot breakfast buffet in the main dining room with overlooked the the lake. The service staff was friendly and informative. The inn grounds are immaculate. We visited in early-May, so the restaurant and bar were not yet open for the season. The inn also caters weddings on its grounds and has an enormous tented patio area with outdoor fireplaces/ firepits - once again perched on the hillside overlooking the lake. The Taughannock Falls trail takes around 30 minutes to reach the main falls from the inn property - it is well worth the scenic walk along the wide well maintained trail. Overall, the Inn at Taughannock is a wonderful escape for couples and/ or families and is well worth the price. The staff hospitality and idyllic location will provide a very memorable experience.…
Location, location, location!!! The Inn itself is charming, but the location is spectacular; with Taughannock Falls State Park and Cayuga Lake in walking distance, and downtown Ithaca and Watkins Glen just a short drive away, this Inn is definitely in a prime location. We stayed in the Edgewood Spa room and not only was the room spacious, clean, and comfortable, but the views of the lake were breathtaking. My only complaint was the building where our room is is across the street from the Inn. Although the Inn was very lit up and welcoming with a roaring fire pit, the Edgewood building was not. It was a little scary cause it backed up to the woods and the lake across the street was pitch black too. I would of liked more lights surrounding the building.
We visited the Inn in order to view it for a future event. While it was off-season, we were met with wonderful hospitality by Emily to show us the rooms and the charm of the hotel. The owners have taken great care in refurbishing the rooms and those who stay there will appreciate the attention to detail.
A one of a kind experience! The rooms are beautifully decorated with the guest’s comfort in mind. From the luxury pillows to the marble bathrooms it is easy to feel like you are living in your dream home. Once we checked in we enjoyed some local wine and whisky at the bar which turned into stories by the fire watching the sunset over the lake. We had the pleasure of meeting Emily, who made us feel like we were the only ones at the Inn. This was a common theme with all staff we met, each one was as friendly and welcoming as the last. It is rare that you meet an owner who is as passionate about creating an experience and as customer focused as this owner is. It was truly an amazing experience and we cannot wait for our next trip to the Inn.
Perfect for a short getaway (4 hour road-trip for us). Took a couple of days to get some much needed downtime. Staff is very friendly. Room was comfortable with a king size bed, large bathroom. We also had a microwave and small fridge which made eating in easy. Breakfast was good. We will be returning for sure!
Winter is not always the best time to travel but there is an exception and staying here is just that. A spectacularly lighted and decorated place for Christmas gave the Inn the old world charm we were looking for. We were warmly greeted by Tyler and explained the layout of the property. Our room had all the modern conveniences of a fridge, coffeemaker and microwave set in a warm and cosy decor with a beautiful view of the lake. The inclusive breakfast was superb set in an elegant room with full window views out to the lake. The position of the Inn next to the gorge made for easy walking there and back. We had such a wonderful and relaxing stay that the winter dusting of snow made it all that more magical. Now we can’t wait to come back and experience it summer.
Second stay here. This time stayed in the Rose suite with my mother and sister. Beautiful room. The hotel has a lovely view over Cayuga Lake. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored old mansion. Lovely decor. Situated next to Taughannock Falls (easy 3 mile hike around the falls). Only criticism is there only seemed to be one staff member doing everything (check in/out, serving breakfast etc.). Might have been better to have two considering the number of guests.
The Inn is at the edge of the easy Gorge Trail to the incredible waterfalls. We stayed in the main Inn building in the Garden Room. The room was roomy and the bathroom adequate with a good, hot shower and big towels. The view was lovely. And there was a really nice lounge on the floor. Coffee and Tea 24/7. The only drawback was the loud speakers spewing Christmas Music on the Patio till 9:30. I went downstairs 3 times to have them lower it which was finally accomplished. Dinner at the Inn was good. Expensive, but hey it was Thanksgiving so expected. Good wine list, mostly Finger Lake wines. The waiter, David, was very good. So was the reception man (don't know his name :(. I would have liked robes as a perk, but maybe COVID loss. Would definitely return in fall and/or summer. And if you are planning a destination event, consider this place. They are well equipped for it.…
Such a charming place to spend a long weekend, the lake view from our room was beautiful. We were close enough to hear the sound of the falls anytime we went outside. Our first night included dinner at The Inn Restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious farm-to-table meal paired with local wine. Although the bar is small, it has a cozy throwback vibe. Will is an excellent bartender, he designed a special drink that captivated the tastebuds and went down all too easy. The grounds are host to several firepits, providing a great gathering place on a chilly fall night. I'm looking forward to visiting again next year.
