Three girlfriends on a road trip thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gardner Farm Inn. John is a wonderful host, so personable, accommodated our needs and we felt like we were family. On top of that, he is an excellent chef - you will love breakfast and his excellent coffee. We’d definitely stay there again.
The Gardner Farm Inn was great! My daughter and I were in Troy for a college visit. We had the Oscar Wilde / twin bed room and it was perfect. John was the best host and breakfast was great! Would definitely recommend!! Great location close to everything.
We traveled to New York to sight see and my husband booked time here at the inn…. What an amazing place to stay! The food was beyond exquisite and every detail was well thought out. The entire atmosphere is very conducive to meeting new friends and relaxing around the table or on the patio. We laughed and enjoyed talking to people we just met and thought how this was surely the best place we had ever stayed. While we rarely return to cities we have visited because of the places we want to visit, we are already talking about returning to this B &B simply for the warm reception, fabulous room, and scrumptious food. This was the best vacation we have ever taken.
Thanks so much John for a tremendously pleasant stay! We loved the house and especially Nigel and Margaret - who were beyond friendly! Really really appreciate all the hard work that has gone into the house and on guests’ stays - Harry and Madeline
There are B and B’s….and then there is the Gardner Farm Inn. From the second we met proprietor and owner John, we felt as if we had known him for years. The house has been lovingly decorated with an eclectic collection of items that recall memories spanning generations. It is clear that hospitality is king at Gardner Farm Inn. John is accompanied by two lovely rescue Greyhounds who are as sweet and docile as can be. The breakfast — served at our requested time, was lovely with some items coming straight from the on premise garden. The bedrooms were large and very comfortable. The quality of the sheets alone was worth the stay! Most reviews end here. The house was lovely, the amenities perfect and the food excellent. In my opinion, this is where the review begins! John is such an interesting and engaging host, we did not want to leave. We could have chatted all day. There are a number of fun things to see and reasons to visit Troy, NY. Be sure to put the Gardner Farm Inn at the top of your list.…
Spectacular in all regards. John, inn-keeper and owner, made me feel very comfortable. He meet me at the door, driveway actually, and showed me in and through the home. He offered me a bevarage and got me settled in immediately. His suggestion for dinner was perfect. My doggie bag was promptly deposited in frig and i headed upstairs to a most delightful sleep Bed was the most comfortable I have slept in in many months. Pillows just right, comforter fluffy and fresh and room was very quiet. Hated to see morning disturb my slumber. Breakfast in the kitchen with John was topnotch. Superb omlet, coffee (fresh brewed decaf) excellent and bacon. Great conversation to boot. The home is a 200 yr old farm housebuilt to the highest standards. Be sure to see the amazing hardwood floors, molding and 9 ft ceilings. The radiators put out the most perfect consistent heat without banging and clanking. I needed a week at least to go through all the rooms studying the most eclectic furnishings. Price was spot on. I will revisit Troy just spend another night in the John Waters room. Most highly recommended without reservation!…
My husband and I were looking for a travel stop on our way to Maine. I was sorry not to be able to stay here longer. An historic house with a modern/retro feel----the common spaces and rooms were clean and full of character. John was a fine host and served a great breakfast. And we guests enjoyed eating out on the patio in mid-October!!
This was our first time at the Inn and it was a fabulous experience from check-in to check-out. John went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Our room was clean and well appointed and for breakfast John made the lemon french toast which was out of this world. I found myself often enjoying the extensive collection of antiques and unique decorations throughout the Inn. Thank you John for making our stay wonderful and we look forward to staying when we are in Troy again.
We arrived at this B and B on August 14, and John, our host helped us with our bags up the winding staircase in this elegant home with 18th and 19th century wings. We were greeted in the kitchen by our REAL hosts, Nigel and Margaret, very regal retired greyhounds. The rest of this spacious home was full of funky collections of John's which were delightful. We stayed in the Mae West room which had two chandeliers!! John treated us as dear friends and recommended us to a fantastic Moroccan restaurant, Who knew that Troy, NY could offer such a unigue and hospitable experience? Dick and Vicky, Double Oak, TX
This Bed & Breakfast is absolutely beautiful, and the service is beyond amazing. John really makes you feel at home, and he is an incredible cook. After 3 nights, we didn’t want to leave! Everything was clean, comfortable, and very relaxing. HIGHLY recommend staying here if you’re in the area.
