My son and I stayed at the Sheraton prior to attending a Syracuse University open house. This hotel is right on campus, so the location could not be better. They also have a parking garage attached where you can park your car for a fee and keep it throughout the day of your check out. We were lucky that we were able to get an affordably rate, as I've heard that rates increase dramatically during popular visiting times. Our room was spacious, clean, and fairly quiet. Next time, we will request a room that is not as close to the elevator. We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant, and both were adequate. We would definitely stay here again, just for the location.
What a dump. Ron not cleaned 2 days in a room. Keys not working when getting back to the room TWO days in a row. Marriott should be ashamed to be associated with this very poorly run property. Several times the front desk told us problem was solved. It never was. There has to better places to stay in this area.
The only hotel I will ever stay at when I visit my daughter at Syracuse University from KIM and JIM at the front desk who make you feel like you’re just coming into your home and really care about how you are how your daughter is doing in school and always making sure you get the reservation that you need ! I can think of many a hotel front desk staffer around the country that could certainly use a lesson from these two in customer service. Thank you again . The restaurant is fabulous ! Ana and Brian are superb at what they do - try the cheesecake and the carrot cake ! All in all - a top notch experience during many emotional times of life for me and I could not be happier to have this property to call home several times a year !
Several rooms, including ours, with mechanical issues - heating unit not working. Overheard other guests asking to change rooms due to problems. Lobby freezing cold because boiler was down! True, it was during an exceptoinally cold weekend, but the hotel was clearly having difficulties handling it.
I read some not so positive reviews recently about this hotel. Yet our hotel room -- 6th floor overlooking the campus -- was clean, comfortable and nice. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and functional. Shower was more than adequate as well. The lobby was very nice, clean, attractive, and welcoming. I felt the Saturday breakfast at the restaurant was a little disorganized and the food was merely adequate -- probably not worth the price, but we were in town for a football game and wanted to be closed to campus. Here, we were on campus. The hotel is the best available within walking distance to campus.
Our first visit to drop our son for his freshman year to Syracuse. Hotel right on campus, with parking (we drove from NYC), lovely and very helpful staff, excellent food served in the restaurant. Lovely vibe in the bar with parents and music/ambience, etc. It’s not the most modern hotel and dated but in a good way, if that makes sense. We loved it! Staff makes a difference in all hotels, and the hotel has a great team.
If you are traveling to Syracuse University the location of this hotel is excellent. However, our room had a few issues. We arrived late (after 10 pm) and were staying just one night so we did not report the issues to the front desk. - Temperature control. The room was very hot when we checked in. We eventually got the AC to work, but there seemed to be no temperature control in the bathroom, which remained very hot. - Really gross pillows. The pillows did not fit properly in the pillow cases so the stained pillow inserts were visible and hard to avoid. yuck. - Bed and linens generally did not seem to be up to Sheraton standards. No top sheet, just the duvet cover with a very dense duvet inside. too much for July! - Uncomfortable sofa bed. Really poor quality. We were in a junior king suite with a king bed and sofa bed. Would be better to ask for a roll away bed, which is what we should have done. In the plus column, check in was friendly and the size of the room was fabulous. Were it not for the issues raised above, we could have easily gotten past the dated decor and the lack of basic upgrades like USB ports. If we had arrived earlier we would have seen if the front desk could help us with these issues.…
Awesome hotel. Nice front desk staff. Beautiful views of campus. The location is amazing for downtown campus activities. Loved staying there. Rooms were clean and great soaps in shower for products. Seemed like hallways were newly redone.
We enjoyed our stay here very much despite a few issues. The room was comfortable and the view was lovely. The decor could definitely use a refresh and renovation, as it was pretty old and tired. The TV was a flat screen but an older model and kind of small. Products in the shower were good - I appreciate the large bottles on the wall instead of little travel sized ones. My son complained about the water pressure though. Two of the elevators were out of service due to the sprinkler system in the lobby having gone off and causing a flood, which was a bit of a hassle, but not the hotel's fault. The restaurant in the lobby was surprisingly good. We were there for Accepted Students day at Syracuse and the location could not be beat- right across from campus and half a block from Marshall Street where all the restaurants and shops are. We will definitely stay here again when my son attends next year and will bring our dog! Love that it is dog friendly! I do wish that the coffee in the lobby was free. I was mistakenly told by the night desk clerk that it was, only to find out in the morning I had to pay for it at the Starbucks concession area. Even worse, there was a huge line to pay when all the families were getting ready to leave. I had already bought a coffee earlier and my husband had used both the free packets in the room. I wanted another coffee but didn't have time to wait. I asked for another free packet and the desk clerk said he would have housekeeping bring it up. Didn't have time to wait so I said I would skip it. The other desk clerk went and got me a free coffee and brought it to me at the elevator! I really appreciated that! Also, there is a charge for parking. …
Had a very nice stay at this Sheraton. It is an older property that's definitely showing its age, but still very clean with large, comfortable rooms. Besides some dated and worn decor, the only specific complaint I have about the rooms is that the TVs are very old. We had two King Rooms and each one had a different 15ish year old TV (update: I was informed by the hotel that they are in the process of replacing them all). The property has a small but very nice gym and a large pool area. Perhaps the biggest plus is the location, right across the street from the center of the university campus. Staff was great, always friendly and helpful. The man working the desk during the day was even able to source me an umbrella during a freak midday rain storm (gotta love Syracuse weather) which was much appreciated. All in all a good stay, would definitely stay again if I was in town!…
