#2 of 6 B&Bs / Inns in Syracuse
This 1925 English country Estate sits on three acres surrounded by trees, gardens and a pond. Located on the edge of Tipperary Hill, the Inn is surrounded by parks....an arboretum across the street on one side, a golf course and zoo on the other side and the back side of a nine acre park. Although you feel like you are in the countryside, you are only six minutes from the heart of downtown Syracuse's Armory Square District. Bicyclists not only enjoy the safe keeping of their bikes in the spacious garage, but after a long day can find two outstanding restaurants within walking distance. This hidden gem is a great place to unwind, relax and take in the beauty that surrounds you. We cater to your special dietary needs. Come enjoy our Labor of Love.

This is our second time visiting. We LOVE Annie and David, the canopy room, the hospitality. EVRYTHING. We sat on the portico during a rain storm. Aahhhh. The only thing I wish is there was Some way for the bathrooms to be cooled is all. We both love it there and will visit for pleasure - as it always is- or business whenever we can. Thanks to Annie and David for another beautiful experience!! Donn & Steven

Easy to reach by bike from the Erie Canal trail. Could walk to spot for dinner. Hosts are very friendly and accomodating!! Beautiful park-like setting and lovely 1920's house. Breakfast was large and delicious.

I stayed here again because of my other good experiences. The location is perfect for connecting to so many places in Syracuse--SU, Destiny, the zoo, parks, downtown, 390, the Thruway, the Fair, and many suburbs. The B&B offers a peaceful setting, several beautifully decorated rooms with baths ensuite or nearby, delicious breakfasts, and the kindest, most thoughtful hosts possible. This was a multi-night stay for a rather difficult business trip. Despite the stress I felt each day, I was so happy to return "home" each night to the serenity of this gorgeous mansion. The mansion is very historic, interestingly decorated with unique collections and antiques, and has all the niceties I want at my real home (fragrant soaps, water glasses, bedside kleenex, soft carpets, large bath towels, and more). I used a smaller back staircase to the kitchen each morning, but the main staircase will make you feel grand and important. Even before my feet touched the floor, the aroma of excellent coffee rose up to greet me. I NEVER have 2 cups, but indeed I did. Not only was I graciously greeted both mornings, my breakfast was cooked to order. Granted, I was the only guest, but Annie and David have always been accommodating to my quirks and caprices. I absolutely love the Canopy Room. It is elegant, set back from other rooms, connects to another room, which if not booked, offers a charming bath. The bed is to die for. The photo I took of the canopy doesn't do it justice so it's not posted. I giggled every nite as I gingerly reached through the beaded tassles of my antique lamp to flick it off. The other room I like is the French Room with a bath just a very short step across an essentially private hall. And please don't think that this stately home doesn't have closets. Oh yes, it does, as well as sitting areas in rooms and a large, ballroom-like living room with fireplace. We had a dusting of snow (such is Central New York), but the weather only served to make the big backyard more beautiful. The view of the yard from the breakfast room is amazing. I prevailed upon Annie the 2nd morning to let me sit in the kitchen, where I could feel the heartbeat of the house. The big gas stove for cooking took my mind to my childhood and my grandparents' home. The farm-style sink and glass-front cabinets made me envious. Checkout was a breeze with Annie's new fangled gadget. I received a receipt on the spot and an e-mailed one as well. The only problem was...that I hated to leave. If you like B&Bs and don't enjoy look-alike chain hotels, you'll really enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience. I highly recommend Ophelia's Garden.

We recently were welcomed by innkeepers, Ophelia and Dave to their charming, eclectic and comfortable inn. We usually choose an inn or B&B over traditional lodging for the extra bit of ambiance and pampering. Ophelia and Dave were no exception to this. We enjoyed our freedom to have our privacy, but they were there if we had a question or a need. Breakfast ,as well as our evening wine was enjoyed in their lively gardens and veranda. Breakfast was a healthy quiche ( Ophelia’s own recipe that she shared with her guests) pastries, fruit , coffee cake( home made ) and Juice. We would definitely stay here again if we are in Syracuse, NY again!

Annie Ophelia and Avid were so very accomodating and personable! The home was so pleasingly ecclectic and hosts so gracious. Where do I start? Annie Ophelia and David are extremely accomodating and interesting. Their penchant for gentle caring is evident in what they do at the Garden Inn, as well as other community endeavors. The grounds were full of character. They "buck the establishment" brilliantly. It's OK if a metal lawn ornament went askew. It's OK if a pot was placed inside anohter, The gournds are almost fairy-like witn the wizard carved in a high stump and other lawn decor. Inside, we could spend DAYS trying to take it all in! Micky (dog) and Murphy (cat) were so friendlt and fun. Rooms were gorgeous. Breakfast exquisitely simple yet totally satisfying. Perfection here! We so savored the relaxtion of our stay. Thank You! Donna & Steve
