This property is really lovely in a quiet Staten Island NYC neighborhood. The host is European but has owned this home for many years and has inovated it with talent and expertise. She cooks breakfast fresh each morning, with different meals each time. I was just like when I used to visit my European grandma exept that this home is a magnificent classic where Edward G. Robinson and Bugsey Siegal visited.

Great hostess Danuta, very accomodating to our needs. Beautiful home, with all the features you need. Great location to the Staten Island ferry. Sumptuous breakfast.
We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay with the creaks and themes of yesteryear

I wanted to write about my experience at a wonderful property… Victorian Bed and Breakfast of Staten Island, not to be confused with Victorian Villa, Victorian Manor Inn,or Harbor House all of which had horrible reviews on tripadvisor.com.
I did many hours of research on the internet on where to stay for my trip to NYC, as I had a guest meeting me arriving from Europe and I wanted her experience to be a memorable one.
My first look on the internet was to tripadvisor.com of course, as I rely on the honest opinions I find there.

The NYC hotels that I researched were expensive, and I’ve had previous good experiences with B&B’s, and I decided a B & B was the way to go.

I made the decision to stay at this B & B based on previous guest’s comments, and the easy access from the B & B to the Staten Island Ferry which arrives direct to the Whitehall terminal in Manhatten for easy subway connections to the rest of NYC.

This inn was a clean and beautiful Victorian house decorated to perfection and the hearty delicious breakfasts were much anticipated each morning. The innkeeper's warm and engaging personality made our week long stay so thoroughly enjoyable.
We both would definitely highly recommend Danuta Gorlach's B and B Victorian Bed and Breakfast of Staten Island to anyone who wants to visit NYC...

I personally plan on returning soon.

This B&B was the nicest place to stay . We were so glad and felt so lucky when we first arrived there and met the owner: Danuta G.
She welcomed us with iced tea and showed us around, and we were amazed about the place. Our accomodations were so neat and carefully prepared that we felt very comfortable at all times, clean and elegant in a very VICTORIAN style, we felt like in an old time story.
Each morning Danuta was ready with wonderful breakfasts that really made our days ! and sharing with us very interesting conversations. Breakfasts consisted of fresh fruit, juice, coffee, eggs, polish pancakes, english muffins among other choices... it wasn't a regular continental breakfast , it was a real TASTY BREAKFAST!
Location wasn't bad at all... it's located very close to the free ferry station that takes you everyday at aytime to Manhattan.

Thanks Danuta for your warm athmosphere and for making our trip so special !

I stayed here Dec 27-31, 2014.
The place is easy to get to by public transport, first the ferry then the 40/44 bus to Taylor St. ($2.50)
Time to travel is about 2 hours from JFK (airtrain-subway-ferry-bus)

I stayed in a "queen room" which was so very nice with christmas lights and the old-fashioned decorations. Felt very much like home. The radiator noise scared me at night with its whistling sound, but then it got silent. The bathroom was shared and the kitchen available at all times.
I did not hear much noise from street or other rooms.

Danuta the owner is most nice and lovely lady with a friendly and helpful attitude to her guests.
She makes the breakfast too, and believe me it is a lot better than in most hotels. I enjoyed our conversations, Danuta is a very intelligent lady. Tell your story and you get a story in return.

This hotel is best for longer stays.
My experience was most wonderful and this place is my choice for future trips to NYC.

I have been to New York a few times before, but this is the first time in Staten Island and the first time in a Bed & Breakfast. I chose Victorian B&B after reading all the good reviews at Tripadvisor, and I don't regret at all. The B&B is very beautiful and decorated to it's finest.
The rooms are very nice, with a big comfortable bed and a bathroom that you share with just one more room. The room I stayed in had a private porch with a rocking chair and the view that overlooked the neighborhood.
The breakfast can be included at the list of New York's attractions. You can have bread with several different spreads, eggs, cakes, fruits, coffee, juice, the options are endless.
Many reviews said the location was probably unsafe, but that is not true. It, s definitely not a fancy neighborhood and some properties around are in need for some repairs, however it's a family environment. One night I came from the city at midnight and there were people walking their dogs...AT MIDNIGHT. I guess it proves the neighborhood to be safe!
And the last but not the least, Danuta is a great hostess, a good person to chat with during the breakfast with other guests. She does everything to make you feel at home.

I needed to escape from the crowds of Manhattan for a couple of days. Staten Island seemed a likely candidate and I found my way to Danuta's B&B at 92 Taylor Street. I found her to be extremely friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and concerned for my comfort. She offered to pick me up at the ferry terminal, gave me a nice tour of her home and provided me with an endless parade of snacks and drinks. She is a lively conversationalist and tells entertaining stories. Breakfast both days was ample, novel and satisfying. Danuta dedicated herself to seeing that I was well-fed before leaving for each day's travels and adventures. There is bus service between the ferry terminal and Danuta's home. Get a schedule and plan accordingly.

Please do yourself a favor and stay with her. You will love your time there. I did.

We visited on 6/21 - 6/23/2013. This B&B is on a charming, safe street, and the house is situated with a beautiful front yard and garden. The furnishings are beautiful antiques. Room had comfortable queen bed, ample space, and amenities such as complimentary bottled water, snacks. etc. There is a parlor with TV and books for guests, plus a well-stocked coffee bar, cookies, tea, etc. The proprietor prepared a most delcious, ample breakfast. All sorts of fruit salad, cheeses, egg dishes, breads, etc. were served.
We found the location perfect, given its proximity to Brooklyn, NY and No. New Jersey. We traveled through various neighborhoods to arrive, and I found the location to be on a beautiful residential and charming area. If you are looking for old world elegance and/or a quiet place to relax and get away from the city noises and congestion, this place is wonderful.

We stayed three nights in august in this charming B&B.
The place is clean and the guest is ...top.
You will appreciate the breakfast and probably learn about staten island "gangster history".
The house is supposed to have welcomed some of them...a long time ago...
If you're with children, it's perfect (two rooms + kitchen & shared bathroom).
Staten island ferry is not so close (you need a car or you have to take a taxi; you will find them easily at the ferry terminal 5/8$), but if you like the bay you will appreciate the cruise two times a day.

Dear reader,
these lines are aimed to share with you the experiences we had at Danuta's Victorian Bed and Breakfast in Staten Island. Danuta's house is about 40min taxi drive away from New York JFK airport at normal traffic conditions and lies in a green, quiet and safe neighborhood with many other villas. For those aiming to see Manhattan, the bus stop is just 1 minute away with direct connection (approx. 15 min to the Staten Island Ferry), small shops and restaurants can be found on the main street near Danutas' house.

We felt particularly at home with Danuta as she shared her beautiful house with us, along with all the history the walls (and sometimes Danuta) tell you. The warm and honest hospitality you can experience at her house has become rare in the days of anonymous five star hotels around the world. Coming back from Manhattan, Danuta's place was perfect to relax from the crowd and noise of the city. In case of questions, Danuta was very helpful to get us "Tourists" a perfect start on Staten Island and Manhattan.

As the other reviews already stated, breakfast is fantastic and Danuta is very sensible related to her guests preferences. The two rooms we used were both very comfortable, good beds, large (for New York City measures huge ;-) ) bathrooms. All the small details are taken care of. Of course, the whole house is very clean (what amount of work!). If you arrive by plane, make sure you print out a map from yahoo or other to check that the taxi driver makes the right directions... GPS systems have not made their breakthrough into NYC cabs yet.

For the next visit to New York, we are looking forward to stay again at Danuta's place.

Edith and Clemens, Austria, Europe
