My husband and I discovered Mary Hunt House B&B while looking for a B&B to stay at close to Dryden. We were thrilled to find this charming B&B and book a 3- night stay. This B&B is fabulous as it is clean, charmingly decorated and a beautifully restored Greek Revival home. Carol is very welcoming, charming and a perfect B&B host! We stayed upstairs in Rachels Room and it offered us everything that we needed. The old advertising cards nicely framed were fun to read and the room itself was bright and airy. The linens were freshly pressed and very lovely. The guest bathroom was private, and located on the 1st floor of the house. This was not an issue for us in the least! Carol's breakfasts were freshly prepared and perfect every morning. There is a huge wrap around porch comfortably furnished and a wonderful spot to read a book and watch all varieties of birds visiting the numerous feeders. This B&B will be our "go to" spot whenever we visit our family there. I too, am a B&B owner that notices everything! This little jewel receives a hearty 5 stars from us!

Carol is the loveliest hostess you can imagine. She’s fun, smart, kind, knowledgeable about the area, genuinely interested in people, and one heck of a cook. Her home is beautiful and a truly delightful place to stay. The location was the perfect home base from which to explore Ithaca - quiet and out of the way enough to be truly relaxing, but only a ten minute drive or so into town. We loved our stay in Ellen’s Room and can’t wait to return someday!

I stayed in the suite and it had everything I needed and more. Good a/c for the summer heat, comfortable bed, great private lounge where my daughter could visit me from Cornell, a fridge of bottled waters outside the door, a coffee machine in the dining room, and even a little dish of chocolates! Carol was a wonderful and friendly host, and seems more then happy to let you sit on her porch and watch the many woodpeckers etc that frequented her bird tables, and give advice on local attractions, restaurants and hikes. The creek is at the bottom of the garden where I saw 2 deer. But the best part of my stay was the breakfasts! I need a gluten free diet and Carol went out of her way to bake fresh dishes for me every morning - delicious! She was very conscious of using fresh, organic produce too. I would highly recommend staying here.

We recently visited Ithaca NY for an event at Ithaca College and spent one night at Mary Hunt House. The house is an 1815 Greek Revival house beautiful restored and decorated with antiques, but with all the modern necessities. A 15 minute easy drive from the Ithaca College campus, the house sits on a large and beautifully maintained property, with large sitting porch overlooking the gardens.

We stayed in the Mary Hunt Suite, a large quiet 2-room suite with living room and fireplace separated by pocket doors from the bedroom and bathroom area. It has its own outdoor patio space as well. The bedroom had plenty of closet and dresser space, a well-stocked and spotless bathroom, and comfortable bed. The wi-fi was trouble-free. A TV is available in the main house living room.

Carol, the hostess, could not have been more caring and hospitable. She took time to understand all of our needs, including our travel schedule, and made sure we had everything we could want. She served us a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning, preceded by plenty of hot coffee and cranberry muffins (she tucked away 4 extras in a bag for our drive home). She took lots of time to chat with us about the area. Being a native, she is very familiar with the local sites, including many of the local wineries that dot the area. Reservations, Check in and check out were a snap. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Ithaca area, Mary Hunt has a lot to offer.

Very relaxing, restful 3-day stay in this gorgeous, well-preserved 200 year-old country house. Carol has really dialed it in; she has a fine aesthetic sense in the appointments, furnishing, and painting of the place. There's no sense of "stuff just put up on the wall because it's old." She's very knowledgeable about every square inch of the place and will reveal intriguing backgrounds for everything there, say, the vintage framed photos, for example. Zero knick-knackery or frilly excess. I felt like I was in an Andrew Wyeth painting.

Comfort? I wanted to buy the bed. Pleasant chairs in the room to sit and read in, and the room was plenty spacious. The place was squeaky clean. She was very Covid-conscious, which I very much appreciated.

Breakfasts verged on gourmet, and she accommodated my dietary requests quite well. Carol is a longtime resident of the area and very knowledgeable regarding what to do around Ithaca - she knows the little details and histories.

Folks should know that my Android phone didn't have service there, starting at about 1/4 mile approaching the property from Ithaca. The place is in the country! It can be a blessing to be rid of those infernal things for a while, anyway. I-Phoners might not have that problem. Also, the place is on a small, two-lane highway, and light sleepers might want to bring noise-canceling headphones. If you're a heavy sleeper or an early riser, it won't be a problem. These are minor quibbles and wouldn't stop me from staying there again.

In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Carol Barra's Mary Hunt House B and B, give it the highest recommendations, and would stay there again in a New York minute!

We enjoyed two comfortable nights in Mary's Suite! It is a perfect location to explore all Ithaca has to offer and a comfortable drive to Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame. This B & B offered everything for which we could possibly hope. Carol is a delightful hostess, provided delicious breakfasts, a relaxing atmosphere, and great conversation. She is a life-long collector who has filled her home with lovely things that make a warm and inviting home. The wrap-around porch with views of multiple bird feeders, a lovely brook and gorgeous flowers were all a bonus!

We have been coming for four yrs to this wonderful bed &breakfast for many reasons: very close to the colleges yet not in the town, a great hostess, excellent breakfast (her vegetable quiche is the best), elegant yet simple furnishings in the spirit of this 200 hundred year house. Very comfortable beds. Spotless. You will enjoy your stay.

We spent two wonderful days in Ithaca and stayed at Mary Hunt House B&B. The room couldn't be better. It was nice and cozy, beautifully decorated and everything we needed. Carol prepared delicious breakfasts ... and since I'm Gluten Free ... I appreciated her consideration tremendously. The birds were a bonus. I never expected to be greeted by a Pileated woodpecker as we drove in. The birds were very cooperative and a delight to photograph.
