I have been wanting to stay here for a long time and finally came on Labor Day to celebrate my birthday. Everything was just as perfect as I expected! We had dinner on the "porch" and with the large open windows, I felt as if I was dining outside ( important in these Pandemic Days). The furnishings in the room and hotel are truly lovely. Being in the center of this sweet town was great.
On our last night we decided to splurged sit-down with a view of the Lake.Must include that before hand we asked waitress of another establishment to recommend what meal she liked best? She said the hot turkey sandwich served on stretched bread. Upon viewing menu I opted for the pecan maple salmon which came with rice, asparagus. My sweetheart had ordered sherwood salad with shrimp and lobster salad on. While waiting our dinner our waiter brought you may have guessed it an order of stretched bread! We completely forgot about asking. The plate was small but we soon found why. If more was served you would completely forget the dinner.Andrea's salad was awesome and my salmon couldn't have been better. Also the Bullet Old Fashioned topped off a perfect meal.
Visited the Sherwood Inn for a couple of nights with our family. Absolutely delightful experience! We had two lovely rooms, very clean, spacious, and comfortable! The entire staff was beyond gracious and helpful! Terrific breakfast included each morning! We're going back - already booked - for October!
We stayed one night on our way to Syracuse university. Reception and service were wonderful. The inn is centrally located with free parking. The view from our room was the lovely lake. It is an old style inn so don’t expect perfection in the rooms and furnishings but it is charming and the bed was so comfortable. I do wish the windows in our room could be opened so I could have enjoyed the fresh lake air. I thought the room rate was a bit expensive but I didn’t mind splurging for one night.... and it did include a full breakfast served on the porch by a gracious wait staff with windows wide open and a view of the lake. All in all a restful respite
Please think twice before dining at the Sherwood. There are better choices in Skaneateles. Poor service, ok meals but expensive for what you receive. Do not expect to be served bread with your meal nor a salad. When a meal is $24.00, I believe you should at least be offered bread. The porch atmosphere is beautiful on a summer evening but the service is poor and food could be better.
