We had relaxing and enjoyable time. We stayed the first night of re-opening.
I arrived a tad early and the cleaning people were cleaning the room I could see they were wearing masks additionally they did not rush out due to my early arrival I very much appreciated the measures they made to provide a clean sanitary room. And the hotel staff kindly enforced guests to were masks inside public spaces. I very much appreciate the measures taken to make me feel safe.
The room was comfortable and we loved the pool! It was perfect relaxing shelter island experience!

As we re-entered life with lightened COVID19 restrictions, my girlfriends and I were in dire need of a change of scenery. So we made a last minute reservation with our 8 and 16 year old daughters to visit the Shelter Island House. What a Special Place!!

Still very much in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, we were a bit nervous at first but once we arrived, we quickly got over it. It was SO clean and tranquil. The staff was extremely welcoming and generous from arrival to departure. They could not do enough, from giving us extra fresh towels by the pool before we even knew we needed them to complimentary beverages. They also had this fabulous food truck with the most amazing

The grounds are stunning and the pool was delightful. After enjoying their lovely breakfast spread, we would walk to the beach everyday. If we were not lounging by their beautiful pool or playing at their petanque courts, we took a quick ride to both Greenport and Sag Harbor.

We absolutely love it here and can not wait to go back again this summer!!

Stayed here with my husband and daughter for a weekend getaway. I have never been to shelter island and was really looking forward to getting away .I was a bit disappointed with our queen room. It definitely didn’t look like the hotel room pictures online and needs a little updating
I didn’t see an outdoor bar and the pool outside isn’t heated. I would also warn people with kids to be be careful of the water in the bathroom it gets super heated even if turn on just the cold I almost burned my hand a few times. The indoor osprey bar now has a limited menu.
What I did love about the place was that it was quaint, had a decent breakfast given the times and is close to crescent beach .You can walk there from the hotel and they did offer a town beach pass for the whole week which was $70. The employees were pleasant. They do have beach chairs and umbrellas as well as bikes available for you to use which was a nice touch.
I would come back and stay here just wish it wasn’t as expensive for the room. But it’s hard to find places to stay out here for a reasonable price during the summer season

My partner and I stayed at this beautiful property last year and fell in love with the place. It's now become our annual destination for my birthday weekend with our reservation coming up again this coming August. Can't wait!

We found our Queen room, located on the second floor, to be perfect with a beautiful view of the pool area the rear property grounds. Upon arrival, we had a little problem with one of the pieces of furniture, but maintenance came up right away and fixed it.

Our memorable weekend included breakfast sandwiches from Stars Cafe (tiny place in town, but good food) and dinners at SALT Waterfront Bar & Grill and Vine Street Cafe. Both meals were perfect.

Relaxing days were spent on Crescent Beach where we rented lounge chairs and umbrellas. There is a bar/restaurant just across the road where we were able to purchase some "adult beverages". Days were spent relaxing and listening to the waves lapping up onto shore, which made us feel like we were on a tropical island.

While a bit pricey, treat yourself and your loved one(s) to at least a weekend getaway at the Shelter Island House on Shelter Island.

We stayed in early May 2021. The hotel was very comfortable--everywhere newly decorated and well looked after. Our room was lovely. The staff were friendly and very careful about Covid precautions. For Shelter Island, and the quality of the hotel, we thought the prices were good value. New York State will be opening up later this month, and we assume the hotel's bar and restaurant will be opening up too. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked up to return in July. We are hoping to try the restaurant then.

First time staying at Shelter Island House & my husband and I will return. Our room was large, immaculate w/ a spacious walk-in shower. My favorite in the morning at the breakfast bar was the delicious fresh fruit and excellent coffee. Staff are friendly, but best of all was the hospitality provided by the owner, Suzanne.

Just got back from a mid week getaway to shelter island. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were well taken care of. The staff went out of their way to make sure all our plans were set and made several great recommendations.
Highly recommend the clean and Covid safe and comfy setting.
Can’t wait for the spring to go back!

Ian and Suzanne bent over backward to make our wedding was a dream come true. We rented all rooms and the West Neck guesthouse. It felt intimate and the guests loved the decor, experience, convenience and “home away from home” feeling. I could not recommend this hotel more!

This small hotel felt uncrowded even though it was sold out. They have a kind staff, clean hotel rooms and common areas, plenty of fresh towels for the pool and beach chairs and umbrellas to bring to the beach. Thanks for a perfect stay at Shelter Island.
