I don't know where to begin! What a wonderful dinner at the Red Maple which is on premise! The staff and quality of food is exceptional and not just my opinion but our dinner was an wedding dinner with a total of 10 people. All of us agreed that the crap cake was the best they ever had! That's no... More

Looking for the Long Island experience without the East Hampton silliness? Then try Shelter Island and why not The Chequit. Paper thin walls (typical summer place this) and somewhat tame super healthy breakfast buffé but also super cosy and nice place with nice and friendly albeit not too professional staff. In house restaurant Red Maple is as good as any... More

After having such a delightful winter's stay in January I couldn't wait to get back to Shelter Island in summertime. My stay at the Chequit could not have been more pleasant. Always so welcoming, so laid back, so charming. Accommodations were perfect. Not quite the height of summer travelers yet, so sitting out on the front porch could not have... More

We just returned from our second stay at the newly redone Chequit which has become our go-to destination for a peaceful getaway from the city. The Chequit is an historical hotel that has been smartly and chicly updated but still maintains its old fashioned appeal. The rooms are impeccably designed- the breakfast buffet is among the best I've ever enjoyed-... More

It is hard for me to convey how much I love this place. There are few places in the world that get everything so right! From the absolutely fabulous staff, to the chic and playful décor, even down to the soap and bath salts that accompany the claw foot tub in the Terrace Suite, no detail is missed! It is... More

We just stayed at The Chequit for our Executive Committee retreat. We had accommodations at another hotel, and they gave our rooms to another group without notice. I reached out to Julie and she was simply amazing! She was so organized, and took care of all of our requests on such short notice. The hotel and service were so genuine... More

Although it was off season this little gem was the perfect home base to explore LI's beaches and wineries. Before setting out we enjoyed a delicious breakfast which included the daily egg scramble, fresh squeezed OJ, homemade pastries and Greek yogurt parfaits served in mason jars. The Brandenburg concerto played in the background while we read the NY times before... More

Thurs nite in winter is 2 for 1 so what was already a really good meal - the duck was tender, juicy and had a great wine berry glaze - was made even better by the fantastic price point. I'm picky about my wine so was very pleased when our hostess Dawn brought me a tasting of three of the... More
