Just two hours from New York City, The Villa at Saugerties resides on 3.6 acres of pastoral grounds including two streams, a lily pond, and grand willows. The romance lies in the sundrenched gardens with its wooded backdrop, local and seasonal dining indoors and out, private patios, forty foot swimming pool, and fireplaces in each guest room - a timeless, Mediterranean modern oasis in the Hudson Valley. Each intimate guest room is a getaway unto itself with king or queen beds dressed in luxurious linens, hand laid Moroccan tiled bathrooms with marble sinks, and deep soaking tubs or walk-in showers. Cable television, Apple tv, and complimentary wifi are among some of the additional amenities offered. Varied four season activities nearby include hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, golfing, indoor and outdoor tennis, HITS (horse show in the sun), apple/pumpkin picking, antiquing, and strolling the grounds here and beyond. Visit the farmers markets, waterfalls, and art galleries, or experience some of the great music and restaurants in Saugerties and the surrounding areas including Woodstock, Hunter, Catskill, and Hudson.

Detailed Reviews
We had been wanting to visit The Villa at Saugerties for years and we were finally able to spend a long weekend there in January. Words don't do justice to how special of a place this is and how wonderful Amanda and Joe are as hosts.
We loved everything about our stay: how pretty the Villa looks at night as you drive up...homemade breakfast & dinner (insanely delicious!)...the decor and the inspiration for it...the fireplace....the comfortable rooms that are spacious yet cozy...the heated floors in the bathrooms!...and all of the small conveniences that are everywhere you look. You can tell so much effort, thought, and love has gone into making The Villa such a special place - it really is perfect.
Amanda and Joe: thank you! We so enjoyed meeting you and staying at your lovely Villa - and we can't wait to come back soon!

Innkeepers Amanda and Joe set out to create an oasis and escape for their guests. Mission accomplished.
You’ll leave feeling so relaxed, so special, and so lucky to have spent time at the Villa.
Amanda and Joe are a super force of talent, taste, and immeasurable graciousness. Leave the everyday fuss behind and go see what all the fuss is about over at the Villa at Saugerties.

Chaka Khan -- yes -- Jonathan!! Love it!! It was so great to meet you and Sean -- and thanks to Amy for being your travel guru and for introducing you to The Villa! We had such a great time with you guys, and are so happy that you enjoyed your stay! We loved seeing you lounging in the pool, lemonade in hand -- beating that crazy heat wave! Thank you so much for your kind words here, and throughout your stay -- it truly makes us so happy to make you happy. That's what it's all about! Looking forward to next time, and we will definitely plan to do a dinner when you are here -- maybe to celebrate your wedding!! ;) Congrats and have fun!! xoxo

We recently enjoyed an overnight stay at the Villa to celebrate my husband’s birthday.
I was so anxious to visit as it is not often that you see a hotel receive an “excellent” score on 100% of their reviews. We were not disappointed!
Amanda and Joe are warm and welcoming hosts who poured their hearts and souls into carefully creating an absoutely beautiful bed & breakfast. The Villa is everything that the previous reviews promised it would be. The decor, service, food, and attention to every detail make it a very special place for a romantic getaway.
The Villa is located two hours from New York City. Great restaurants, shops and galleries are a few minutes away by car, as is the pretty cool town of Woodstock.
This place truly is a European villa tucked away in the woods of Saugerties!!
We will definitely return!

Maria, so sorry for our delayed response! it was so great to have you and Stephen here for his birthday celebration! We had such a nice time talking with you over breakfast, and love hearing that you enjoyed your stay. The gardens are starting to green up, and little sprouts are finally coming out of the ground! We hope to see you both here again in the warmer weather when we can join you for a glass of Cava by the pool! Until then -- happy spring!

Amanda and Joe have created a truly special place.
Their villa is beautifully appointed with an exacting eye to detail. Our room (no 4) was lovely with a large and comfortable bed, gas fireplace, deep bathtub and outdoor patio. We hadn't slept so well in ages.
Breakfast was a real treat. Guests sit around the large communal table for a relaxed and special meal. On our first morning, Joe treated us to a fragrant spiced duck and baked egg. A lovely way to start the day. We look forward to visiting again in the summer to enjoy the pool and to explore the beautiful area.
We recommend this lovely place without hesitation.

It's been 3 weeks since my visit and words are few that can express how exceptional this place really was. Three weeks in the life of a working Mom during the summer with a 3 and a 5 year old who need to be occupied can often feel like a year has passed. Yet for very genuine reasons The Villa in Saugerties, Amanda and Joe, and my brief stay as a whole still vividly sit right there as one of those special memories I will soon not forget. I was traveling solo that weekend and was looking for a place that felt fresh, upscale and unique. A tall order in a land that caters often to more of the “country americana" decor. The Villa was anything but. It was exquisitely designed from the Venetian plastered walls, to the Moroccan light fixtures, the gorgeous pool, the serene gardens to the romantic fireplace in my room. Even things often overlooked like the 802-gm Turkish bath towels ... much loved!!
The care and attention to detail is so personal for Amanda and Joe. They live what they do and the passion behind every meal and every amenity in each room has been so carefully considered. It’s modern, cultural and customized with a warmth that can only come naturally from Amanda’s sense of style and background in interior design.
From the minute I arrived I felt as if I was visiting old friends who I can’t wait to see again. I travel often and have experienced many of the world’s most luxury B&B’s. From the home to the food The Villa in Saugerties is a unique experience for any couple looking for a step above, even a creative looking for inspiration typically found in the villas of Europe.
I highly recommend DO NOT MISS the fabulous dinner Joe and Amanda host in "The Barn” each Saturday night … the food, the wine, the company … seriously, few words can explain … it’s all SIMPLY DELICIOUS!

Michele - We cannot tell you enough how meaningful your words are. Thank YOU for bringing such a bright light to The Villa! Your warmth, and enthusiastic nature were a joy to everyone -- especially during the Barn dinner. Nothing beats an infectious laugh over great food and a bottle of wine! Have a great summer, and we hope to see you again soon with your husband next time!

Go for the amenities and stay for the breakfast!
Amanda and Joe have taken the bed and breakfast experience to another level. My wife and I had no idea what to expect, when we drove through the manicured driveway. The serene ambiance they have created, coupled with an exquisite decor, make for a truly one of a kind experience in the Hudson Valley.
This feeling was only eclipsed by the amazing culinary delights being cooked up by husband Joe in their kitchen. Gourmet French Toast, Shakshuka, and Caramelized grape fruit; were just some of the amazing dishes my wife and I tasted for breakfast during our stay.
The only negative, is that we couldn't stay there forever. Its well worth the visit, you will not regret it!
Pros:
- Five Star hospitality
- Amazing Decor
- Even more amazing breakfast!
Cons:
- None

By far the most amazing bed & breakfast I have ever stayed at. The service here is really only comparable to a 5 star hotel -- but you have the added benefit of two of the kindest and most helpful hoteliers around (Amanda & Joe).
Amanda designed the Villa from scratch, and every single detail is perfect, from the beautiful Venetian stucco walls to the reclaimed wood beams. Amanda has managed to create a space that is both high design and very welcoming.
Joe's food is, likewise, phenomenal. Joe humbly explained that he is not a "professional" chef, but he is not a "professional" the same way your grandmother isn't a "professional" -- he takes more time, and puts more thought into every dish than a chef in a professional kitchen would be able. The food is made with care, and it is delicious.
My wife and I cannot wait to go back!

Beautifully-designed B&B - modern, minimal, clean, and relaxing. Joe and Amanda are wonderful hosts, with an encyclopedic knowledge of the region and of day trips, and are great cooks and hosts. Absolutely worth the visit.

Robinson, Joe and I had such a nice time getting to know you and Fabiola! We were thrilled that you made the most of your stay by visiting some of the best of Saugerties including Opus 40, The Saugerties Lighthouse, the great antique and indie shops on Partition Street (O & Co, Bosco Mercantile, Inquiring Minds Bookstore), and I think you even got in a mountain view hike and a visit to a secluded swimming hole! We are so lucky to be around so many great little towns, that people don't know how much Saugerties has to offer -- so YAY for Saugerties exploration! Although it's a bit of a drive from Philly, we would love to have you join us over a weekend to enjoy a Saturday dinner at The Barn, where we can share a few glasses of red and listen to the frogs at the pond...Be well, and happy rest of summer!!

A little late in writing this review. We were there in August for my birthday weekend.
The Villa — the rooms, the grounds, the architecture, the interior design, furniture, flowers, ambiance, energy – are absolutely STUNNING. So beautifully designed, curated, and such attention to detail. As an Art Director myself, I noticed all these tiny details and appreciated them all.
The hosts — Amanda and Joe are so incredibly lovely, friendly and warm. We felt like we were staying with friends. They were so nice and made special vegan options for us; Joe's cooking is AMAZING, flavorful and delicious, and the perfect complement to the beautiful aesthetics that surround you as you eat. Most restaurants I go to in New York don't make dishes that taste that good.
We'll definitely have to visit again soon. Thank you both for a wonderful weekend. We are still sprinkling that smoked salt on EVERYTHING! :)

I cannot recommend the Villa at Saugerties enough - Amanda and Joe have gone to great lengths to create a guest house experience that is altogether luxurious, invigorating, relaxing and welcoming. The newly and carefully constructed villa is gorgeous, and the design, a product of Amanda & Joe's travels in Spain as well as Amanda's deft interior design skills, will make you wonder 'Am I really still in upstate NY?!?' We stayed in the king room with soaking tub, and as it was a chilly weekend in March, we enjoyed the gas fireplace at the foot of the bed. Linens were crisp and comfortable and the entire place is just spotlessly clean - with fresh flowers in the room and a stocked minibar, we found ourselves wanting nothing but an extra few days tacked on to our stay to take in the carefully curated surroundings! Breakfast was insanely delicious - fresh, organic, and as local as possible. We also enjoyed speaking with the hosts - from start to finish they were incredibly responsive & communicative, while also providing us with the space we needed to just relax. I share the concern that the villa will become so popular I might have trouble booking future stays - in fact, I am positive that will happen! - but I will certainly attempt to be back in the future, especially when the pool is open! Thanks again Amanda & Joe for bringing such a wonderful place to life!

Hello - We offer a super beautiful full healthy brunch included with your stay, every day. On some Saturday evenings we offer our guests a special prix fixe dinner in the gardens (weather depending). We do not have a restaurant for additional meals. Fortunately there are lots of fabulous restaurants nearby in Saugerties (10 min), Woodstock (15 min), Kingston (20 min), and Hudson (30 min), and we are happy to help you plan an itinerary or offer suggestions based on your dietary preferences ;) Feel free to shoot me an email if you'd like to learn more! Very best - Amanda
Hi there! I'll be happy to send you pics, rates, and details. You can email me through our website (Tripadvisor doesn't allow us to include our email address here for some reason), and I'll send you everything you need ;)
Of course! Tripadvisor does not allow links in this section, but our email address is posted near our name at the top of the page next to our address and phone number. If you just click on the little envelope, you can email us directly ;)
Although we love dogs, I’m afraid we are not able to accommodate them at The Villa. There are some boarding options nearby, or if you would like recommendations for places to stay that can accommodate dogs, shoot me an email and I’ll be happy to help!
