We have never met better B &B owners than Amanda and Joe. They are warm, friendly and totally professional. The house is impeccably decorated and feels like a second home. The food served is as good as you’ll find anywhere. This is a five star B & B. Don’t skip dinner if it’s served on Saturday night.
The Villa at Saugerties is a dreamy escape in the Hudson Valley that offers a most special and memorable stay. Amanda and Joe have designed a serene, well-appointed 4-room home base with comfortable guest rooms (remote fireplaces! heated bathroom floors!) and beautiful surroundings (pool! exquisite landscaping!). They are such warm, thoughtful, and helpful hosts and the meals are sublime: Joe cooks flavorful, inventive, and bountiful breakfasts and one very special dinner (opt in for this!). All the food is seasonal and veggie-forward. Staying there is an idyllic, unique experience that totally transports you — no aesthetic detail is overlooked and Amanda offers thorough recommendations for things to do in the area. Explore nearby towns (Woodstock, Hudson) but make sure you bask in the lovely environment Amanda and Joe have created.…
Amanda + Joe have created an amazing space for an exceptionally relaxing getaway—it's so thoughtfully and beautifully designed! They are such fabulous hosts who'll leave you feeling like you want to book a return trip ASAP. From the amazing meals to the insanely comfortable beds and beautiful gardens, it was such a great weekend for my husband and I. Can't wait to go back!
I cannot speak highly enough about The Villa at Saugerties. My husband and I spent a long weekend here for my birthday to relax and unwind in the Hudson Valley, and it fully delivered. The villa is an impeccably curated space that leaves no detail unattended, from the luscious and beautifully manicured grounds to the welcoming and well-designed public spaces to the immaculate guest rooms, each with private outdoor space. And, while we truly enjoyed settling into the gorgeous surroundings, the most valuable gems of The Villa at Saugerties are its hosts Amanda and Joe. They are two of the kindest, most welcoming and genuine people. Amanda makes it her duty to ensure you want for nothing during your stay, and she somehow manages to do so in a way that makes you feel like you've known one another for years! The conversation comes easily and so does the subsequent laughter and enjoyment of chatting with her during morning brunches. Joe wowed us each and every day with his delectable, multi-course brunches using local farm-to-table ingredients. I must say, he inspired me to try a few new recipes when I returned home. :) I cannot wait to return again, and again!…
Our second trip to the Villa at Saugerties was just as wonderful as the first. Amanda and Joe are the nicest hosts we have ever encountered. They are always available if you need anything or have any questions....they just want to make your stay as lovely as possible! Joe is a fabulous chef always surprising us with exceptional and unique breakfasts. Not to be missed is the Saturday prix fixed dinner in the garden.....exceptional! Amanda is a kind and thoughtful host....conversations with her are always interesting and something my husband and I look forward to. This was our first escape during the pandemic and Joe and Amanda made us feel so comfortable....from the impeccably manicured gardens, beautiful rooms, relaxing pool, and of course the incredible cleanliness and readily available hand sanitizers. We can’t wait for our next trip back to the Villa.…
My husband and I had an amazing stay at the villa and are looking forward to returning! We’ve traveled extensively and stayed at some top rated hotels/inns. The Villa at Saugerties is without a doubt one of our favorites. The inn is beautiful, spacious and clean, but what what really makes it stand out is the service you receive from the owners, Amanda and Joe. It’s clear that they love what they do and they really go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible - from Joe’s delicious multi-course breakfasts to Amanda’s multiple trips from the kitchen to the pool to bring us cold drinks, no ask was too much trouble (if fact, we didn’t have to ask at all - Amanda checked in to make sure we were comfortable and offered us drinks!). We have two little ones at home who are constantly relying on us to do things for them - it was a real treat to be able to sit back and relax while Amanda and Joe took care of us! Book now, you won’t regret it!…
Amazing experience from start to finish. The grounds and the house are beautiful with such an attention to details. Amanda and Joe always go to an extra length to make us feel comfortable. The food was the best we’ve had in the area and elevated the experience even further. It just doesn’t get better than this!
We've just returned home from 3 nights at the Villa at Saugerties. We usually vacation in far flung places but the pandemic made that very uncertain so I booked our 40th anniversary weekend a car ride away. This was the perfect replacement for Paris! Rooms and baths are very well appointed and comfortable. The grounds and building are beautiful and serene - the hosts Amanda and Joe couldn't have been more hospitable - breakfasts creative and beautiful and keep you going for the whole day. Do take them up on Saturday night dinner in the garden - the food was delicious and plating exquisite. We are fairly bad relaxers and there is plenty to do nearby - we went to two open air art installations (Art Omi and Opus 40 - and stopped at Storm King on our way up from Manhattan), took a 20 mile bike ride on the Ashokan Train Trail and did some easy hiking nearby in Saugerties. Shopping in Hudson and Saugerties and seeing the sights in Woodstock all relatively close by. There are plenty of restaurants nearby as well - especially good was Silvia's in Woodstock. We are already looking forward to returning next year - and going to Paris as well. Thanks for the wonderful time Amanda and Joe - cheers!! …
We have been refreshed and restored. The Villa at Saugerties is a beautiful, exquisitely designed place...both in the rooms and the gardens. You feel nature's presence from the pink and white peonies in the room to the quiet bird calls and the willows in the garden where we shared our meals. Amanda and Joe are warm, caring people who take delight in getting to know their guests. They ask for individual food preferences. Delicious meals are creatively prepared and served with pride. Thank you, Amanda and Joe, for giving us unique moments in time we will long remember.
Spent a mother/daughter weekend at the Villa at Saugerties and everything about it was just perfection! Run by couple Amanda and Joe, we were treated to high touch service from the moment I called to book the reservation - I received a lovely email with suggestions of all the local things to do and she spent time on the phone with me to discuss itinerary and any special requests. The Villa is clearly a labor of love - every single detail is just perfection - every design element by Amanda and every food decision by Joe. There are 4 rooms, each uniquely decorated with beautiful custom pieces. We had Room 1 which had a gorgeous sage colored bed, navy chair and an antique looking crackled oval mirror on the wall. The view of the lush outside gardens was spectacular and we enjoyed time sitting around their lovely pool. The main floor also has an elegant sitting area and a large round table so plenty of spaces to do work or just enjoy some quiet time. We also LOVED the food. Joe is a pro in the kitchen and seems to love preparing scrumptious meals for his guests. Each morning he prepares an elaborate breakfast and on Saturday eve there is dinner. Every meal was a mix of interesting flavors, textures and colors. I tried things I have never had before and I loved every single bite! This was a much needed trip after a very long time apart and we enjoyed our stay so much. Thank you to Amanda and Joe!…
