At one time this was someone's home, and staying the night conveys that warm and comfortable feeling. The woodwork is beautiful, it is furnished appropriately, tastefully decorated, very well kept (clean). Even the proprietors, Justin and Cheryl, go out of their way to make sure you feel at home. My wife and I had a very quiet, relaxing stay. We will be sure to come again.
We stayed at Tarry Here just four days after the new owners took ownership. Stayed just one night and enjoyed the short time spent in the area. The home is beautiful, the hosts were very accommodating, and would definitely return.
We stayed at Tarry Here bed & breakfast price was good (No hidden costs) Bob and Cheryl were great hosts. Room was very clean and had it's own bathroom. It was a short drive from the casino. Breakfast in the morning was very good and coffee was fresh. Would stay there again!! Richard ,Donna, Chuck Ellis
Spent a night at the Tarry Here after a concert at the Casino which is only a mile or two away. The bathroom facilities were evidently added to normal size bedrooms, which creates a cozy environment. The breakfast was delicious, the hosts gracious, informative and accommodating, the woodwork is breath-taking, the temperature in the rooms was perfect, and the bed superbly comfortable. The only reason for 4 not 5 stars is the size of the bathroom facility which ~may~ measure 20 square feet. If you are blessed with ample girth, you may struggle to use the shower enclosure. There is also an abandoned house next door which raised our eyebrows when pulling in.
We stay at Tarry Here whenever we are in the Allegheny Park/National Forest area. The mansion itself is am impressive work of art. All carved wood and in-laid oak floors, etc. Rooms are adequate size and impeccable clean, quiet and private. Toilet and sink are in all rooms. Our hosts always make us welcome. No hassles during check in or out. Breakfast was healthy and wholesome. Plenty of good coffee. We'll be back. (note: do not understand review from ladykierra "Odd first time at a B&B"?? )
Amazing experience here with Seneca Nation leader who had represented his Nation at the White House and his wife. Lovely and inspirational hosts. Enlightening stories. Beautiful house with lavish original detail. Ample tasty breakfast.
We love Tarry Here and stay every year when we ski at Holiday Valley! It's a short drive to the slopes, and the price is right with no taxes or hidden fees. Bob and Cheryl and their cute little white dog are friendly and make it feel like home away from home. We have stayed in nearly every room, and we like them all. There is a private bath for every room at Tarry Here, unlike some B&B's out there. Breakfast is always good too. Tarry Here is also popular with gamblers who frequent the nearby casino.
We had come up to this part of NY for a few events my spouse and I were participating in and thought we would try a Bed and Breakfast for the first time. Not sure after this experience if I ever want to do one again. We arrived there early I admit (about 2:45ish on a Friday) and found a pile of lumber on the front lawn, a dumpster of trash on the side of the house and a for sale sign. There was wood holding up the roof over the front porch and little throw rugs hiding power cords on the front porch. We went ahead and rung the door, and were greeted by Cheryl and a barking growling dog Colton (which is supposedly a hypoallergenic special breed). We were told immediately that she had misplaced my information (scary!) or she would have called me as they had a realtor and someone walking through the house since it was for sale and we couldn't put our belongings in the room yet. At this point I was ready to leave but we looked around anyways and went up the flight of stairs to the second floor and had our pick of rooms. Each bedroom has its own pedestal sink in the room and a door which opens into a corner shower and toilet area. Very small. One room has a separate bathroom and that is where we stayed in part because it's got the largest bathroom. Room was moderately furnished, no TV but a Bose sound system in the room, 2 dressers and one chair and the bed. Closet had a minimal amount of hangers and two robes from Seneca Alleganey casino (not in the best condition - one had a hole in the back center - we chose not to wear these) and also a a spare blanket and pillow in the closet. No TV, no phone, very few outlets to plug in devices. Room was exceptionally clean and quiet with a view of the dumpster. Stairs are your only option and all rooms are on the second floor so if you are physically challenged do not stay here. Once our room was selected we were asked about breakfast (sorry I don't think about breakfast in the middle of the day) and I also have a lot of health issues so I really didn't expect to eat breakfast at all or if so, eat only a little and as they stated breakfast started at 8 and my husband had to leave before then at 7. Perhaps we should have told them that earlier - as I said earlier first time in a B&B but I felt like I was interrogated about my health issues and pushed to even eat something. I don't always eat breakfast and honestly wasn't the selling point of staying there, then we were told where to go eat dinner and luckily she was wiling to let us plug in our cooler and we left. When we came back, both Bob and Cheryl, and a barking Colton was there being friendly but almost feeling like an interrogation. If you like super talkative people who treat you like you are staying at a relative maybe this is for you but I prefer my privacy, not to be asked a bunch of questions and to not feel like I have to sneak up to my room with my husband of over 10 years! They will sit with you during breakfast and talk to you all about their personal life and ask you about your plans so if you like to read or do something during breakfast that is out. I know way more about their health, sales attempts of the B&B and personal life than I really wanted to know. Also as soon as you walk in the door the dog will bark or if you come down the stairs the dog will growl and bark. I love dogs but I didn't get away to be barked and growled at! They will call the casino shuttle for you but note the shuttle will come quite quickly, also they use the same kitchen for their own food as they do for breakfast so if you are there around their dinner time you will smell their dinner. Upon check-in only my credit card was run - they never checked my ID, did not take my car info, did not have me sign anything, no home rules, I even heard a few people call for a room without credit card and they will take those too. I think if you wanted to make up info and pay cash this is the place to stay ( which seemed a bit scary to me). Heck we were never even told time of checkout and I actually had to ask the maid to leave our bathroom so I could use it - and it was only 10am at that time! At least it was getting cleaned - the entire time we were there not once was the trash removed from the bedroom or bathroom and you are given one set of towels and that is it (we were there 3 nights - not once an offer to freshen up the room). So the positives are that it is near the casino, very clean, memory foam mattress on the bed and memory foam pillows were nice, and it was quiet even with a full house of people the one night. Negatives are the nosy nature of the owners, the dog, the lack of freshening up the room, the lack of disclosure on the sale/construction of the house and parking is very minimal - if you have a truck or a full size/large vehicle and they are full you may not have a space to park and there is no noticeable nearby off street parking, if you are in the living room trying to relax, even with the main TV off, you will still hear the TV in the owners private quarters. Also for those who don't have cell phones - I didn't see a single phone you could use there so plan ahead. They do have wifi but you have to ask for the password and I felt like I was barked at the password as if they didn't want to give it out. I wanted a getaway to relax - this wasn't it.…
This is by far the best B & B we have stayed in. Bob and Sheryl are wonderful hosts and make us feel like family every year as we return. We always look forward to going back. The rooms are beautifully decorated as is the rest of the mansion. Breakfast is as you like and coffee is always fresh and hot.
Thank you thank you thank you. Bob (Chub) & Cheryl and Colton too...... Everything was so wonderful. The Home the Hosts the Breakfast. We were in Salamanca for a Memorial for a loved one, the Church was up the road from the B&B, how lucky we were to have found the Tarry Here. The early morning conversation with our homemade breakfast was incredible. We told everyone at the Memorial Service how terrific the Tarry Here is and we look forward to staying there again.
