Was staying with my fiancee at a friends house in Southampton for 3 nights and decided to extend our stay by booking Barons Cove in Sag Harbor for Wed & Thurs night. Only had 1 room left over but was assured that it was a prime suite with water views. The bill came to $2,200.00 for the 2 nights including resort fees and taxes. That's twice what I've ever paid before at any location but the weather forecast was great so we said why not. Room turned out to be a very tight, dark and dingy motel room with a damp mold smell. Tiny bedroom and front sitting room with a pull out sofa but was a ground floor unit with a dark covered patio out front by the pool. Very disappointing to say the least but they had only the one room so we sucked it up. Stay was ok....the main house / bar area was very nice and the pool was good also except for the very slow service....up to a 30min wait for drinks every time we ordered. Pool service & bar service, though polite, obviously understaffed. To add insult to injury we found a gel odor absorbing "package" under the bed when we were checking out which means the hotel staff knew of the mold/damp smell in the room. I spoke to the front desk when we were checking out and they gave us a 15% / $300 discount but it still pains me to think I paid over $1000 per night for what is prob only worth $250-$400. We won't be back !

In the age of Covid, no place better for a quick getaway. Felt at ease from second we arrived. Grounds are gorgeous. Rooms were spotless. All staff wore PPE. Ask for Pascal if you go. He is prob the best head concierge we have ever come across in 30 yrs of international travel!! Close proximity to so many fab restaurants and shops. Love the pool menu too!

My family and I just returned last night from our 4 day stay at Barons Cove Sag Harbor. We're very familiar with the area and have rented homes in Sag Harbor and surrounding towns for many years. Due to Covid we were left to explore new avenues as all home rentals were taken months in advance. The property is centrally located right behind Main St, which is very convenient and even better that there is ample on-site parking. The grounds were well maintained, everything appeared well kept and fresh with lots of beautiful hydrangeas throughout. We booked a Harbor view Loft, which boasted 'ocean views'. All lofts are located on the 2nd floor just above the pool area and the harbor view overlooks just that- a boat harbor; while not 'ocean views' it is still very nice. We were pleasantly surprised with how large the loft was, which afforded my family of 3 plenty of space to lounge and not feel like you were too cramped. The king size bed above was very comfortable , and the trundle bed in the couch worked out great. Our issues with our stay were not with the property as we felt everything was well appointed and most importantly, properly sanitized and clean. We would definitely rate the property and our room a 4/5 stars. The only thing we would change is better air conditioning in the top loft, or even a ceiling fan because it gets very hot! Our issues were that the property seems poorly managed. I'm not sure if it's due to lack of staff and/or if they're dealing with an unprecedented influx in guests. Check-in day we received a text confirmation letting us know they were flexible but that we were slated for a 4pm arrival. We arrived in the lobby at 3pm seeing if we could luck out with early access. We were given our room number & keys but were told that housekeeping was still tending to the room and was on track for us to take entry at 4pm but that we would be receiving a follow up text to confirm. 4:20 rolls around- no text and no update, 4:30 comes , we call the front desk; housekeeping is still in the room they need another 15 minutes, 4:45 comes and we still see housekeeping outside of our room. 5pm comes and we see our room door open but decide to take a peak inside to see the status. The cleaning crew seemed to be done as they were waiting outside with our door open; not sure why, but they were pleasant and told us we could go inside. We began to unpack and quickly noticed we had no electricity on our main floor, and not a single light bulb in both our bathroom, entry way or above our bar. We walked back to the front desk to be told that it we were incorrectly given access to the room and it was not yet ready (it was now 5:30, check in was at 4). Chuck at the front desk switched us to a 'new' room from 201 to 211, gave us new keys and sent us on our way- low and behold, room 211 was still occupied! Now, they're at full capacity and there are no rooms to switch to. We go back to 201 and we're told an electrician has been called. Luckily, they were able to resolve our issue, and by 6:30 pm we had a new manager (cant remember her name, but she was nice enough) let us know everything was taken care of and accommodated us for the situation. The pool service staff is very friendly and accommodating 5/5 stars, housekeeping is fantastic and very sweet 5/5 stars, the waitstaff at their restaurant were surprisingly unfriendly and the service was less then mediocre at all our dining experiences there. However, our continued disappointment was in the front desk. They are impossible to reach, (a work around to this is call the restaurant & be transferred), but they were just monumentally unhelpful, unaccommodating and unpleasant. The final straw was an issue at check out, we were told by Stephanie the day prior that check out is at 1, and late check outs can be accommodated if the hotel is not at capacity. On our last day when we inquired about checking out late for the day, we were now told our check out has changed from 1 to 12, and they cannot accommodate an extension. After a brief banter with Stephanie, she was willing to adjust our check out back to 1. This property would be much better served with more experienced front desk staff, and better communication with their guests. We enjoyed the property, so we would stay again, but are hopeful that new staffing takes place in the mean time. ** also, helpful tip, the pool opens at 8am, in order to snag a lounge chair and umbrella, you need to be there no later than 8:10am, literally. Or, find a nice staff member and tip them generously to reserve and set up a spot for you.

This was my second stay at Baron's Cove, and I continue to highly recommend it. It has a wonderful beachy-preppy vibe, with particularly good breakfasts. It's a quick walk to the main street, and the view of the boats gives you a true vacation feeling. I am writing this review in particular because of how well the manager Mario handled a difficult situation. When we arrived at our initial room, we discovered a significant bee's nest in the doorway. Mario arrived on the scene, arranged for an exterminator right away, moved us to a different room and gave us some very generous compensations for our troubles. He was quick to respond, and unflappable even when I was initially quite upset with our situation. He is a true professional, and an asset to the resort. My only negative comment is that the hotel should not suggest that early check in is an option when it is unlikely that it will be. It is very difficult to arrive for a vacation without a home base, especially during this Covid time.

Our table of 3 had dinner this past Sunday evening. The new Chef is a true talent. The 3 main entrees: Lobster Roll, Ravioli and Roasted Chicken were executed perfectly. Delicious food, very good service and an overall A+ Sunday dinner. Kasia, the Accounting / HR Manager set up a splendid evening. Thank you Kasia! What a gem to have a fantastic restaurant part of the best hotel Out East! We can’t wait to return in the coming weeks/months!!
