Stopped in on Halloween. Had a wonderful lunch at the bar. Enjoyed both lunch and chatting with Dennis the bartender. Will definitely return for dinner when back in the area. Beautifully decorated hotel!

This is a cute historic hotel right in town. Room was a good size, clean, with everything you need for a weekend away at a reasonable price (~$500/night) in prime season. Breakfast is complimentary but the service is very slow and we were seated in a back room each time. I made the mistake of planning to "work from home" here on Friday and the wifi could not support my company's remote work platform. I ended up having to connect to my cell phone hot spot.

This restaurant has the most beautiful table top and ambiance. The food is excellent quality and is presented beautifully. The service is good but the staff is a little full of themselves, making you feel like you are lucky to be there. Making the experience more pleasant was a young host named Orlando, who was very sincere in welcoming us and at least smiled as he went overboard to accommodate us. I have owned fine dining restaurants for over 50 years and understand hospitality. We LOVED the hotel accommodations especially the great breakfast which was included. Again, the front desk ladies never smiled or could care less about the guests. They seemed always put off when a hotel guest had a request.

Restaurant is elegant at any time of the year. Guest rooms are individually decorated in this 1846 house. It has some 17,000 wines. An excellent choice to have breakfast, lunch and dinner, as I have done for many years.

Hmmmm Was So excited to go this much beloved place we had heard so much about. My autumnal Soup was excellent. Bread served was hard as a rock & cold. We asked for fresh & it was perfect. My flounder was good but not outstanding - & the autumnal vegetables were too hard to cut. Mashed potatoes fine but not outstanding & NOT hot. tried my husband’s sole & it tasted rubbery. He liked it. My friend shared a bite of her scallop topped with lobster. She liked it.I thought it was terrible & the lobster bite rubbery & fishy not in a good way… if I could have spit it out without being rude I would have. If I could redo I would eat the soup & an appetiser crab cake for my meal. Strawberry shortcake that people raved about was not amazing. At least to me. Where did I get so picky ?! I have had amazing food in amazing places so will consider this a one off & will try it again next time. Keep expectations in check.Setting lovely.

I visited this restaurant years ago. We sat outside and enjoyed nice cocktails along with apps so I wanted to come back. This time around we got seated in a back dark room, the room was dingy. The table had a large bottle of sanitizer on it which just doesn’t set the mood for fine dining. I ordered the Organic Chicken Paillard Grillé. It was average at best with literally one small potato cut in half with very few green beans. A $36 entree with one mini potato! I wouldn’t recommend this dish, the seafood that was coming out looked a bit better value. After eating at the Bridgehampton Inn Restaurant the night before- which was a spectacular experience (staff, atmosphere, food and drinks) I guess nothing could compare.

We had dinner at the American Hotel on February 10 for a birthday visit. It could not have been better. The wine list is amazing, our dinners were wonderful, and the staff was great. We were planning to choose another restaurant, but instead we did our 2nd night dinner at the American Hotel. We were just as happy with our 2nd dinner, the dinner and wine was great. We will be back!

No complaint with the food. The Duck was a large portion cooked just right. The Cesar Salad could have had more anchovies. The bread was to die for. Crispy crusty and just right. Great desert as well. I know we were fine dining, but I still think the restaurant is pricy.
