Hmm, did you call the front desk and request maintenance help? Our room was a bit warm the first night but it was because I didn't realize that the HVAC was turned off at the thermostat - I hadn't checked it, unusual for me. Once I adjusted the temperature down a bit, and set the fan for continuous "ON", we were perfectly comfortable the second night.
You are certainly entitled to a comfortable room, I would always call the front desk if it was some simple adjustment. As you noted, the staff at this Hilton is great - I would expect that you would get immediate assistance and that they would move you to another room if the problem could not be remedied quickly.
