The hotel was very cool - the Town was a little slow Most stores were closed -really great restaurant across the street called the garden-The owner there prepare food all day long and sings and dances at night while you are dining-Music and dancing from her hometown of Jordan -Close to hiking trails abandoned mines and the historical Mohonk Mountain House we will definitely return one day-(and also like to mention Kyle at the front desk was very helpful and very informative about places and things to do in the area)
My husband and I had a fantastic overnight stay at the 1850 House. The staff go out of their way to make everything perfect. Our room was super comfortable and impeccably clean (room 10). The location is ideal for trying several of the local restaurants literally steps from the Inn. We will definitely stay at the 1850 House Inn and Tavern next time we are in Rosendale, you should too!
Had a great overnight stay. I had toured the Inn right after the original renovation and always wanted to get back. I’m so glad we finally did!, The Room was cozy and private. It’s in a great location in Rosendale. You can walk to everything in this small Main Street town. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. They left me their contract numbers in case I needed anything, day or night. I can’t rate the breakfast because it was COVID style. There’s some great local dining. Don’t miss this one!,
My first review was in 2012 shortly after the inn was renovated and we were so happy with our stay. The return 9 years later was great - the perfect getaway from pandemic stress. The room is comfortable and the location is charming. Kyle took care of everything we needed. It will not be another 9 years before we return!
We had a very enjoyable two night stay at the 1850 Inn. The room was well appointed, the bed comfy and the breakfast of coffee tea pastries yogurt and fruit more than adequate. The cooler temperatures prevented us from enjoying the spacious deck for breakfast but we did take an opportunity to rock in the rockers overlooking the Rondout Creek. Most of our contact with hotel staff was virtual but they were uniformly pleasant and helpful. Best of all, the Inn was located in Rosendale a low key funky alternative to Woodstock or New Paltz if you are in the area.
With all the stress of the pandemic crushing us, my wife organised a few days out of NYC. The Rosendale hamlet was the break we needed, and the 1850 House was the perfect spot to stay! The room was impeccable, and they let us leave our luggage before check in, so we could look around. We had purchased some cheeses at the Farmer's Market, and they kindly took it to our room, and put it in the fridge for us, while we were out! The attached Tavern, is a great place to eat. Sadly, it was only one one night during our stay, otherwise we would have been regulars in there! Rosendale is tiny, so it's easy to see everything in one day, for the most part. A couple of nearby hiking trails helped us get out into the "wild" and breathe fresh air (without our masks). We pondered just how wonderful it would be to stay here, not during a pandemic. We would happily return here, with no hesitation.…
This Inn was a delightful oasis from arrival to departure; it is luxurious in a low key way, friendly, warm and accommodating. All three in our party were struck by the warmth and generosity of its owner and staff.
My husband and I were married in April of 2019 and had our accommodations and reception at the 1850 House. The day was everything we could ask for and more. Joseph went above and beyond to make our day extra special. He is an extraordinary host. The 1850 House is cozy and charming, it was the perfect intimate venue for our day and everything we invisoned. I highly recommend 1850 for any special occasion.
We have stayed here twice now and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The Inn is beautifully kept and the staff are extremely inviting. You feel like you are staying with family. Be aware that there are no elevators so you will be using the stairs to get to your room. The decor is lovely and a great change from the chain hotels. There is a porch overlook the creek where you can enjoy food, drinks or just relax. Breakfast served by Katherine is a gourmet treat. Highly recommend.
Had a dinner for seven on the patio in Rosendale, NY. Interesting and delicious fare at this old tavern and inn. The gouda mac and cheese was excellent. The friendliness and efficient service stood out as well. I imagine that this would be the place to stay in Rosendale which is 30 miles south of Woodstock and 8 from Kingston.
