The Motel is very affordable but you get what you pay for. We stayed one night and I would recommend that's all you stay for. The room we had overlooks the fountain across the street at the Municipal Water facility. The room itself was extremely dated and needed a thorough overhaul. It came across as more of a cabin feel... Like other reviews, yes the décor is dated, but if your looking for a nice size room, clean, the hot water is hot, and it's quite, then Fountain View fits the bill. Short drive to Fly Creek Cider Mill and Cooperstown. Was there for 4 days for the Madison- Brockville Antique Show, about a half hours drive. Note to motorcycle... More

We stay here every year when we visit Glimmerglass opera. Other motels nearer Cooperstown have prices $200 or more a night. We just need a comfy clean place to stay. $85 for a double room; fridge, microwave. Works for us. We sit outside in the evening and in the morning and enjoy the view. Sometimes we need to air out... I expected that this motel would be dated and old fashioned. But reviews had stated that it was clean and pleasant. It was indeed clean, but unfortunately our room was VERY musty smelly. It was a cool night for July, so we figured we would turn on the heat to help with the musty smell. But the heater did not... More

Quiet neighborhood. The owners run the place and are friendly. The rooms are in need of updating. The bathroom has old tiling and the bathtub needs a better curtain - when showering the curtain blows into the shower an hits you. Mir it hits you, it had hit everyone else who has showered before you. I was trying to get... More

Clean but be prepared for original 60s style everything. Dark paneling on the walls, old lighting and a/c, decor, curtains, etc. Also, the fountain isn't actually on their property and is across the street. Wouldn't stay there again but at least the bed was clean and comfortable. Only 2 really flat pillows though.

I stayed at the Fountain View for 4 days. It was very relaxing & a great experience. The owner Ed was very nice & helpful. The room was spotless & very resonablily priced. The lake & fountain were very nice, I even saw deer at dusk. I will definetly stay again.

It's not often that a hotel with terribly out of date décor and an older TV is given a "Very Good" rating. But, this is an exception. The Fountain View Motel is in many ways from a bygone era. Take red carpeting, green curtains, faux wood paneling and what do you get? A pleasant, quiet stay at a reasonable price.... More

So, the furnishings are "vintage" and the TV not quite the latest model. So what! If you are looking for a CLEAN, INEXPENSIVE FAMILY-OWNED MOTEL, then Fountain View is a great choice in the middle of Baseball Hall of Fame tourist season. And, in off season, it is the best recommendation in the area as far as right on U.S.... More

Just dealing with the man on duty when I called for a room made me not even think about staying here. It was cheaper than other places in town but kindness goes a long ways. Just think if you are inconveniencing them over the phone just imagine how your stay will be. I highly recommend you stay elsewhere.

I was checking-in a guest when this reviewer called. Since we were almost finished, I asked the caller if I could put him on hold for a second but he said, "No." Okay, I was stuck. I answered the caller's many questions as politely as I could while the guest I was tending to was starting to do the "pee-pee... More
