Saw an ad on LinkedIn for 5 small towns in America to add to your bucket list..Rhinebeck was one and the Rhinecliff Inn just our side of town right on the river...ignore any complaints about a train, it is so infrequent and only adds a nice atmosphere to the entire experience...fabulous two nights and the train ride into the city was a convenient activity...very rustic excellent accommodations...

This is a unique, small hotel, separated from the banks of the Hudson River by train tracks. The trains don't come roaring through - they stop at the Rhinebeck station which is in front of the hotel. The view of the Hudson River is spectacular. The suite we stayed in has a large, private roof deck - really special. Great shower, jetted tub and comfy bed. Can't wait to return!

My wife and I recently spent a night here on our first trip to the Hudson Valley together. I am originally from NY and had been here before on my own, but was selling her on the area as a first-time visitor. The Rhinecliff was the first place we stayed, and with its panoramic river views and modern in-room amenities, it did not disappoint. It sits about 2 miles from the town of Rhinebeck, the quintessential upstate respite. The slight distance is actually an advantage, at night there is nothing between your ear and eternity but a pin and a train whistle. Custom lotions and soaps abound, and the breakfast and French-pressed coffee are substantial. Please don't miss nearby Poet's Walk in the morning (just ask), a worthy spiritual jaunt to start any day in the country. My wife

The room had a fabulous view of the Hudson river with a balcony to watch the sunset. It was also equipped with a 2 person Jacuzzi in a large comfortable room. The train sounds were soothing (to me anyway) and the bed comfy. We had a great night's sleep and highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Absolutely gorgeous water view from our room with a little balcony on the third floor. So peaceful and relaxing! The beds are extremely comfortable, the staff is friendly and there is a cute bar downstairs. Breakfast is included, and it is wonderful! Not the skimpy continental variety, but numerous egg dishes, bacon, French toast, pancakes, etc. are available. The only caveat is that our room had a large, high tub that was a bit difficult to get in and out of. There was no grab bar, so depending on how old or agile you are, it could pose a problem. There was both a "rain shower" from the ceiling and a European hand held shower on the side of the tub, but I missed the standard walk in shower. There may be other bathroom options in different rooms, so you may want to check

We decided to look for a place to stay overnight and came across the Rhinecliff. We stopped in to check room availability and they said they were booked solid so we left. As we started to drive away, the man at the front desk ran after us to say there may be an open room but he had to check with the manager to see if he could let us have it for the night. Fortunately for us, we were allowed to stay. Our room was clean and spacious. Our breakfast the following morning was delicious! We loved being right on the water. It was definitely noisy because of the trains, but that was to be expected. There were earplugs in the room, but we chose not to use them.

This is a beautifully renovated inn with convenient location to Hyde Park, wine country, Culinary Institute, West Point, etc. and directly on the Hudson. Gorgeous views of the river, luxurious bath and comfy bed. The included breakfast is bountiful and tasty. If the weather is good you can dine and drink on the terrace. Staff is professional, friendly and attentive. One caveat, believe them when they warn that the train passes right by the inn. It didn't bother me because I expected it and like trains, but it is very loud. It is quiet at night and the ear plugs work. Also, the structure is an old inn so while they have done a renovation on all the interior, you can still hear a lot of creaks in the floors above. Again, ear plugs work.

We stayed here for a wedding for one night and rented the fourth person suite at this lovely country hotel / restaurant. The surrounding view from the hotel is beautiful & scenic. There’s even an active passenger train stop. I only heard it come by once or twice. The food was delicious and the service exceptional especially the bar staff. I would definitely recommend this place for a wedding or even a weekend getaway.

We had a very nice visit to the Hudson Valley, spending three nights at the Rhinecliff. The room was nice, with a view of the river and the trains, which we enjoyed watching. One strange quirk was the TV. We couldn't figure out how to turn it on. We must not have been alone as they provided a two page printout of instructions. This proved to be no help at all so we ended up getting a staff member to turn it on for us. Not a big deal. Also, the print material we were sent indicated that the bar and restaurant were closed for the season. Happily, this was not true, and we enjoyed several nice meals outdoors. The small plates were just the right size at dinner, and the included breakfast choices were all quite substantial. We hope to visit again.

The room and the view were wonderful. The spa tub was delightful. The breakfast menu and food were great! Love the apple & cranberry compote on my french toast. Trains? What trains? Oh yeah. We heard them when we were awake and were an exciting part of the location, but they didn't bother us at all.
