Just returned from a 3-night stay with Edith- she took great care of us at her Bittersweet B&B- Super breakfasts each morning stoked us for excursions to Rhinebeck's downtown, Culinary Institute of America (CIA) lunch, a stroll at Omega Institute and Innesfree Garden and a visit to Tuthilltown Distillery- Gorgeous Hudson River Valley area, laid-back and friendly people made a... This quaint bed and breakfast is nestled in the woods of Rhinebeck and to get to town was very easy. Also very close to the Omega Institute and other beautiful places in the Hudson Valley. The owner Edith is absolutely delightful and made sure she got up long before any of us did to insure we had coffee and breakfast... More

After travelling from Australia to Rhinebeck, USA and numerous emails between the B&B and myself we arrived only to find that the B&B did not have our booking in the penciled diary and we had No Bed and No Breakfast....not good when the town was host to the Wool and Sheep Expo for the weekend and all accommodation was solidly... So upsetting!!!! I planned a special birthday celebration for my sister and this B & B was such a disappointment. The room is very musty!!!! There are cobwebs all over. You would never walk on the carpeting without shoes, the wallpaper is peeling. In some spots brown scotch tape is holding it together. You can't open the windows. They are... More

Edith Thomas and the 200+ year old dutch colonial deliver the charm. We stayed in rear room with high ceilings, high plush bed, divan and chock full of knickknacks. Balcony view out over the wild flower strewn field and pond. Lots of wild birds, including a few hummingbirds in the front garden. Great full breakfast. Had excellent dinner at Terrapin.... More

My wife and I have been coming back to The Bittersweet for years (about 15 years). The house is old, but it has character... this is no Motel 6. The grounds are pretty, the breakfasts are wonderful, "our room" (we always stay in Room 3, because it has views in three directions through the windows) is large and comfortable, the... More

We arrived early and Edith greeted us with a smile. I asked for directions to town so that we may return when is was appropriate to check in. When we came back, around 2pm the room was ready. The home is over 300 years old so things do go bump in the night [and day]. We had a Queen size... More

Edith Thomas is as hospitable, seasoned, accommodating and warm as any B&B owner I've ever met. This was my girlfriend's first stay in a B&B and we both LOVED IT. Old quaint, quiet and everything an experience like this should be. The room we stayed in was big and nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed. Sure, the bathroom wallpaper... More

Yes, this B & B is old, yes there are a lot of antiques, yes, the garden may need attention, yes the rooms are old, but, you will never find an Innkeeper more dedicated than Edith Thomas. She is the tops in my book. From the moment your greeted by Edith throughout your stay, Edith will do whatever she can... More

Being a native New Yorker who resides in Miami, a tropical getaway is a few blocks away. My husband and I wanted to take a trip back down memory lane to where it all began. We met at Omega in Rhinebeck and due to seasonal hours we could not stay at Omega for our winter honeymoon, we choose to stay... More
