The New Owners Have Turned this Place Around
This is our second stay at River Edge. The first time we stayed there 3 years ago the rooms were cluttered with furniture and it felt rather like we were staying in Grandma's attic. We were also put off by the requirement that if you wanted a hot breakfast you had to eat at a specific time. Needless to say we were not planning to stay there again. But is very close to family and so when my husband noticed that it had new owners I called and spoke to Rebecca. She was so warm on the phone and enthusiastic about their plans for the mansion that we decided to book a room for a 3 night stay. Generally we do not stay in B&B's as we prefer privacy but John and Rebecca (and Riley the golden retriever) were such wonderful hosts and fun to talk to that we felt like we were having breakfast with old friends from the very first morning. They've cleaned up the house and thinned out the furnishings in the bedrooms and public areas so the rooms are nicer now. This is a old mansion that was not built to be a guest house so you find large rooms with bathrooms carved out of other spaces. The room we stayed in had a particularly small bathroom which we understand will be changed sometime in the future. We can't wait to see what they've done a year from now when we make our next visit to the area!

    A Peaceful Haven in Syracuse
We had a wonderful one night stay and felt safe and truly pampered. Anne was a perfect host. She brought wine, cheese and fruit to our room on arrival, and cooked a delicious breakfast that accommodated our food restrictions. The two rooms we reserved were clean and beautifully decorated and we had our own sitting area with coffee, tea, cookies and freshly baked pastries. We will most certainly return to the lovely River Edge Mansion B & B.
Thank you! You, your husband and daughter are delightful people and I look forward to welcoming you back to the Mansion.

    Wonderful Retreat
From the time we walked in, we were welcomed and treated like family. Our room was absolutely beautiful, with the fireplace and whirlpool tub putting the icing on the cake. It felt like stepping back in time. We enjoyed all the views that the balcony had to offer, including getting the chance to watch a thunderstorm roll through! The river was so peaceful, and was a wonderful back drop to our delicious morning breakfast. And we can not forget about Ms.Bella. She really made our stay. She was the sweetest pup, and her waiting at the door for us made our faces light up! Anne was such a wonderful host, and complied with all the guidelines to make us feel safe during our stay. We were nervous about staying at our first bed and breakfast, but that feeling went right away after meeting her.

I just wrote a long review and it disappeared when I tried to sign in. So I'm just going to tell you it was wonderful, give a short review and if you want more details go to the River Edge site, it is very accurate. The mansion and decor are beautiful. Breakfast was delicious each time. Very relaxing. John and Rebecca takes care of you without being intrusive. Their dog, Riley, is a sweet heart. We stayed for a week but this would also be a place for a relaxing weekend get away. Their prices are comparable to the typical chain hotels in the area. They treated us way better than a certain downtown 5 star hotel we stayed in last year. You will not be disappointed.

My Christmas gift from my husband was a night stay at the River Edge Mansion B & B for our anniversary. What an amazing place full of rich history! The owners, John & Rebecca and Riley, their beautiful and well behaved dog, made us feel so welcome and gave us a tour of their beautiful home and shared the history behind it. This was our first time here but NOT our last. We felt like royalty at breakfast which was an experience itself. Rebecca's culinary skills were not only delicious but beautifully presented. John shared stories of the beautiful art work throughout the home along with its history. By the time we left, we felt more like friends than guests. It was a place we would HIGHLY recommend to anyone! Looking forward to our next time there!

My wife and I stayed for one night traveling back from Maine to Cleveland. This was the perfect stopping off place for us and we were so pleased. The whole home is beautiful and has a fascinating history as we learned from the innkeepers. Our room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely mark this location for the future and recommend it highly to others.

Rebecca and John, the innkeepers, just bought this historic home in January 2022. They have accomplished an amazing amount in a relatively short time and are looking forward to more improvements. Even so, it is warm and welcoming. From the fresh made coffee outside your room in the morning to the curbside pick-up at the Syracuse Airport by Rebecca, you feel like special family members. And Riley, the golden retriever, also makes sure you feel welcome. I have some sever dietary restrictions, so imagine my surprise when Rebecca whipped up a grain free lemon blueberry muffin just for me. My friend and I visited several B&B's during our NY excursion, but hands down, this was our best breakfast. The River Edge Rose, a visual and scrumptious delight of thinly sliced potatoes and bacon, makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

This was my first experience in staying in a bed and breakfast place and it was awesome. The mansion is still a work in progress but Becca and John have done a wonderful job in getting it restored to its former glory. I loved the coffee tray early in the morning, so you could enjoy it on the porch before heading downstairs for breakfast. The breakfast was lovely and I loved Becca's own potato/bacon flower creation! Overall I really enjoyed myself at this lovely mansion and hope to come back soon! Thank you Becca and John!!

River Edge Mansion Bed and Breakfast was the perfect addition to our Upstate New York trip! The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We mentioned that my husband only drinks decaf coffee and John went out to get some for us the next morning. The breakfast was so delicious! The potato/bacon flowers and the lemon blueberry muffins were incredible. They have only owned it a few months and are working hard to make many improvements to the property. Becca and John were very friendly, engaging and helped us decide on places to visit while we were in the area.

I wish that I had received the experience in all the reviews I read before booking this bed and breakfast. The reviews all spoke of a warm and welcoming environment with a gracious host and a friendly pup to boot. If I had wanted an impersonal, off hands, unwelcoming environment I would have booked a hotel or an Airbnb. I am assuming that the change in experience has to do with the fact that the bed and breakfast is currently for sale. Had I been aware of this before confirming my reservation I would have secured alternate lodging. When confirming my reservation, I stated that my husband and myself would arrive between 3-3:30 pm. When we arrived a few minutes after 3 pm we were unable to access the house. After waiting a few minutes, I called both numbers that were provided in my confirmation e-mail and both numbers went straight to voicemail. After approximately ten minutes of waiting outside and ringing the doorbell a lady opened the door and stated that she was a guest and not the host. She graciously left us inside and stated that no one else was there and that when she had arrived back a short while ago things seemed in disarray. After waiting inside for about ten more minutes I left another voicemail and sent a text message. At 3:40 pm I heard the side door open, and a lady walked in with other guests behind her. She was surprised to see me and stated that she was told that I wouldn’t be arriving until after 5 pm. In our brief conversation she mentioned that the confusion was most likely because the bed and breakfast was for sale. She walked us to our room where the door was already wide open with the key in the lock. She handed me the key and gave me the code to the house. She stated to text her in case of an emergency and that a different person would be there both on Saturday and Sunday to cook breakfast. In our description of the room it was stated that a coffee tray would be left outside of our door each morning. This was not done and I am not sure if the Keurig that was in our room was to replace this but once again this was not communicated. The information sheet in the room stated that garbage could be left outside of our room on the table and it would be removed however this was also not done. The room was to be refreshed each day according to the information sheet but no one completed this service either. Overall the environment was just not welcoming and we felt like intruders. The benefit of staying in this type of accommodations over others is a more homey experience and this was certainly not the case. The house itself was beautiful and the room itself was a delight with a comfortable bed and gorgeous furnishings. I would suggest waiting until this bed and breakfast is sold as the current owners seem to have lost all desire to be gracious hosts.

I am so sorry you did not receive the attention you deserved, although I m glad you found the house itself beautiful and your room a delight with a comfortable bed and gorgeous furnishings. I needed to suddenly be away from the Mansion and my choice was to either cancel your visit with one day's notice or find a friend to care for you. In retrospect I should have asked whether you would have preferred to cancel rather than have a typical AirB&B hand's off type of experience. I'm flattered that my presence was of such importance! I hoped the Keurig in your room would have helped, but alas you were forced to make your own coffee.
