Detailed Reviews
On a roadtrip that I specifically left unplanned I had the wonderful experience of staying at the Belva Lockwood Inn. I was so appreciative of the last minute accommodations, Brie, the innkeeper personally took my reservation mid afternoon for that same night, and along with her husband, greeted me upon arrival. The house is gorgeous, meticulously maintained with so many historical items to look at. The room was spacious, the bed was dreamy, and I loved the view of the river out the beautiful original wooden shutters. The ensuite bathroom was modern, the shower was intuitive, and the provided bath robe was an extra special touch. A picnic basket breakfast was delivered outside the bedroom door, and the scone warm as if it were just out of the oven ensured my day's adventure began wonderfully. Everything about the Belva Lockwood Inn was outstanding: location on the water and in a cute historic town, the impressive history of the namesake, the knowledge and friendliness of the innkeepers (and their sweet elderly dog!), the bedroom, the breakfast - truly among the best b&bs, and lodgings in general, that I have stayed in. As a solo traveler I felt warmly welcomed. I highly recommend the Belva Lockwood Inn to anyone who may be traveling thru the Fingerlakes region!

Excellent stay in an extremely comfortable, cozy hospitable inn within walking distance of town. The inn keepers Matthew and Bria clearly love hosting and go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. Breakfasts are delivered via baskets and are scrumptious! Guests can help themselves to snacks and beverages, including a daily complimentary alcoholic beverage each day of your stay. The outdoor wrap around porch is comfy and lovely for relaxing and the indoor furnishings are very well appointed. I slept great in the beds and the house is solidly built and quiet- we never heard any noise from other guests or rooms. The location is ideal for exploring several hot spots including Watkins Glen, the Ithaca Farmers Market and gorges, falls, and Corning Museum. Highly recommend!

We booked the Belva Lockwood Inn as a midpoint stop on our way home from a long road trip. We always prefer to stay at a bed and breakfast and explore a small town when traveling.
Belva Lockwood Inn is a true gem. We wish we would have made the Inn and this town a part of our trip and not just an overnight stop on the way home. The young couple who own the Inn are warm, friendly, and passionate about what they do. They have thought of everything. We received a warm welcome when we arrived after a long day of traveling. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It felt like something out of a Hallmark movie. Bree explained the history of the house and of Belva Lockwood. The history of the house is fascinating. It is a true part of American history.
The B&B was perfect in every way. We could not have asked for anything more. Breakfast is delivered in a picnic basket to your room each morning along with a pot of coffee. It contained a delicious egg dish, fruit, and an absolutely delectable pastry. On the second floor, there is a wide variety of snacks that are available 24/7 as well as a mini fridge containing plenty of bottled water and soda. There is also a coffee machine to make coffee or tea anytime you would like.
Our room was beautiful, comfortable, and had a view of the river. Upon checking into our room, there were two fresh, autumn decorated cookies, waiting for us on the mantle. Small touches like this are cozy and very much appreciated.
As if all of this wasn’t enough, upon check-in, guests are invited to make themselves one free drink at their very well stocked bar on the first floor!
If you are anywhere near Owego, NY, do yourself a favor and stay at this beautiful Inn. My husband surprised me with a gift certificate for Christmas and we are looking forward to our return visit!

My wife and I had the nicest stay at the Inn. Matt and Brie are wonderful hosts who greeted us upon our arrival, gave us a tour and a bit of the history of the Inn, shared a welcome glass of Prosecco, helped with our luggage and showed us to our room. Every room in the home is wonderfully decorated, clean and comfortable. The location of the Inn is perfect, just a block away from downtown Owego. We spent time on the front porch on a comfortable couch and rocking chair on a perfect evening. And then there was breakfast... over the top!!! French press coffee, juice, a homemade egg and cheese creation, scones and muffins... delivered in a delightful picnic basket right to the room! Thank you, Matt & Brie for a wonderful end to our vacation! - Chris & Joy Sadlo

Short story: This Inn is charming and comfortable. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. We had a great time there and we will be back! I highly recommend it!
My family and I stayed at the Belva Lockwood Inn during my daughter's graduation weekend. Now that the dust has settled from her Binghamton University graduation and moving her back home, I want to let everyone know that you should definitely plan a stay at the Inn! Brie, the owner of the Inn, and her partner Matt are friendly, warm, kind, and welcoming. They are dedicated to making sure their guests have a wonderful experience - and we sure did. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable, with modern conveniences but with the historic charm of the gorgeous Victorian home preserved and tastefully decorated. We woke up to the smell of a delicious breakfast being prepared each morning, which was delivered to our rooms in a picnic basket with real linen and flatware, and a carafe of coffee or tea. There is a spacious dining area and a full bar on site with prosecco on tap! A refreshments station is on the second floor, just steps from the rooms. There's a beautiful large porch with lots of comfortable seating. Lots of great information was on display about Belva Lockwood, an amazing historical figure. We all had a great time and it was so much better than staying at a generic hotel. A very easy 20 minute drive to Binghamton University. I can't say enough about this lovely inn and our great stay there.

My husband and I stayed for three nights at the Belva Lockwood Inn and it was amazing. First of all, Brie and Matt were so friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the house and its history and about the town of Owego as well. They are the perfect innkeepers! Secondly, the Inn is absolutely gorgeous, with so much history and original architectural details, but with all of the modern conveniences and furnished beautifully. My favorite part of the stay was having a pot of coffee delivered to our door every morning followed a little later by breakfast in a picnic basket! How cool is that?? And the breakfasts were absolutely delicious! My husband’s favorite part was the wonderful shower.
I can’t say enough about how perfect our stay was. Every detail was seen to from the beautiful rooms, the fresh flowers, the helpful suggestions of restaurants and places to go, the inviting bar and common areas, the food, to the incredibly well stocked complimentary snack bar on the second floor landing.
We definitely plan to return and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone staying in the area. It is very centrally located, with so much to do in this part of New York.

I cannot say enough good things about Matt and Bree or our stay at the Belva Lockwood Inn. Our accommodations were excellent, clean and airy. Due to a misstep on my part when booking the reservation, a mid-visit room move would be necessary. Bree took the extra time to review our booking and contacted other guests to accomodate us without our having to change our room. Over, above and beyond effort to accomodate us. This excellence in service is evident in every facet of our stay.
The amenities provided were of the quality one would find at a 5-star hotel. Toiletries, fluffy robes, fresh flowers, reading materials and television are all provided; making our stay feel more like "at home".
A complementary coffee, water, snack bar was provided 24hours a day. Our first cocktail was complimentary, and an honour bar was provided.
Breakfasts (which are included) were created with talent and variety. Bree even provided gluten-free pastries/muffins for one person in our party. There are ample areas to relax inside and outside on a gracious front porch.
Our hosts are friendly, welcoming and engaging. They take very particular interests in their guests, providing easy and enjoyable conversations. Matt and Bree are very knowledgeable about Owego,NY and they guided us on travel, dining and shopping.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Belva Lockwood Inn to anyone.

Our arrival began with a warm welcoming greeting from owners Brie & Matt. Followed by a tour of this beautifully appointed B&B by the delightful hostess Brie; of the living room area where you can sit & relax, to the fully stocked bar where you can fix yourself a "welcome drink", to the tour upstairs of 5 very diverse, unique and one history filled guest bedroom along with the counter by your room with coffee, cookies, munchies, mini chocolates, and a refrigerator stocked with sodas & water. Our very comfortable queen sized bed room -The Tioga, had views of the Susquehanna River.
Breakfast arrived at the appointed time in a picnic basket to outside our room, complete with plates, silverware, napkins, coffee mugs, a carafe of hot coffee, "real 1/2 'n 1/2, O.J, fresh fruit, a small warm spinach quiche, a blueberry scone and a yummy croissant. It was all such a pleasant surprise, when you are thinking; perhaps coffee & pastries!
In the evening we were able to sit on a very comfortable front/side porch to visit with dear longtime Owego friends who had highly recommended the Belva Lockwood B&B to us. We will definitely return for a stay again next time we are visiting from Florida.

We were looking for a place to stay one night in Owego on our way to a family reunion in Watkins Glen. After reading the reviews, we settled on the Belva Lockwood Inn. The innkeepers welcomed us as we got out of the car and they showed us to our room - the Knickerbocker. One whole wall of the room is made out of pieces of cut glass -illuminated by LED lighting. The bed was comfy and the room had a large walk-in shower.
There were all kinds of snacks and drinks, including complementary wine in the evening. For breakfast, we had a very delicious picnic basket full of goodies delivered to our room (taking into account our previously disclosed food allergies).
I had a chance to read more about the amazing Belva Lockwood and I don’t know why I had never heard of her before! She was a powerhouse woman who ran for President (two times) before women even had the right to vote. I really enjoyed our (too) short visit to the Belva Lockwood Inn!

I was so impressed with the easy check in process and warm welcoming from the inn keepers, Matt and Brie. From arrival to departure it was a wonderful experience. The breakfast that Brie delivers to your room in a picnic basket each morning was such a surprise and so delicious. My friend and I couldn’t wait to see what would be in the basket each morning. Some of the goodies included fresh fruit, fresh baked scones, acacia bowls, and always a fresh pot of hot coffee. Truly so delightful. My favorite part of the stay was lounging on the large front porch, ( sipping some wine), and watching all the people walk by. Every person seemed to look our way and give us a nice greeting. It is obvious that Matt and Brie have gotten to know many of the residents since they even knew the names of their pets as they took an evening stroll. The inn itself is so beautiful. We stayed in the 2 room suite which I would highly recommend, but took a tour of some of the other rooms which are equally as beautiful but each has their own different decor and story behind it. My friend and I enjoyed ourselves so much we made another reservation in the fall and decided to include our husbands. There are so many vineyards near the inn that are beautiful as well. Most are right on one of the lakes. In the fall we plan to go hiking a little to nearby waterfalls. I saw pictures of several that are amazing and can’t wait to see them. If you didn’t want to venture out, the inn is located in the village of Oswego, so everything is so close. You can walk to stores, gift shops, cafes, and even a wine bar. We ate in town several times and enjoyed our meals. Before I finish, I must include 2 things. First, Brie knows so much about the history behind Belva Lockwood and is eager to share with her guests. It is very interesting. Second, I didn’t mention the view! From the front porch there is a beautiful view of the river directly across the street. So relaxing in the morning and evening to enjoy the breeze off the water and peaceful scenery. Can’t wait to go back.
