Clean, convenient and comfortable. Would recommend staying here. Centrally located in a beautiful area that is filled with hiking, railroad rides, water sports and beautiful scenery. Nothing flashy, just right.
I only got in late at night because it was snowing in may(!) but I like to highlight motels like this to put it forward. The five star rating is certainly not for the hotel but for the value. As a traveler I appreciate being able to find clean safe but reasonably priced stays and this fit the bill perfectly. As others noted it was (very) clean feeling without the toxic chemical smell you get in some cheaper motels it was cheap and clean and comfortable. Really seemingly everything you could want in a stay like this to rest your head. The guy running it is also very friendly.
We came up on our motorcycle to spend a night in Old Forge and was able to enjoy our stay. We had a motorcycle breakdown a quarter mile before we arrived. Steve, the owner, was very accommodating in helping us out making phone calls for towing and the repair shop since we did not have cell phone service there. He communicated with us regularly to see if there was anything more he could do for us. The room was quiet and clean. The beds were comfortable. We look forward to our next stay. Thank you, Eddy and Jeanette Angell
If you look at the ratings or rates you would think you would be staying in a high end hotel. Truth is this is an old time road side motel that became part of every american road trip. It is not modern or fancy in any way. It is old carpets and wood paneling. Everything works but everything could stand to be updated. The property is clean and you can walk to most main street shops and restaurants. It is on the far end of town, farthest from the water park so make sure its close enough to that if you want to walk. It worked for our short stay. Just make sure your expectations aren't too high considering the extremely high ratings.
This was our first time staying at Christy's Motel. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are a bit dated BUT the bathroom was sparkling clean (I'm also a bit picky about that when I stay in a motel) and the room smelled neutral (no weird smell). We stayed in a room with two double beds; the sheets were soft but the beds are harder than what we're used to). There's a fridge in the room which we used. We found the location to be a big PLUS; right across from the convenience store/gas station we were able to get snacks and coffee whenever we wanted. It was extremely quiet both nights we stayed there and we slept well. The owner is a real go-getter; always visible on the property checking on things and he is very personable! We swam in the pool (even though it was a chilly day) because we love to swim -- it was crystal clear and well taken care of. We would definitely stay here again!…
