We have stayed at the Water’s Edge Inn before. We usually travel off season when rates are lower but we wanted to see peak fall season. The place is clean, they were being careful due to Covid. I read other reviews, yes its pricey but good luck finding something that’s not this time of year in the ADK. We love the balcony and the view. Yes, its a bit outdated, unless you go to a Hilton etc. in the ADK that’s what your getting. If you are looking for modern and marble it’s going to be tough. Thank you Water’s Edge Inn.

We stayed 2 nights in very early October. We really didn’t know what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised. Outside of a too small bathroom it served our needs quite well. It’s located just on the edge of charming Old Forge but right across the street from Water Safari. That could be problematic IF the park had been open, traffic, noise etc, but it was closed in October so a big break there. Water’s Edge is faithful to it’s name as it’s right on the edge of the lake. It’s a beautiful setting! Unfortunately we were probably about 1 week late to see the gloriously rich fall colors of Adirondack State Park. Still, muted as they were it was gorgeous. The room is basic, but does come with a refrigerator, microwave and large flatscreen. The beds were adequate and we had a great view! Note well, there are no high end franchise hotels in Old Forge. They are all locally owned and some can be clean but out dated. Water’s Edge is not run down. While it’s obviously been used it’s very clean and their lounge over looking the water is very inviting and actually sumptuous. I spent over an hour reading there and looking out on the lake. Very nice. The staff was very nice too. Since Old Forge isn’t that big you can easily walk into the town to shop and enjoy the numerous restaurants. All in all we had a really relaxing time in Old Forge and were most pleased with Water’s Edge. We are already planning to return this coming summer and really taking advantage of the hiking and kayaking. Water’s Edge will be our cozy retreat at the end of a tiring day on the trails.

We arrived checked in and the room was seriously outdated and the beds lumpy. If you sat on them they made all sorts of bad noises so we knew it was a step up from camping on the ground. It was damp so we turned the heat to 68. The patio overlooked the parking lot so unless you were super skinny and didn’t value your knees -squeezing between the oversized chairs and the railing it was pointless. Also WHO wants to look at the front end of back end of cars? The blinds had to be shut making the room super dark. We got in from dinner after 9 and went out to walk around the parking lot which again had POOR LIGHTING. We woke up at 1am sweating and checked the thermostat it was set at 68 we moved it to 60 and at 2 decided to turn on the air —- hot and stuffy. the air conditioner smelled like it was burning and made loud noises so at 4 that got u plugged and we cracked the outside door leaving the chain on to try to cool the room off! 40 degrees outside. No one answered the front desk we got a message that no one was available— we got ZERO sleep and at 5am started packing. We went to the office at 8 and reported it to Chris who said she was sorry and asked if we were going to spend another night! NOPE!!! For $219 one should at least be able to expect a decent nights sleep! Breakfast COVID style was burned watered down coffee, Luke warm yogurt and a bit ripe banana—— you could also have a muffin but being gluten free that wasn’t an option for me. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE

Dear Heather, Thank you for taking the time to place a review on TripAdvisor. I regret that you did not enjoy your experience at our hotel. We strive to accommodate our guests in every way possible. We do have many beautiful lakeside rooms to choose from, with views of the lake and mountains. We’re sorry the temperature in the room was not working properly. We are eager to return to our traditional continental breakfast which features eggs or French toast, bacon or sausage, a variety of cereals and breads for toasting as well as muffins, fruit, and yogurt once the COVID guidelines and restrictions are lifted. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I would be happy to make your reservation personally and see to it that you enjoy the experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Kind regards, Chris H. General Manager

Should have known when they charged my credit card $216 three days before our arrival and said there were no refunds that the place wouldn’t be good - actually it was terrible! So hot we had to have the patio door open to the parking lot all night just t breathe- arched at least 80+ degrees, room was very dark, bathroom just large enough for tub with toilet RIGHT on top of it and door that closed on the knee when using toilet. Would never stay there again.

I had stayed at Waters Edge in the past, and knew it was one of the more expensive Hotels in Old Forge but mainly wanted a Jacuzzi. Was the last night of our covid honeymoon after leaving Lake Placid, rented a Jacuzzi suit. First impression of room was furniture was old and carpets needed help, but I can deal with that. View was beautiful. While filling Jacuzzi could it would not plug, ended up using an Advil bottle...furthermore, Jacuzzi button was pushed in, and wouldn't allow jets to run. I was advised at check in that no one would be at the front desk, but I could call, and night crew was available. At 11pm I didnt want to bother anyone and go through changing rooms etc. I waited until morning and nicely advised front desk in that Jacuzzi was broken for future guests, instantly received defensive response and was advised I should of called night crew. Long story short I am not impressed with Waters Edge whatsoever.
