The Sherman Inn in Ogdensburg, NY, has a very charming atmosphere, friendly service, and inviting historical feel. We flew into Ogdensburg airport and Sherman Inn was less than 10 minutes away.
We appreciate the location, which offers easy access to the St. Lawrence River and local attractions. The rooms are HUGE, cozy and well-maintained (the beds are far more comfortable than you can imagine).
The owners were very polite and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Overall, it’s a solid choice for travelers seeking a quaint, small-town experience.

I just stayed for the third time and everything was still absolutely wonderful!! The inn-keepers' attention to the details is very much appreciated. From the rich historical info, to the beautiful decor, quality of linens, and scrumptious breakfast...it's very apparent the Reagens take great pride in their work. Thank you, Jim and Donna, for a consistently wonderful experience. That level of regard, paired with Donna's banana pecan pancakes, will keep us returning to The Sherman Inn. There's no place like it.

The Sherman Inn is a remarkable, charming, inviting, warm and comfortable experience! We stayed in the Teddy Roosevelt Room which is loaded with interesting information about Teddy Roosevelt along with Adirondack , outdoorsy decor. It was also decorated for Christmas , complete with a tree!
The breakfast the Reagan's serve is also an incredible experience Pancakes with blueberry compote, local maple syrup , fresh berries and a tasty sausage patty. Endless coffee/tea and great company! we stay here whenever we're in the area

Such a wonderful experience at this bed and breakfast! The rooms are huge and the hosts think of and include everything; from the snacks in the shared kitchen space and honey in your room, to the plush bathrobes and such comfortable beds. They also have a library/lounge space, outdoor pool, and an amazing playroom/basketball gym for kids and adults that are young at heart! The hosts are super welcoming and very knowledgeable about the history in the Ogdensburg area. I was in the area for a wedding so I chose the Sherman Inn and am very happy with my decision!

The Sherman Inn is a fun place to stay if you like a comfortable, family-friendly and unique hotel experience. The rooms are very spacious, clean and have a presidential theme that is enriching. The beds are comfortable and beth nicely stocked. When is the last time you stayed in a hotel room of this price range and had a comfortable sofa/chair area to chat with friends and family? Room is more like a studio apartment! A delicious full breakfast is served in the living room or library which makes the cost of this lodging even a better deal! Jim and Donna are the perfect hosts and are ready to help as needed. So many interesting places to visit in the area - the Remington Museum, St Lawrence riverway, cross the bridge to Ottawa. Restaurants are great-recommend the Smuggler's Cafe by Hosmer's Marina. Great food and view! You won't be disappointed!

Great B&B. The location is within walking distance to everything in Ogdensburg although we were traveling in the winter and didn’t walk anywhere. Beautiful rooms and larger than most hotel suites as it is set in a old school. You had a large comfortable queen beds a sitting area and a place to relax in front of the TV. The owners are great always friendly with a knack for local history, they also were able to recommend places to get a meal. We unfortunately didn’t eat so I can’t rate the breakfast but the bacon smelled good. We will come again!

Such a wonderful and unique experience! Jim and Donna are wonderful! We arrived late due to bad weather and they accommodated a late check in. They even made time for a little tour of the converted elementary school and the rooms that are named after presidents that have visited Ogdensburg. We had a flight out of the airport (3 mins away) in the morning so Jim and Donna arranged to have breakfast prepared a little bit earlier for us. The home made breakfast and homemade muffins was delicious! Overall very spacious rooms, very quiet and clean and excellent for families. I would highly recommend and I look forward to our next stay!

The inn is a refurbished school located in the heart of an historical town on the shore of the Saint Lawrence River just a few miles from Canada. 5 Presidents visited the area and 5 suites are named after them, with the decor reflecting the relevant area and administration. Comfort, beauty, history and whimsy are joined by delicious food and warm hospitality. The proprietors, Jim and Donna Reagen, are gracious, knowledgeable and interesting hosts whose attention to detail is extraordinary. There’s even a huge playroom for the kids, in the school gym! We’ll be back.

We had a wonderful visit to the Ogdensburg area and our stay at the Sherman Inn was the icing on the cake. The former school building has been transformed into a comfortable, clean and unique lodging that is excellent in many ways. The huge 4 main rooms were former classrooms and have been impeccably decorated to the hilt in various themes. The hosts were friendly, informative and made you feel right at home. They also made a sumptuous breakfast that provided a great start to the day. I would definitely like to make a return visit and will recommend The Sherman Inn to all.

The Sherman Inn is a very unique Bed and Breakfast established in a former school building. The rooms are enormous…each having served as a classroom in a prior life. Modern bathrooms have been installed, but the remainder of the building remains true to its heritage. Antique furnishings make each room “one of a kind”, and there are a variety of bed options (one king, two queens...etc…) so you can choose what best suits your needs. The hosts, Jim and Donna Reagen, are welcoming and eager to please. Our breakfast was terrific; fresh fruit, home made waffles with strawberries and cream, bacon, coffee or tea, juice…a real feast! Some of the idiosyncrasies of an older building remain but were not a problem at all. I mention them only so that those who need everything to be brand spanking new and state of the art will know what to expect. As examples, we were warned that the hot water takes a while to reach the bathroom. It did, but there was lots of it and it was good and hot. As well, free standing air conditioners are being used and while ours did a great job of very quickly cooling the large room, it was a bit noisier than the central air conditioning we are used to having. Improvements to the property continue, including installation of a pool that was nearly complete at the time of our visit. That, together with a large playroom generously stocked with toys of all kinds, will make this a great place for families. Bottom line: we had a very comfortable stay in a quirky and delightful inn hosted by a very charming couple. Highly recommended.
