Wow, we had an amazing stay at the Sherman Inn! This inn is an old school that has been renovated into a 5 bedroom B&B. Each room is themed after a President, I was in the Roosevelt room. Beautiful views from the 6 windows. The room was enormous and contained a couch, table, chairs and a fridge. The beds were insanely comfy. Lots of hot water. The hosts were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The home made breakfast was a treat. I highly recommend and will definitely stay there again.

Property's Favorite Review
The Sherman Inn, a B&B in the wonderfully refurbished former Sherman Elementary School, easily rates an A+ or a 100 or any other top grade that springs to mind. The beds are luxurious and the breakfasts are to die for. The credit goes to Donna and James Reagen who bought the unique B&B two years ago and turned an already good place into something extra special. Donna is a wonderful cook with a real flair for interior decoration. Jim used to run the local newspaper, is an elected county legislator and a top aide to a New York state senator. He is also a historian. The two are wonderful conversationalists and more than willing to share their vast knowledge of the Ogdensburg/St. Lawrence County region and neighboring Canada. The rooms (really the old classrooms) are huge and spotless, as are the bathrooms. Each room is named after a U.S. president who visited Ogdensburg. Want to brush up on Teddy Roosevelt? Stay in his Adirondack-themed room. You'll find the it filled with TR memorabilia, including a mounted copy of a speech he gave here. The vast collection of books even includes one authored by Roosevelt and illustrated by his pal, artist Frederick Remington. The wonderful Remington Art museum is a short walk away. The rooms even have black (green) boards. Unfortunately, our room came without chalk. I guess we'll have to lower that grade to a 99!

Unusual inn in an old school building. Fun historical presidential theme. Huge quiet rooms. Nice breakfast. Close to the universities. Good for a relaxed weekend getaway. much nicef weekend than staying at one of the chain hotels in the area, by a long shot in my opinion. ……………………………………………………………………………….

Traveled for work and have the opportunity to stay at this unique location. The N is an old school that has been converted into a spacious eclectic and welcoming space. The owners greeted us with a warm welcome. The rooms are huge. The beds were very comfortable. There’s plenty of seating space and a nice working space. Donna provided us with a breakfast each morning, the place was decorated for the holidays. Donna provided us with several local eating establishments that we enjoyed. The area is quiet and welcoming. I would highly recommend this location. It is near the river and several other unique outdoor locations.

We've been going to Ogdensburg for 60 years as we have a summer camp there, but wanted to stay in a comfortable place while closing it for the season. I saw the Sherman Inn online, and the photos were striking. I was curious and read the details about the history and found that it was only $20 more than the generic 1980's decor motels around town. The booking process was simple and I spoke with one of the hosts directly-no foreign 800 number operator here. Upon arrival I was greeted by one of the owners and given a full tour along with an in-depth history lesson regarding the building and the presidents the rooms are named after. It's hard to describe the detail that has gone into the furnishings and decoration-it would take days to explore and appreciate everything that has been meticulously placed in every room. It still is very much an elementary school in may ways-you check in at the principal's office! The rooms are immense-bigger than some apartments and everything is immaculate. You'll feel like a VIP in the Presidential suite-because all of the rooms are just that! Breakfast was amazing, and meeting the other guests and sharing stories with them was priceless. If you stay anywhere else near Ogdensburg, you have made a mistake-you need to stay at the Sherman Inn. There is no better experience and no better value. Check it out!

Had a wonderful stay while visiting family. Was greeted by the owner and treated to a very interesting history of the home and reasons behind the names of the rooms. Stayed in us grant room that was so quiet that we had a best sleep in a while followed by a very hot shower and a delicious breakfast. Would highly recommend a stay there.
