Converted school house, brought us right back to our elementary school days of the 1950s. Could almost hear the kids clambering up the stairs and down the halls to their classrooms, chalk squeaking on broad blackboards. We stayed in the Roosevelt room, very large and camp-like, evocative of a lakeside or mountain cabin. Decorated with an eclectic assortment of furniture and decorations, well-suited to the room’s namesake and era. Comfortable beds. Very quiet. Helpful and informative hosts. Nice breakfast. Would have rated a 5, but bathroom was in need of better cleaning.
STOP AND STAY HERE! The Sherman Inn is without a doubt the most incredible stay I have ever had. My wife and I got stuck at the border and weren't able to cross. Jim and Donna welcomed us with open arms. Jim took us to get groceries our first night and Donna made us a wonderfully delicious breakfast(best French Toast I have ever had). The rooms are HUGE. Did I mention this place is an elementary school that has been converted into a BnB? It is so cool to visit and feel the nostalgia of walking through the school halls. This is an experience you dont want to miss. We are definitely coming back here to stay! Thanks Jim and Donna! <3
This is by far one of the best B and B we ever stayed at. Room are humongous, Building is an old school, so rooms are old classrooms. Impeccably clean. The place is a museum of antiques and stories. Jim and Donna take you, out of the box with pride in making sure you get treated as if you are an Head Of State. Jim will be more than happy to give you a tour with tons of info. Donna is equally super helpful and a great breakfast. The rooms are beyond what you would ever expect.
Where do we start....We are two Canadians wanting to get through the border but needed to wait for our PCR test to Canada. From the Ogdensburg airport the taxi driver takes us to this B&B. At first, we looked at it and said ok...once we went in and met the owners Jim & Donna they were so.... welcoming We felt automatically at ease. Once we discussed the price which was very reasonable we were taken to view our room. Holly Molly we were so impressed by the cleanliness, the history and the size of the rooms. Never experienced a big room like this in my life. We were both estatic..... the beds were so...elegant and comfortable. We were in an very old school which means our room is a whole classroom to ourselves. I am a picky traveler and I cannot complain about anything in this place. We were well treated from day one. On top of all the breakfast was amazing. The best of the best. Sincerely!! I Recommend this place 100% We will be back!!!!…
The Sherman Inn exceeded our expectations. Stayed for 2 nights. Jim and Donna were such excellent hosts. The rooms large and luxurious. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed. Loved the Keurig coffee machine available all day.
