Sherman Inn is a luxurious bed & breakfast that once served as one of the region's oldest elementary schools. The Inn's distinctive style, combined with its unique sense of North Country history, creates an unforgettable experience consistently exceeding expectations. With spacious guest suites, superb service, and an excellent breakfast, Sherman Inn is an ideal place to stay for any occasion. Discover a side of historic Ogdensburg, NY as you've never seen it before while enjoying a luxurious stay that you'll always remember. Sherman Inn's common areas include a 1) galley kitchen with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and microwave, 2) downstairs parlor for relaxation, featuring several sitting areas, dining table, and piano, and 3) first floor library including breakfast area, sitting area with TV, board games, eclectic selection of books featuring Ogdensburg, NY history, yearbooks, and some local family scrapbooks.
My wife and I were lucky enough to find this place. The Reagans were fantastic hosts. The room was huge and decorated as the room was named. We stayed in the Theodore Roosevelt room. The bed was clean and comfortable as was the room. Having James around to tell the history of Ogdensburg was wonderful. We now want to make Ogdensburg a destination next time. I even bought a book on the revolutionary War written by James. I can't say enough positive things. Great job. We will be back.

The Sherman Inn, a B&B in the wonderfully refurbished former Sherman Elementary School, easily rates an A+ or a 100 or any other top grade that springs to mind. The beds are luxurious and the breakfasts are to die for. The credit goes to Donna and James Reagen who bought the unique B&B two years ago and turned an already good place into something extra special. Donna is a wonderful cook with a real flair for interior decoration. Jim used to run the local newspaper, is an elected county legislator and a top aide to a New York state senator. He is also a historian. The two are wonderful conversationalists and more than willing to share their vast knowledge of the Ogdensburg/St. Lawrence County region and neighboring Canada. The rooms (really the old classrooms) are huge and spotless, as are the bathrooms. Each room is named after a U.S. president who visited Ogdensburg. Want to brush up on Teddy Roosevelt? Stay in his Adirondack-themed room. You'll find the it filled with TR memorabilia, including a mounted copy of a speech he gave here. The vast collection of books even includes one authored by Roosevelt and illustrated by his pal, artist Frederick Remington. The wonderful Remington Art museum is a short walk away. The rooms even have black (green) boards. Unfortunately, our room came without chalk. I guess we'll have to lower that grade to a 99!…

Jim and Donna Reagan were absolutely wonderful and very welcoming hosts upon check in! Such a lovely, welcoming and inviting environment where they ensured you felt right at home. We stayed in the James Monroe suite (my former 4th grade classroom) and it was so comfortable and felt right at home. Our stay was perfect in every sense. The history was extremely interesting and the breakfasts were wonderfully prepared and picture perfect. Thank you for making our stay memorable!

We had an amazing stay at the Sherman Inn. We needed a place to stay near the Ogdensburg Free Academy before our son's SAT and the location couldn't have been better! It was just up the street. We loved the decor and the spaciousness of our room. It was also incredibly quiet. Breakfast was outstanding and better than we could have imagined. This might be my favorite hotel stay of all time. Will definitely be back!

The inn is a refurbished school located in the heart of an historical town on the shore of the Saint Lawrence River just a few miles from Canada. 5 Presidents visited the area and 5 suites are named after them, with the decor reflecting the relevant area and administration. Comfort, beauty, history and whimsy are joined by delicious food and warm hospitality. The proprietors, Jim and Donna Reagen, are gracious, knowledgeable and interesting hosts whose attention to detail is extraordinary. There’s even a huge playroom for the kids, in the school gym! We’ll be back.

Our stay was excellent. To say the rooms were spacious would be a gross understatement; and the amenities, such as the marvelous breakfast and the full kitchen, were equally outstanding. For those travelling with small children, the gym fully stocked with toys and the pool, are ideal. And I don't think you could find more gracious and hospitable hosts than the Reagens.
