Well kept place, nice room with sea view, close to Fira center (10 min walk) and place to park car in the hotel or close by. Friendly staff, however, no privacy at all! Even when we had the “Do not disturb” sign in the door, the staff came inside to “clean”. Even after telling them that we didn’t want it, they had an excuse to go inside the room. If you enjoy privacy, don’t go there. For you to understand the level of control they put in the guests, the clean lady left the air conditioning on in my friends room, and when we came back from the beach in the afternoon the owner said that because he left it on (and he didn’t) the air conditioner was broken and because of this she took the remote control from the room. When he asked then to change the room because he would not be without air conditioning she said it was full (another lie). Since we are not stupid he immediately downloaded a remote control app in the cellphone and of course the air conditioning was working perfectly!! So she pretended to be mommy and give him a lesson taking the remote control. I’ve never seen anything closely similar in a hotel. That made our stay in Santorini not pleasant! Because of what happened, I don’t recommend!

The hostal didn’t accept credit card payments and didn’t inform on the website, saying if they did they wouldn’t receive bookings. I didn’t have enough cash and it ain’t easy to withdraw money in the islands, our European and American debit cards didn’t work. When informing them this the owner came and yelled in Greek in a very aggressive way. The translator just said in a threatening tone: “you better try again”. They even kept my passport hostage until I had the money and wouldn’t give it back. I paid with the very few cash I had at hand and left, didn’t even stay the night.

Positives! If on a budget then good place to stay. Great views overlooking buildings in front of hotel of the caldera bay. Clean rooms. Fridge in room. Pleasant owners but unless Nikos the son is there then the parents speak little or no english and my greek is limited. Tiny shower but hot water readily available. Negatives! Bit out of the way for Fira centre. The map supplied takes you via a charming donkey path which in daylight is fine but at night you will get lost returning to the hotel. Traffic in front of hotel is busy and loud. Very low beds in the room. No bars or tavernas nearby. Mini market 5 minutes away. Stock up with water or anything else you may need on your way to the hotel. If you have issues with mobility then this hotel is not for you. In fact Fira is not for you if you have mobility problems. I enjoyed my stay at Villa Stella but would probably not go back there. The place misses an opportunity, they should have a fridge stocked with water and other refreshments and an honesty box for payment however this is just a suggestion for them.

Bathroom is little. room is very nice and view from the balcon is very beautiful. breakfast isn't available so you must organize by yourself (pity). after two the didn't change so i had to ask and they answered they forgot :(! Fira center is about 10 munutes far away by feet so position is good Parking place isn't so easy because few places near. if not must park 10 minutes far by feet.

The family that owns Villa Stella are absolute sweethearts! Throughout our entire stay they made sure we were comfortable and well looked after. The rooms are basic but kept clean. Yes, there is traffic but once the doors to the outside are closed you don't hear much noise and the AC works perfectly. So grateful to have stayed here.
