The Kavalari, a small unique hotel originally a captain's house, the property retains its traditional island architectural style. Situated on the rim of the Caldera, 300m above the sea, the property has exterior stairways which wind down the cliff face to various flowered terraces overlooking the volcano. Rooms are built directly into the cliff with access to various flowered terraces where guests relax enjoying beautiful surroundings and spectacular sunsets.

Searching for the perfect sty in Santorini can be overwhelming. Look no further than Hotel Kavalari! We arrived in the nick of time for sunset on our first visit to Greece. The crowds even in September were 5-6 deep on the Main Street in Fira. But alas, our hotel, atop the Caldera boasts 4-5 terraces which we had to ourselves. A small bottle of wine in our room fridge added to our pleasure after our 20 hour journey. We could not have asked for better.
Our room was breezy and comfortable. Do not be intimidated by the complaints of stairs. They are wide & well laid out with safety rails. Take your time! It’s the Caldera. This is what keeps Greeks alive far beyond others.
The bed was a traditional platform euro mattress with clean fresh crisp sheets. And again- the view! Ahhhhmazing. Right out our door!
The complimentary breakfast was delightful. An egg, ham & cheese, croissants and other Greek breads with tasty toppings. The best yogurt and fresh fruit ever and pots of hot tea and coffee.
This location cannot be beat, smack dab in the middle of the Main Street just steps from every recommended restaurant, shop, gelato spot and nightly entertainment. But don’t fear the sound, we were not distracted one bit from the crowds above as we nestled in to a fine bing Hts sleep.
Demetrius and all of the staff were helpful beyond compare and arranged transportation from the airport and to the ferry port.
We will make this our future go to destination any time we return to Santorini

The Kavalari hotel has the advantage that when leaving the hotel you are in the city center on the commercial street with an incredible view of the bay, and on the terraces and balconies of the hotel you have absolute calm and you see very little of the other hotel guests. In the morning you have a breathtaking view of the bay during breakfast and in the evening you have a front row seat to see the sunset. The only downside is that the hotel is not recommended for people who don't like climbing stairs.

We had a wonderful two night stay at this hotel with an unbelievable view if the caldera. Rooms are simply but well furnished and spotless. We had a wonderful terrace to ourselves with breathtaking views. Breakfast (included) was delicious. The staff were knowledgeable and very helpful in arranging for tors and restaurant reservations. The hotel is central to almost everything you might want to do in Fira yet was surprisingly quiet. Great value for the price.

We were arriving very early morning to Santorini and I booked an extra night so we had a hotel room when we got there to rest and unwind after a long trip from America . We messaged the hotel in advance to be sure it would not be a problem. When I got to the hotel no one was there. We waited, and around 7.40 am hotel staff arrived, and let us know we had wait until 8 when front desk will open. We were there , they were there but still we had to wait. We booked and PAID long time ago for a “caldera view room“ and we got a bottom floor room without any balcony or no terrace, no window with view at all the the ocean, No even stepping out of the door to the comunal terrace filled with not very well treated plans. We went to front desk and the smiling, open the window and said “here is the view.” I just responded, “yes and it is not my room“ she was trying to save the situation and it felt like a joke. Then she told me she could not do anything, there was no supervisor on the property, and the only thing to do would be for me (not her) to send an email to the property. This is totally unacceptable and really bad customer service. After that, nothing else mattered. Breakfast was very good, but every day was exactly the same - last day we just had coffee and went out for breakfast. My recommendation, spend a little of more money, and stay in place where they really value as a customer and show they care about you . Situations like this can ruin your vacation.

you only pay for the view the hotel remains a very mediocre 2 star (shower, reception, general condition of the room)! the reception is disappointing. I was mistaken for one day in my reservation and even though the hotel had free rooms I had to pay for a second full night including the breakfast not consumed the day before. that said, stressed by the situation, no words of kindness, understanding or listening for a hotel which must welcome. simple money machine. for the price and the welcome go next door there is plenty on offer. they don't deserve your money

Hotel in a good location facing the caldera The rooms are dilapidated, the lighting is white you have the impression of entering a cold room, the bathroom not even 2 m2 and frighteningly sad. The entrance door to the room which does not even open fully. In short, a tourist trap. And to conclude, my friend and I made a mistake on the day of arrival and were forced to repay for a full room with breakfast. The receptionist did not have a gesture of compassion, and not even a commercial gesture for the breakfast that we had not eaten the day before. A real tourist trap Other hotels nearby are much more welcoming and more comfortable

Do not rent a room at Kavalari! Do not believe the photos of the rental sites. Expensive and dilapidated room, not at all accommodating staff, many and dangerous stairs, one makes one's own bed (sheets are laid at the foot of the bed), very ordinary Breakfast and no choice , in short the worst place where we stayed in our 3-week trip and during which we stayed in 8 different hotels. For the view, yes it is beautiful, but it is found in several places on the island. Several other options are available at $300 per night.

Can't beat the view from Hotel Kavalari! I enjoyed sketching on the landing outside my room-even ordered takeout grilled octopus and Greek salad so i could keep enjoying the view while i ate. Reception sells small wine bottles. Breakfast is a tray of Greek delicacies in generous amounts. The staff were lovely. I would definitely stay there again!

We stayed here for two nights. The pictures of the rooms don't do it justice. We had a twin with a window view of the ocean and whilst not a private terrace, there were plenty of terraces in the hotel that we could use to watch the sunset! The breakfast is fab and the staff super helpful, giving great recommendations for places to eat. The rooms did not have the best soundproofing so we could hear people coming in late at night but overall it was a wonderful stay. The location was particularly brilliant! Right in the hustle and bustle of the town.

So let’s start with what is not so good. The room was small, the light in the bathroom hardly gave any light, I had to switch the water heater on 15 min before wanting to have a shower, it was very noisy (possibly some kine of club next door) and there were a lot of stairs. I mean a lot. You get out of breath just getting out of the hotel in the morning. And most importantly, the wi-fi is a bit dodgy.
On the plus side, it’s right in the middle of Fira town, so very convenient. It was cheap. And the views are spectacular. Breakfast on the terrace was a good continental spread served to you at your table and all you have to do is eat and marvel at the view. Also a great location to take in the famous Santorini sunset.
The staff were all very friendly and polite, and very helpful when asking for suggestions.
So if I had to choose again, yes I would stay here. I mean, who needs lights in the bathroom anyway.

There is no reason why a child shouldn't be allowed.. it's like a normal hotel.. we were just 2 of us.. still if you have some query.. u can speak to the hotel once
I do not believe so. Our entire Greece trip including hotels, excursions, and all transfers through trips.me We paid up front so and none of our hotels put a hold our credit cards.
There are more places to choose from in the Fira area.
