These caves were excavated and inhabited in the late 18th century after the explosion of volcano in 1707.Cave house consisted from stable, winery, oven, cisterns, four cave rooms, small house in the upper part of the plot and then built the small tower. After the earthquake of 1956 the front parts were destroyed and ruined. At 2016 it was reconstructed.

What a charming apartment and location. We have 2 beds, 2.5 baths and our own private balcony and hot tub/pool! We are super close to the square and all amenities. The owner, Enrik, is super helpful and engaged. I could stay here for months. The cave style is also super inviting! Highly recommend!

Don't even think of booking this place , one feels trapped in a small closed room with no view, almost no facilities or staff to reach out to. For the five star prices they charged us for 3 nights , we felt absolutely cheated. Don't know why this place has been put in category of Hotel , it's a two room/ villa property in a shabby dingy back lane with big wall in front of the main gate , no view of the ocean , no airport transfers ,no breakfast , no room cleaning facilities for 2 days , only one complimentary bottle of water given for 3 people in 3 days, no support staff available for any guidance .

We loved the Aura Caves!! I had read the other reviews on Trip Advisor and wanted a place that was unique and with a helpful local person. Grigoris and Natalie were absolutely wonderful to us. Even before arriving Grigoris was helping arrange a wonderful sailing trip. We had a last might flight change and Grigoris helped us get another room right next door as he was full the night before. They made us feel right at home, and truly went above and beyond tracking down my daughters lost luggage. You really need a friend and Greece and Grigoris and Natalie. We slept so well in the caves the kids loved them, especially the LED lights. The caves were cool and dark, but we could sit outside at the little table downstairs or upstairs. The kids had so much fun in the pool. Once again Grigoris provided us with a google map of his favorite spots. Explained how we could take the boat between Red, White and Black beach. Honestly, we had such a wonderful time we didn’t want to leave. Be careful of the 24 hour Bakery near by, the food is great and very reasonably priced. The cable car is about a 7 minute walk was definitely fun the kids as well. Oh, and the Caves have two sets of doors, so I felt very safe letting the kids go up to the pool or even leaving them for short time as it was like a gated area. Love this place won’t stay anywhere else in Santorini!!

We had a great experience with Grigoris at Aura Caves. It’s very private and clean and the cave feeling is unique. Loved the view, it was walking distance to shops and restaurants and the staff was very kind. The accommodations for the baby could not be better. Would recommend this for a romantic getaway or a family with children and would definitely stay there again.

My two friends and I stayed at Aura Caves for our first ever trip to Santorini and we are so pleased we did. Grigoris and Natalie were incredible hosts, from arranging our airport pickup to meeting us on arrival with wine and sweet treats, to bringing us wonderful local foods for breakfast, we were truly spoiled. We realised very quickly that they gave good advise and it was worth listening to! They suggested some brilliant restaurants and great places to visit and helped arrange many of them too. The Caves themselves are a hidden gem. The pool was perfect and we would often have a morning or evening dip to perfectly bookend the days. The bed was comfortable and the shower was brilliant. We will definitely be back again one day and I am very excited already for whenever that may be. Thank you both so much for making our week so special. It was lovely to meet your family too. Katherine, Vicky and Ailie.

When I book my vacation stays, the things I care about the most are location and authentic experience, therefore Aura Caves was a perfect place for our family. It is conveniently located within a short walking distance from the bus station, restaurants, shops, and Fira town. The place itself is truly one of a kind. It is beautiful, built with love and remarkable attention to details. We loved our terrace with it's tranquil sunrise view and the Jacuzzi. And we got so much more that we bargained for thanks to the amazing hospitality of our hosts Grigoris and Natalie, who went above and beyond to make sure our stay is comfortable and carefree. Grigoris picked us up from the airport. When we arrived, our hosts offered us wine and pastries, plus detailed map and a lot of local advise. They provided us with the cell phone with the pre-programmed numbers that we might need during our stay (wow!). And there were other things that made us feel pampered, like calling our tour guides for us, dropping us off at the bus station, always being available. Staying at Aura Caves was a huge part of our Santorini experience, and I can't wait to stay there again!
