We booked the fanari villa to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived the staff were amazing and looked after our every need. The sunset view from our balcony was amazing and it was so nice to avoid the rush and crowds at the castle or streets. The views in the morning were breathtaking We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect place to stay in Oia and away from all the crowds There are steep stairs to reach the villa however this appeared to be the case at most of the hotels in Oia. I would recommend staying in Oia and making the most of the views early before everyone arrives from the other cities/towns

We stayed for three nights in a suite. It had two beautiful bathrooms (with wonderful shower), a large dining/living room and a separate double bedroom, as well a balcony overlooking the sea (with sunset view) and jacuzzi. The location was ideal, being just outside the central pedestrian route in possibly the most beautiful part of the island, Oia. Everything about our accommodation was exceptional. But the factor that made it perfect and, frankly, unforgettable was the service. Led by a brilliant, young and very talented front of house (Hara) every member of staff we encountered during our stay was warm, professional and brilliant. We felt at home from the moment we arrived and dreaded leaving. No request was too big or small. Forget any negative review about the noise and smell you might have read. If you are lucky enough to be able to stay here, grab the opportunity with open arms.

It was a welcome back years after our engagement and we weren't disappointed. It's recently been restructured but maintains a breathtaking view of the Caldera. It's usually full at sunset unless you had previously booked. Fanari is quite a big restaurant, devided on 3 "sun downing" decks. My wife had spaghetti with seafood and I opted for the lamb shank, watered with flutes of champagne. Both plates were delicious and well presented. The "fanari surprise" dessert summed up a candlelit dinner we'll remember for some time.

In planning this trip, I labored on whether to stay in Oia or Fira. Then once I chose Oia, I researched so many different accommodations online. I was SO happy we chose to stay at Fanari Villas. The service was incredible. A bellhop greeted us at the driveway and escorted us to the property while balancing all of our luggage. Normally, we decline this service as my teen and college kids are perfectly fine carrying their own things. But, take advantage of this since the pathway is cobblestoned and there are many stairs going down to the hotel. What an incredible entrance, by the way. We just marveled at the view as we approached our hotel. The receptionist at check-in personally escorted us to our room and showed us the room and how to work the air con. The Family Executive Suite was perfect for my family of 4. It had 2 bathrooms each with own shower & toilet (hallelujah when you are traveling with a family of 4!), comfy beds and efficient air con. Our personal dipping pool on our private terrace was fabulous after spending a day touring/shopping in the heat (there was a mention that the terrace whirlpools are not heated, but you don't need this heat in the summer....it's great to dip in and cool off during a hot day). Each room is located near the pool and the pool was also also refreshing to cool off in and to enjoy the FABULOUS view. The receptionist in the office gave wonderful advice on where to dine and things to do. We took her advice and enjoyed ourselves just as she said we would! Hotel restaurant was fabulous for dining and enjoying the incredible view of the sunset. Included breakfast was a great bonus. Let's talk about the sunset view. It's wonderful that life around Oia centers around sunset. Many people from other areas flock to Oia to enjoy the view that we had from simply stepping on to our terrace. It is absolutely spectacular! My kids also had great fun hiking down to the harbor at the bottom of the cliffs. I would highly recommend this quick hike if you are in decent shape. Wow.....there is a whole another world down in the harbor......it's like a charming seaside mini-town. The area of Oia was a great choice for us as opposed to Fira. Fira was a great day trip for shopping for deals and lunching but it seemed more crowded (cruise ships drop off their passengers here). Oia was a bit more relaxing even though there is shopping and dining here as well. Pick this hotel, you will NOT be disappointed!
