The views were spectacular from the private balcony and plunge pool. As an American, I was surprised at the high level of service and the quality of the included breakfast. Finally, this location is particularly good if you want to get up early and watch the sunrise over Oia - before the crowds arrive.
Santorini was a short stop on our visit to Greece. I wish we had stayed here more nights! Definitely felt like we saved the best for last. Shout out to the hotel manager John for going out of his way to make the hotel a magical experience for guests. His entire staff is wonderful as well! Some highlights: -Amazing guest experience, they really go out of their way to make requests happen -Check-in process and welcome drink -Located a short 3-4 minute walk to the "main" parts of Oia, but far enough that you get peace & quiet -Incredible Caldera views -Clean spacious rooms, many with personal plunge pools -Thoughtful complimentary guest amenities (sandals, hats, masks, slippers, hand sanitizer) -Delicious food, some of the best food we had on the trip (esp at lunch & dinner) One random and very minuscule area for improvement: Although many of the breakfast items were great, some of the items that were supposed to be "sweet" were strangely salty (crepes, pancakes). Egg and yogurt dishes were fantastic! As were the breads. Here were some of the gestures that distinguished the hotel and ensured we will be back: -This hotel is part of the SLH collection which includes some wonderful benefits due to their partnership with Hyatt. Greek tourism is picking up and the hotel had appeared full before we arrived so we weren't expecting anything other than the room we booked. Much to our surprise, we were upgraded to a room with a small plunge pool at check-in. It's SOOO nice when hotels do what they can to improve your experience without being asked to. After too many times of being snubbed at Marriotts where I've "earned" upgrades but don't get them despite plentiful availability, this was a refreshing surprise. -The hotel never pushed us to eat at their restaurant which I think speaks for the confidence they have in their own food. In fact, they gave thoughtful recommendations (that lined up with the places I had found during my own research), in addition to briefly and casually highlighting their own restaurant. At luxury hotels we have stayed at in the past we definitely have felt pressured to eat at the hotel which tends to be very pricey but not always worth the cost. At Canaves the cost of the food can be on the higher side but the quality/taste matches the cost. -The restaurant went out of their way to accommodate my food allergy and didn't bat an eye if we decided to split an entree. -Kind of weird one, but I noticed they used strong vinegar based cleaning supplies some some of the cleaning, and I appreciated the green (but effective) approach. -Our flight out of Santorini was quite late and unfortunately the hotel was fully booked so they weren't able to accommodate late check-out (which we knew was a possibility). However, the hotel arranged for us to be able to use the facilities to freshen up before we left to the airport. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture after a long day at the pool in the Santorini sun. All in all, we will be back! Definitely to this location, and maybe to check out one of their other 5 properties as well! Santorini is gorgeous and there is way more to do than I anticipated. Can't wait to return.…
The hotel is absolutely gorgeous with the most beautiful view I've seen. My husband and I were ending a long trip which included lengthy tours every single day. We truly enjoyed ourselves, but thought a vacation from the vacation may be in order. Canaves Oil Boutique was just the spot. Not only was our room amazing (and private-room #10) Every single staff member went out of their way to make our stay incredibly comfortable. Effy checked us in and from then on she was our go-to for everything. She's incredibly efficient and so smart. Julian impressed us with stacking all our heavy bags on his shoulders and making his way down the many steps to our room, and back up again! John, the manager gave us a map with all the places to see with our rental car and a GREAT restaurant owned by a very talented artist. I wish I could remember the name of it, I just know the food was outstanding. As was the restaurant in the hotel! We ate breakfast and dinner each day at the hotel and loved everything. Kostas was always working-(he must be a workaholic!) The kindest, efficient, polite young man--always at the ready. I look very forward to our next visit at Canaves Oil!!…
I truly enjoyed staying at this place. I traveled solo, but I guess the experience would be better for couples. Anyway the hotel was very comfortable and the staff went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. Food was delicious, including the free breakfast - I mean it. It was probably better than 90% of the restaurants.
This is a beautiful hotel! The location was steps away from the busy part of Oia so it was much quieter! Small and intimate with all the attention of a great staff. The rooms all have a beautiful view of the Caldera!. Breakfasts were delicious!I I would highly recommend it!
We had a fabulous time at this wonderful boutique hotel with high touch service. Great staff. Great food. And phenomenal views of the Caldera. We were in 15, which has a private patio with a heated plunge pool/jacuzzi, as well as an indoor jacuzzi. Very spacious. Truly inspiring. We almost never wanted to leave and loved returning to its peace, quiet and splendor.
Book it! Just do it! You will not be disappointed. I had 2 friends stay here and both recommended highly so I literally planned our trip around the availability of Canaves and I'm so glad we did! The property is small, but absloutely gorgeous. The staff really makes an effort to get to know you and anticipate your needs. We had a River Pool Suite and it was so nice to sit out in it at night. Breakfast is included and you could eat at the small restaurant or they will bring it to you to eat on your patio. We were celebrating our 29th anniversary and there was a bottle of wine chilled in our room when we arrived, along with 2 sun hats they give you. Another evening they sent over strawberries and chocolate with Champagne. We would definitely go back to Canaves!
We were upgraded to a honeymoon suite and it was incredible! The pool was heated and there was privacy from the rest of the hotel. Besides that, the staff were awesome and cleanliness was top notch! The cocktails (especially sangria) were amazing (we each had 6) and the dinner we had in our room was delicious! It was a once in a lifetime experience with a spectacular view of the Aegean ocean. Definitely recommend!
We had a wonder stay here. Rooms were beautiful with gorgeous views. Staff, including the manager were very attentive and accommodating. From the moment we checked in, with the manager escorting us to our room to checkout at 4 am with the gentleman at the desk helping us get off safely. We would definitely stay here again
Wow this place is incredible. The attention to detail and care for guest experience is some of the best we’ve experienced on our travels. The food was great — the daily poolside breakfast was the best we had on our weeks in Greece. We spent long sunny days at the pool with the attentive staff helpfully adjusting umbrellas and bringing around ice cold water and complimentary fruit and smoothies. The property is perfectly located right in town for evening strolls and visits to bars and shops. This place is not inexpensive, but it’s worth it. If you can, do splurge for the private larger plunge pool rooms. A wonderful experience all around.
