Dinner menu changed every day. Dinner consisted of an appetizer, main course and dessert for 25 USD. options included spaghetti bolognese, catch of the day, stir fried beef, curry chicken and much much more. It seems as though you can buy dinner a la carte too.
Lunch has a standard price of 10$ a plate. It is more than enough food and is delicious. Options included a Mediterranean bowl, chicken satay, enchiladas, and quesadillas. Many more options were available.

Yes you can swim. However the access to sea is not always easy, it depends on the tides. If you want to enjoy the best beach in pongwe it's just two minutes from the lodge, at pongwe hotel. It's a free access beach and it's beautiful. Yes there are algae ad in the whole East cost of zanzibar. You don't feel them when it's hight tide, and when it's low tide the colors look beautiful to me.
