We visited over Easter and will definitely be back. Relaxing, friendly beach area with loads of seating options, nice pool and giant jenga. Excellent customer service. The rooms are beautiful, each with a stunning sea view.

Is the beach 'swim-able"? Looking through the albums, I see a lot of pictures of the beach but no one is in the water. I also notice a lot of algae and sea weed. Everything looks beautiful. I just want to know will I be able to get into salt water while I am there.

Yes you can swim. However the access to sea is not always easy, it depends on the tides. If you want to enjoy the best beach in pongwe it's just two minutes from the lodge, at pongwe hotel. It's a free access beach and it's beautiful. Yes there are algae ad in the whole East cost of zanzibar. You don't feel them when it's hight tide, and when it's low tide the colors look beautiful to me.
