The hotel was booked for me by a travel agent. I have to say I would not choose it myself as it felt a little short of my expectations. The rooms were clean, spacious, the service friendly and helpful. The location was excellent - very quiet without much disturbance from traders. However the place was a bit run-down and not...

+ very friendly staff, nice beach, great bungalowa with nice balcony view, calm and quiet place, swimming pool ~ limited selection of food - really bad bread The beach is only accessable during low and intermediate tide, but not during high tide. So be careful when you walk to a different place. Make sure you'll be back in time otherwise...

Very friendly and intimate hotel with a tropical well kept garden. Almost Maroccan style. The originally german owner and her staff is very willing to give you everything you want. The information on activities is very good. Tip to the owners is to provide free water, coffee and tea (which is often the case at other hotels).

Stayed here for 6 nights in July 2016. The accommodation is simple but pleasant. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms too. Water needs to be preheated before you can run hot water. The decor of the bathrooms could be improved, but was good enough. The pool area and terrace over the waterfront is great. Lots of deck chairs and sun beds...

So, we arrive and the room is not prepared, no towels, no toilet paper, no soap, even no bulblights outside. So after a few hours, and after asking 3 times they solved it. Ok. Then we have lunch. Mediocre pasta, asked for penne pesto and they serve us tomato fusilli. Ok. Then the dinner. We asked for a seafood platter...

Our room: not prepared when we arrived (no towels,no soap, no bulbs...),but they cleaned everyday. Exchange rates: try to pay in schillings.if you pay in dollars, they change the rate 1dollar-2000tsh (the don't care about current exchange rate), so you will lose money. Food: avoid seafish To sum up, you pay more than what you get ,overprized, no trusty management....

The location of the hotel was on the East Coast of Zanzibar. I was greeted very warmly on arrival. I was travelling alone and before any admin stuff was finalised, I was shown to my room. I was offered a beer and had many wonderful exchanges with the staff who were all incredibly friendly. The hotel is situated on the...

The Location is Fantastic. You have low and high tide. During low tide the Beach just great. You can walk endless in the Sea and just enjoy. During high tide you have a classic beach. There are not many people around, so you can really enjoy your time there. The Rooms are really nice with a great view. The Staff...

I have to start out by saying than many hotels in Zanzibar seem to get good reviews because the location and beach is wonderful. Yes, the beach is wonderful in Queen of Sheba as well, but this is a review of the hotel, not the destination! There are way better options than Queen of Sheba, and I cannot recommend it...

Just an FYI: if you are traveling with someone of the opposite sex, you will need to be married if you want to stay at this hotel (it might be like this at all Zanzibar hotels). Queen of Sheba was a bit pricey for budget travelers, but had a classic Eastern Zanzi ocean view and a hammock. Good swimming down...

“I would recommend you to chose a place with a swimming pool. I know it can seem silly but the tight in Zanzibar is low most of the day (between 11am and 2/3pm) so if is always nice to have the possibility to refresh yourself during this period. Spend $10 or $20 more per night might change your entire holiday. In fact in Zanzibar you spend most of your time in the hotel/resort you have chosen so you better chose somewhere you won't be disappointed about. Don't look too much at the pictures but focus on the reviews ;-)”
