Beautifully decorated, relaxing and with kind and attentive staff. The themed dinners every night were a lot of fun and the food was great. The night with the live singers was our favourite! Would definitely recommend if in Pongwe or if you want to stay somewhere more private in Zanzibar.

We traveled a lot in our life and visited more than 60 countries; we had a lot of good and bad experiences in kind of this type of location. For sure Tikitam Boutique Hotel is in our top 5. A serene place with just eight villas/apartments, it is very quiet and nature "embraces this place". The people are fantastic, smiling and helpful, excellent food, the chef is high class, best homar/lobster I ever eat in this place. The architecture and interior design and decoration are "fit" to this part of the world with wood art objects and a lot of taste... The most spacious bathroom ever experienced on our trips, and housekeeping was excellent. Also, the SPA is high level. #liviurecomanda

ecologically and socially responsible and the architecture seamlessly fits into the natural surroundings. Tiki tam uses traditional African design blends with chic modernism. Jim the manager was extremely accommodating and a lovely woman running the spa which me & my daughter got to enjoy.

Zanzibar has many self acclaimed „luxury boutique resorts“ (this one was also quoted by Travel Vogue). Therefore I thought: Let’s give it a try… Much is made public on their website. But some important facts are missing: - non smoking: no-brainer within the rooms. But only after check-in you learn that smoking in the whole resort is prohibited (also on your private terrace or on beach loungers). There’s only ONE designated smoking spot in the whole resort. Should you reside in one of the more remote „garden villas“: enjoy the walk… - Wifi: theoretically available throughout the resort (they call it „broadband“). In reality it’s failing in several areas (e.g. sandy area between pool and the beach restaurant and also within the villas / rooms). TV in the rooms is also having difficulties - but who wants to watch TV on Zanzibar. - Breakfast: theoretically available from 7:30 (which becomes important as most tours / dive-operators will pick you up at 8:00) but don’t count on it. You might get a muffin at 7:35, but coffee will usually take you until 7:45. And let’s not start to estimate when you’d be able to get fried eggs etc. - Dinner: Buffet (which isn’t bad by default!). Here it’s partly self-service, the rest will be prepared fresh by the chefs. While it might sound good, in 6 out of 8 occasions it ended up in undercooked meat (which no one should ever eat in countries like this). Unfortunately, also the signs are incorrect in several cases (e.g. „black forrest cake“ turned out to be a plain and dry chocolate thing). Don’t get me wrong: I really liked the food! But it has avoidable downsides. - Lunch: Not included in any of the booking options, but I gladly paid for it on most days. It’s served in the beach restaurant and was always a perfect happening. Food was exquisite. - Service in general: It’s absolutely clear that not all staff members will be fluent in english (or any other foreign language - I’ve also tried french / italian / spanish). Unfortunately they’re not trained to respond accordingly: Instead of saying „I don’t understand“, they just say „Yes yes“ and then nothing happens. I’ve directly addressed this with the manager and it was solved immediately. Thumbs up from my side! Besides this: lovely service. Discrete but always available (exactly what I wanted). - Spa: I was really surprised that such a small resort has a dedicated Spa on site. 60 Min Facial treatment as well as 90 Min Massage have been perfect (even given the pricing being identical to comparable treatments in more expensive countries like Germany). To bring this into perspective: I’m traveling globally 150 days per year. And I know the „specifics“ per country (Asia, Africa etc.).

We had a most wonderful week here in January. Amazing service, fresh and gorgeous food, very friendly staff. The resort is spacious, and the Villa Masai we stayed in was just perfect. Very tastefully decorated, lots of space and a nice outside area. We made a few trips (cycling, snorkeling and StoneTown) and the staff was very helpful arranging things for us. Highly recommended and we hope to return someday!

This little remote boutique hotel was a lovely find. They only have 8 rooms/villas, giving it a lovely homely feel. Highlights: a) They accommodated my early check in b) Friendly and attentive staff c) My room (Masai villa) was HUGE, and so beautifully decorated. Really clean. d) amazing food - especially Swahili night. The chefs did a great job. They also provided a packed breakfast the morning I left early for safari. e) You get to meet some Masaai people who work in the hotel as security. They are lovely beautiful people. Lowlights: a) Snorkelling gear was mouldy, so I chose not to use it. Recommend bringing your own. b) Food can become a bit repetitive, so I wouldn’t stay longer than a week here. c) It is a very remote area, so if you plan to do a lot of trips/excursions I would recommend somewhere else. But if you just want to chill, it’s ideal.

Dear Moriam, thank you for staying at Tikitam Palms & we appreciate your feedback - lovely to hear what you liked very much & indeed as you noted the hygiene , cleanliness and food quality is our top priority to make it a 5 star guest experience . All our sports & snorkelling gear is spanking new & sanitised every day and our buffet is build on wide variety of all natural & local fresh ingredients, rich in spice & taste and different daily . I am happy you enjoyed Swahili night in particular -)-) On top our chef is always here to respond to any special / individual needs of our guest if requested. Tikitam Palms is in tranquil location between the beach & the tropical forest , thus only 5 minutes on taxi or 15 mins on the bicycle to near village if there is an interest plus a range of excursions available thru a prime local tour operator from visiting UNESCO heritage Stone Town to spice farm, from diving to interacting with dolphins and many more . Your outstanding 5-star stay with all the frills and atmospherics to make any couple thoroughly happy. And then more: amazing tasty and real healthy cuisine by a committed chef - do not miss breakfasts and dinners here for any reason. And more : the staff is warm and efficient and fully dedicated. And finally: the Manager is among the best I have come across in decades of travelling. We are forever grateful to him and his staff (Judith, Zeineb, Juma, and everyone else) for the experience we had and sincerely hope to be back one day.
