We spent 3 nights in Pyramid Hotel and we had a collection of troubles with our room (that was very small actually, no place for a closet). The AC worked and WiFi was slow. The flush of the toilet didn't work and there was no pressure to take a shower. We reported at least four times the problems during our... More

The atmosphere was comfortable and personal. I want to compliment the staff: the owner of the hotel really looked after us better than we could have expected. He managed to book us tickets to Tazara-train even when the staff were on a strike. He also went to buy me medicine when I managed to get a food poisoning (from a... More

I liked the Pyramid quite bit, staff was friendly and the beds were comfortable. Woman at the desk was very competent and I love afternoon tea on the rooftop. Reasonable rates. Stone Town can be confusing so a map, if one exists, would be helpful.

Cheap option to stay in stone town. The room was clean. No weird smells. Location close to the ferries but far from town centre. Hidden in the small streets of stone town and hard to find the first time. Unfortunately the wifi was not working during the whole stay. Breakfast ok and located on the nice rooftop terrace.

This place may have been great for some but it seemed like they just missed the mark for us. They didn't remember our airport pick up. The wifi was broken during our whole stay. The shower didn't work even when we asked it to be fixed, it wasn't- we bathed in the sink water. And we had them do our... More

Spot on location between Forodhani Sqaure, Stone town sites and the dala dalas to the other parts of the island. The staff are great, me and my fiance have stayed here many many times and will continue to head back when we visit again. Breakfast on the rooftop is lovely- the waiter who serves breakfast is the best! Staff are... More

I'll be honest and say that my personal experience was perhaps 'bad luck' and overall, this is a beautiful hotel and quite good value! Pros: - Location: walking distance to the tourist drab of the Stone Town, yet within a more authentic part of Stone Town; also very close to the port and night market - Staff: very friendly and... We were very comfortable in our third-floor air-conditioned room, and would have happily stayed longer than the one night our itinerary allowed for. The hotel is very centrally located, an easy five minute walk from the Forodhani Gardens/fort/centre of town (and yes, the streets get dark at night, so a torch isn't a bad idea!). The area is fascinating (though... More

The original stone house of zanzibar history. Very nice interior and warm welcome from the staff. It has all bath equipment and very clean beds filled with Woden tradition of zanzibar. Close to all tourist site. The staff offered 3 hours walking tour from reasonable price. Airport taxi ckst 10k only

Hidden in the alleys but very close to the ferry. It would be a good idea to have a torch on you after dark. With a bit of luck you are able to find the place yourself, just turn left after the big tree. Traditional decorations and the wooden carved bed reminds you of the stories from Thousand and One...
