This was my fourth time coming to Sediba. We were slightly worried that the ranger would have left us behind as we were 20 minutes late at the gate, but no he had waited and offered me a cold beer for the trip from the gate to the lodge.

One of the best things about Sediba is the attitude of the staff. They are hoping to make your stay the best...and they succeed. From the singing on arrival, to the knowledge of the rangers, to the house keeping staff who ensure the great lodges are always beautiful. Thank you.

It must be said that the food is well prepared and presented given how far they are from markets.... Nearest town 2 hours away. This is not fine dining territory. That said the steak was brilliant, the Kingklip great..tne schnitzel not so. The chef has to be commended for making the best of it. It cannot be easy.

We stayed in Lodge 5. Beautiful room. Great view. Only criticism is that the jacuzzi had been mended in a rather haphazard manner and was still cracked. Maybe it had happened only the previous week and was a necessity..but we were the only ones present, so why give us this lodge?

I would still highly recommend this place to everyone. You will leave with a smile on your face.

Thanks to all

Excellent service, beautiful rooms and great location. The game drives were very nice as well. Highly recommended.

One advise I have for management is to improve the wifi connection and to make sure it reaches the rooms

This was a very good 4* and not 5*.
The quality of the food was not consistent.
The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly.
The rooms were brilliant in size but needs revamping. The Blinds were broken, the Hottub was not cleaned and left on 24 hours which was too loud and took away the serenity of the location. We did switch it off on the 2nd night.
The deck was awesome to relax on but only during the day as there were too many insects to sit out and enjoy the sky.
The game drives were the best, the knowledge of Moyo our ranger and the array of game that they have at Welgevonden.
All in all, we had a good weekend.

We visited to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.
1. The trip is NOT 3.5hrs as stated on the website but closer to 5. Just about no COVID-19 protocols are maintained.
2. We arrived and were served lunch right away. The server managed to drop the spring rolls off the plate onto the table - no apology or offer to rectify; we ordered the "fresh tuna" salad which was out of a tin; the female host insisted it wasn't tinned and was quite arrogant also with no offer of an alternative.
3. At dinner, the fillet which was ordered medium rare / medium was well done. The creamed spinach looked like it had been sitting on the plates for hours, with a hard coat on it. When we asked them to rectify it, we were told by the male host that he was really 'tired' of us and was ready to drive us off his lodge himself. When explaining that we were celebrating and wanted a good experience, he told us he's not interested.
4. On the Saturday night, the female host was gossiping about us in Afrikaans when I walked past her. Who does that when their guests are paying top prices to stay?
5. Fake candles for dinner, very poor taste. Drinks prices are completely ridiculous. Wine that costs approx R40 a bottle wholesale is sold at R350. Overall, our sense was that they do as little as possible for as much as possible.

In closing: the accommodation is very comfortable (no 10), electricity is dodgy to operate, but the staff are pleasant although they can be trained better. Moyo, our ranger was fantastic. However, the food and the range of beverages are mediocre, very poor wifi connection with the worst hosts we've ever encountered on all our travels. He behaved similarly to another group of 12 who were there for birthday celebrations. How did it ever attain 5 star status???? Never again and I would gladly share my experience with anyone as they would be wasting their money.

Our stay was absolutely horrendous. It takes over 5hours to get there and not 3.5 like the website indicates. There was no COVID procedures in place. Only some staff with masks. According to the COVID rules for hotel and lodge industry, you are not allowed to offer Buffet meals. Not 1 sanitizer station or bottle in sight. The food was terrible. Tuna salad from a tin!!!!! (Not 5* at all”
After I and another Guest questioned a few things I was told that we must f&$&& off and he is calling the cruiser back that had a few of my friends on for a game drive, because he is throwing us out and we must start packing. Someone actually took a video of him while shouting “sit daai donnerse Kamera af. “ I have never been treated so badly by anyone. And this was suppose to be a fun time for my 40th birthday. The dressing room was terribly dirty with some sort of animal poo. I had to phone for face cloths, and I was told that they will see what they can do. R 114000 later. ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. If you are scared of heights or have difficulty in walking ( older people) you will struggle, however the staff was very good in taking my husband to his room in a golf cart. Note that there are no railings on the wooden walk ways. There is no reception . Only wifi. Can’t make calls. Very very sad.

We had a wonderful time at Sediba. The lodge itself is beautiful and very grand and luxurious. There are fireplaces in every room and in the main lobby areas which creates a lovely warm environment. The rooms (9 and 10) were wonderful, very comfortable and spacious. The beds, bedding, blankets, and towels were fabulous. The toiletries were lovely too! We spent as much time as possible in the hot tubs whilst watching an elephant roam below.

There is a decent gym room which has a good selection of equipment. The food all-round was excellent: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great drink selection too. Each day we dined in a different area of the lodge which was a lovely way to experience the whole lodge. On the final night the staff went the extra mile, and had a BBQ for us outside by the fires. Very special evening.

Our Ranger ‘Bonwell’ was absolutely fantastic. He went above and beyond to find us all the game we wanted to see and was extremely knowledgeable and answered every question we asked. They have the big 5, and we saw all of them! We stopped during the drives to enjoy the sunsets over drinks whilst watching the animals roam freely in front of our eyes. The land cruisers themselves are outstanding vehicles. Very comfortable, spacious and allow excellent viewing from all angles.

Our third visit as a family and we will be back as soon as possible. Top drawer quality as far as accommodation and meals are concerned and an intimacy on safaris that makes each one a different experience. Staff are simply brilliant and understand customer centricity as if they were the owners themselves.

Almost perfect. The accommodation suites around the Rock Lodge are wonderful - our suite was bigger than the average 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney. All amenities including a hot tub and visiting monkeys. Unfortunately friends at the Mountain Lodge were disappointed - the pool was half empty, the shared areas were not clean and the suites were disappointing compared to those around the Rock Lodge and not quite 'luxury'. However, the food was delicious and plentiful, the game drives morning and night were wonderful although we froze one evening as our guide forgot blankets. The evening drinks two of the 3 nights were average, just beer and chips but the last night was magnificent. Staff are wonderful, the guides were excellent, we saw the big 5 and more, including a cheetah mum and her 3 babies. Only downside was patchy wifi and the internal phone system not working meant we got stuck in our suite being under explicit instructions not to walk to the main lodge due to a roaming leopard in the neighbourhood - no way to contact the office for a buggy ride. Also the stunning doors to the suite got stuck and we couldn't get out in time for a game drive, fortunately they came to look for us. The pool area is lovely, the spa excellent and there's even a gym. Overall magnificent with just a few tweaks and maintenance required. Definitely recommend.

We stayed for 3 days at the Sediba Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only that it provides a lot of luxury, it also seems to be very well managed with all staff always on top of things. We had a small issue with a mosquito net which was perfectly resolved by the management. Welgevonden park is also very nice and diversified. As no private cars are allowed, it gives you a good experience with two game drives a day. We also had a very good guide from Sediba Lodge and enjoyed our game drives a lot.

This was our visit to the Welgevonden Reserve and we all had high expiations.... but overall the lodge and reserve didn't live up to our expiations.

The best thing was an abundance of Rhino and the scenery was amazing, but the reserve didn't really deliver on the game viewing front.

For the lodge.... there was a number of little things that all added up to a lower score than they perhaps deserve based on our stay. Just quickly, the bed was like a rock and very squeaky with any movement. The room overall was dated (even with what looks like recent updates), but clean and well presented.

The staff were friendly, but the lunch and dinner meals were average and the local wild life was a nuisance during breakfast - but the breakfast was good. There didn't seem to be enough variety in dining locations as all bar 1 meal was severed in the same place which got a bit boring after 3 days.

To avoid the 4 of us being put on a game viewer with 6 other people which would have been a bit cramped, we had to book a private vehicle. We did only ask for the private vehicle for 1 day, and were given the second day for free, which was great and thank you for that.

The guides lacked any real sort of interaction with guests and didn't provide any sort of detailed information about the reserve. We generally have a much better experience on game drives where the guide interacts better.

To some up, the whole experience has some downsides, and was average.
