Very nice rooms. Rates range by size of room. Be sure to place your order 1 hour earlier, beware of praying times for services are temporarily unavailable during prayer. No buffet, limited menu, enjoy a bowl of fruits and fresh juice

This was the most comfortable hotel I stayed in over 9 nights in Djibouti and Somaliland. Big comfortable beds, great towels, water pressure a bit low occasionally but this is a country dealing with drought. Definitely need ear plugs to sleep. Allow plenty of time in the the restaurant as meals are prepared individually. I’d get someone to look at the European/American breakfasts which could be improved. Great curries. I’d particularly like to mention Huda and her female colleague who were front of house on one of the nights we were there. Far and away the best spoken English and the friendliest welcome on entire our trip. She fixed my telly when maintenance wouldn’t come & even lent me her own phone charger. If I were conducting training in hospitality and tourism I’d get her to show the others how it’s done. And great to have women around in a city that can be daunting for single females.

I loved the Damal Hotel. It is really centrally located (as opposed to the Ambassador Hotel, where you'll need to get in a taxi to go anywhere), but it is very quiet as well. The staff are so kind and helpful. My room was a good size, with good wifi and air conditioning. And the restaurant serves fantastic food at reasonable prices. I have read some reviews that said that the service in the restaurant was very slow, but I never had slow service, and I ate there many times.

Despite an impressive menu with shrimp, lobster and halibut.. and the nice decor, the only meals available were the typical Somali rice and spaghetti meals that one can find in other Hargeisa restaurants … although the burger was OK. Despite a bad lunch experience I thought I’d give the hotel a try. I usually stay at Maansoor which I cannot fault other than the distance. To book however, none of the telephone numbers worked so emailed, completed the online booking form, sent a message via FB . No response! I probably will not be trying them again.

I had a great stay at Damal Hotel Hargeisa last weekend. The staff is kind, warm, capable, and professional; the cafe has excellent food and beverage offerings as well as views of the city; the wifi signal was strong and reliable; the room was clean and had regular housekeeping services; and the location is very central and convenient. The only challenge I encountered was not having warm water in the shower despite a technician coming to fix it. He fixed it after I reported it but I then encountered a problem again later that day. It is possible that this was due to user error on my part, however. Overall I had a very positive experience at this hotel and highly recommend it to other travelers to Hargeisa.

The 4 star rating is based on what else is available locally and the general standard of things in Somaliland. I stayed twice at the Damal, initially for 3 nights and later for another 2. The hotel is situated on the 3rd to 5th floors of a commercial building in downtown Hargeisa. The lift is key card operated for the 4th and 5th floors but there is also a big open staircase so it hardly seems worth them having installed the technology. My first room was on the side of the building with side road to the hotel section entrance. This side of the building is very noisy with dogs barking loudly all night. My second room on the other side was much quieter. Both rooms were on the small side with big comfortable beds filling most of the available space. Each also contained an armoire, desk and chair with no room for much else. The bathrooms were reasonably spacious but the water supply was a bit tricky requiring that a separate pair of taps on the wall in the bathroom be turned on to get water flowing and a switch outside the room be flicked to operate the hot water. Easy once you know how! Everything was clean and serviced each day with soap and toilet paper regularly replaced. It seemed that the sheets were also changed each day. The room had a/c of sorts and the white noise of the unit helped deaden the outside noise. There was a sitting area on each floor with sofas and a TV which was a good place to relax in comfort when the room became a bit claustrophobic. The wifi was good when it worked which unfortunately it did not some of the time. The system required a passcode obtained from the reception desk and for my devices needed reconnecting after each pause. The hotel restaurant served "international food" - pizza, burgers and the like but also some local dishes. The milk shakes and smoothies are recommended. It seemed to be a bit of a local social scene and could be difficult to get a table on busy nights, particularly Thursday, with groups or single customers, mostly men, hogging tables lingering over finished (non-alcoholic) drinks. My flight out was late in the day and I was very appreciative of the hotel allowing me to use the room right up until departure. Overall, the Damal is a good choice with the added advantage of being downtown within walking distance of the central market and other diversions.

While not up to global hotel standards, this is probably about as good as it gets in Somaliland. Internet, when working, was fast and reliable. Don't expect a hot, high-pressure shower or soft, comfortable sleep but it basically worked. English speaking staff were super helpful and friendly. The restaurant is the hidden gem here ... amazing. The Texas Chili Fries were simply off the charts. I ordered them at nearly every meal!!

Stayed elsewhere for one night but immediately decided to switch to this hotel. Don’t take me wrong : this hotel is also not the best in the world but it is the best that Hargeisa could offer. At least, most things work in this hotel. I stayed in a room without a window looking outside but windows that can be opened to the corridor! If you don’t want it, please specify during reservation. The location is the best the hotel offers. Central of the city. But some people may not like it because it might be too busy. Check-In lobby is not on the ground floor as the ground level is full of shops. Bathroom is small but it has hot water for shower. While they talked about the opening of an internationally managed hotel “soon”, I think the location of that would not be as convenient and there is a big question mark as to when the hotel will open. Overall, no need to look further but book this one in Hargeisa. Remember, there isn’t many decent choices.

The hotel is in an office building and lacks charm but makes up for this by being central, quiet and very well run. Rooms have good air conditioning, warm water; reasonable WIFI and a restaurant that provides super fast service at very reasonable prices. You can walk around Hargeisa safely from here. Reception is also very efficient, especially the lady. A well managed comfortable hotel
