We stayed two nights here with water view Plus points 1. Room was clean, well, bright with toiletries using natural products 2. The sunset view is stunning - good to sit at the jetty, lounge or from sea view room to enjoy 3. There’s plenty of options for activities - fathala, bird park; monkey, village visit, boat ride down the magrove, horse riding, swimming in the pool, peloton, table tennis or simply just relaxing 4. Staff are generally friendly, polite and attentive. 5. Thé breakfast was good - eggs, fruits, yoghurt, pancakes, cakes, breads, croissants, juices, teas and room service is available Points for consideration 1. Biggest bug bear was the food and drinks - quality doesn’t match the price and the boutique hotel standards. First night Dinner - entree - husband had aubergine. Was average. I had prawns in tomato it was average. we had fish soup but it was actually a seafood mix with squids, fish and prawns. It was too salty and the soup was unfortunately cold. Tagine with beef was good. Apple pie tasted like something bought from Auchan supermarket - mass produced, average taste and dumped on the plates to be served. The sparkling water was flat and out of gas which the staff admitted But we were still charged for that. They had very few wines available given the COVID but the left over wines were of poor quality. Lunch on second day we chose garden salad - tomatoes cucumber lettuce and some olives at 8500 and yassar fish at 10,000 cfa - we questioned why salad with mostly local ingredients little dressing and no cooking was almost same price as Yassar? Staff Answer - that’s our pricing here we charge like this. This signals the can’t be bothered to explain and arrogant attitude. Second night dinner - entree - orange carrot soup came lukewarm and too sweet: i ordered fish fried with batter with Mayo sauce and lemon. Fish was plain tasting - missing salt pepper and seasoning; the chicken dish (supposed to be lamb btw as what we were told) was over cooked - burnt and dry. I had Lemon sorbet with taste of being kept in the freezer for a long while and was more like heavy ice cream paired with overdose of sugar at the top , the eclair was hard as rock. We expected more for the price point and the lux boutique standard that’s advertised. 2. Restaurant service standards - The management needs to look at staff knowledge and training - the staff didn’t know what they were serving - a) the breakfast service lady was clearly inexperienced - she couldn’t explain what was inside the yoghurt mix but said she didn’t know. She placed our dishes without even asking us our choices eg I chose sunny side, and yoghurt and husband took omelette and fruit salad , but she just placed the dishes on us without asking which was 100% wrong for both days. She cleared the plates without checking if we were finished. After I finished my eggs she cleared the table and even returned the soiled utensils soaked with egg yolk back to me so I could use it for the chocolate pancake !! I reminded her to change as they were different dishes with different taste. she also forgets the requests within minutes - requests made to her which require 2nd reminders eg extra pair of utensils ; more water, eggs etc. This was strange considering there’s only 2 tables of guests at that time for breakfast. No smile, explanation or apology. Dinner order was worse - we were told it’s grilled fish and lamb but the actual dishes served were chicken and fried fish. While the place offers stunning views amid nice luxurious setting, the value of food, service standards and price point is not worth the while. Better off going somewhere else and better value for money with better service attitude.

I really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and the pool and nature around the hotel are just gorgeous. We had the chance to stay there for Christmas eve and it was such a good dinner and thank you for the little present! The food was delicious too. The only negative would probably be the wifi as it doesn’t work that well. I really enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back!

Les Paletuviers offer a number of (not cheap) day and 1/2 day excursions (nature, ecological, cultural, etc), we decided on one of the day ornithological safaris aimed at bird watching. IT WAS AWFUL. We asked for an English speaking guide and the tour leaflet described (and I quote verbatim): “specialised guide for a day of bird science”. Reality: English was poor, he stated upfront that “ I know very little about birds”, had no reference book, no binoculars (no, really), etc, etc. It was us who suggested we stop when we came across a wet pool with some agriculture as it would be good for birds. The trip started at 08:30 and returned at 15:15 ..... of that 6.25 hours we stopped and walked (say) 45 mins had a 30 mins picnic the rest was spent just bumping up and down in jeep through scrub with a person who knew nothing about the subject. Complete waste of money. AVOID.

We loved our stay in Les Paletuviers, our favorite destination in our Senegal tour. The hotel grounds are in a beautiful setting on top of a rise looking over the delta. They organize a variety of tours. The short one we took, to the nearby shell and bird islands, was a highlight. But lounging by the pool and enjoying the view is fine too. I think this area is less visited than Saint Louis or Saly, but we liked this area better than either. Highly recommended.

This hotel is an out-of-the-way gem! It is in an idyllic setting-you must catch the sunsets on the delta from the end of the dock. We took an evening boat ride (extra cost) on the resort’s boat to Shell and Bird Islands, which is a must do. The restaurant offers all three meals and is the only place to eat at the resort unless you want to get a hamburger or croquet monsieur at the bar. Each night (unless there is a barbecue buffet) there are two appetizer options (one always vegetarian); four main course options (one always vegetarian); and two dessert options. The food is not gourmet but perfectly fine. They make fresh fruit juices at the bar. One night they had the local youth drum and dance troupe perform, which was amazing! The staff are pleasant and hard working and always cleaning. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of baobob trees. There is not really a beach but there is a large pool with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. I found it hard to find fault at this resort as it truly is a magical place. I gave it four stars only because it is not at the level of the top hotels of the world but for the area it is definitely a five star hotel and a place to which I would return.
