My girlfriend and I stayed for 9 days. We had a great time and can honestly say that our stay there was unlike any holiday or travelling either of us have done! Where else would you get the personal touch that Simon provides?! As an introduction to Africa it was perfect. Simon can organise trips and he took us on...

I visited Simon and Khady at their Little Boabab guesthouse and found it a beautiful place to stay at. It is a very well kept, eco friendly complex amidst beautiful gardens and the accommodation is comfortable and spotless. Simon is continuously working to find new ways of producing sustainable and renewable sources of energy to make it an eco friendly...

Totally recommend this. The compound is wonderful, the huts are great (and great value), Khady and Simon are wonderful hosts, Khady makes fantastic food, from local fresh ingredients. Plus they attract very interesting guests and visitors both local and foreign. The only problem can be managing to leave their place - but of course the village of Abene itself is...

Instantly slowed my pulse and minutes melted into hours. Simon and Khadi have built some fantastic bungalows in their compound and rather than feeling like you are a paying guest you end up feeling like you are part of the place. Can not recommend highly enough.

Set on a beautiful plot of land a few minutes walk from the beach, the Little Baobab offers well appointed -- and more than comfortable -- traditional bungalows, a restaurant and bar serving delicious food and ice-cold gazelles, and a full on botanical garden (the grounds are filled with edible and medicinal plants and plenty of fruit trees). But this...

I was part of a group of four backpackers who ended up in Abene by accident, a conversation on a boat resulted in an impulsive diversion here and I couldn't be more grateful to have ended up in the Little Baobab. We chose this hostel as it was recommended as a quality low cost option in the Bradt guide book....

Ambiance: I had two different experiences over the three or four days I was there. For the first half of my stay, it was just me and the Senegalese family (Simon was traveling). I played with the children and ate family style with the wife, two children and extended family. It has a bit of a homestay feel. Unfortunately, I...

Thanks for such a lovely and comprehensive review Alera and I'm happy you enjoyed your stay. You bring up a very interesting point and one which I have debated - in the early days, guests very much joined in and ate communally with the family. I'd always give people the choice but as we developed I realised there were some...

The other reviewers have already pretty much said it all - Chez Khady and Simon is a fantastic experience. It's more than just a place to stay - it's a starting point for immersing yourself in the culture of the Casamance. We joined Simon on a six-day trek through local villages, staying in a villager's home in one village, dropping...

Research into my trip to West Africa soon showed that Simon would be a great source of knowledge and experience in this area, and I easily made flexible arrangements to stay Chez Simon and Khady at The Little Baobab. Arrival by bicycle in Abene soon showed that everyone knew the family and willingly guided me to the leafy compound in...

We had a fantastic two weeks at the Little Baobab where Simon, Khady, Gulliver and Alfie and the rest of their staff proved to be great company and a lot of fun to be with. Having travelled in many African countries, this was one of the best, if not, the best place that we have ever stayed at. Thank you...

“We loved the little round house.”
DanLisa323, Mar 15, 2015 | Read review
“I tried the Round House- fantastic comfy bed, big mosquito net, ample space, shower room with good water pressure and shower stand, western style toilet, lights on the terrace and in the hut/bathroom available all the time. Power sockets always available to use on request (invertor just needs switching on) I also camped, a steal at 2000CFA, I chose a lovely spot next to the fire circle but there's plenty of nice shady spots to choose from and a mattress was kindly provided free of charge. A friend of mine took the hammock in the raised birdwatching treehouse and loved it! There's a proper outdoor shower and drop toilet. A bit cold after sunset in the harmattan but buckets of stove heated hot water are always possible.”
