I visited Taita Hills in May 2021 and had a very relaxing and pleasant experience, The sanctuary is fairly extensive with lots of opportunities to see wild animals, We were self drive and had a great time roaming the park looking for various animals, and once you are done in the the game drives you can take a dip in the pool. The hospitality was excellent with very friendly stand and the food selection was quite nice with mains, fruits and deserts and we ate to our fill, the resort has well furnished and appointed rooms, though the bathrooms may need to be updated. All in all a very good option for an adventure away from the city.
Travelling as a group of 5 adults and 4 kids to Mombasa , we chose to break our journey and refresh at the Taita Hills Resort for one night on 7 Jan and liked it well enough to spend an additional 2 nights (unplanned, mind you) on the return journey. Solidly built, old school hotel with an arresting facade, it is deceptively big. Within walking distance off the Taveta road, it blends in perfectly with the surroudings, well camouflaged by the vines and trees. The rooms are sufficient in size and adequately accommodated the travelling party. No TV in the rooms, but why need one when you have an excellent view of the expansive Taita countryside, plains here and hills galore there. The staff were polite and friendly, and catered to our fairly simple needs with professionalism. The food was of good quality, served buffet style with a decent variety of starters, mains and dessert. The control on Covid-19 regulations was admirable, with the staff doing the serving honours and wearing of masks mandatory around the serving area. My foray to the park yielded a few sightings of Elephant, Buffalo, Monkey and the ubiquitous gazelle, and a well hidden pair of Cheetah. No lion this time round though. The park is well signposted with markers at every other point so one can self navigate pretty easily. The hotel has a decent sized pool that was the source of untold joy for the kids... they literally spent a whole day frolicking there! All in all, a pleasant surprise and experience and we will definitely return for another stay. Big up to all staff at the resort for their hospitality!…
It took them 3 days to give me a reply on an extra night of stay. Looks like they didn't want my money!! And they were not even apologetic about it. Similarly bad experience with restaurant staff and chef. Looks like once a gem of a space is not the same anymore. They really need to work on their customer service and customer care if they want to turn this around. The bathrooms also need a revamp. I was in an executive suite and the bathroom was smaller than an average room bathroom, and very outdated. No TVs in any rooms, just FYI
Ideal for rest and relaxation. Staff are friendly and they go the extra mile to make guests comfortable. The food is great and overall the place is very child friendly. There are several activities to keep everyone busy and they have indoor games in case it rains. Definitely value for money.
My experience was great during my stay at the facility.Exemplary hospitality, with great ambient environment, friendly staff who welcomed me with my team.Food variety was well varied buffet meals were therefore amazing.Rooms services were great and the best have ever experienced and finally trip round the sunctuary ending at Saltlick hotel was breathtaking.
