As some of the negative reviews attest, this is not a place for the kind of people who usually spend their vacations in all-inclusive resorts or cruise ships, and all the better for it! This is a place for the more culturally aware people who come to this remote corner of a remote island in search of something that you...

I should give it an excellent (5/5) rating, except the single room is just on the terrace next to the kitchen, and so does not provide the 'tranquilidade' i hoped. Otherwise the room is large and nice, the wifi works surprisingly fast, the meals are good (well, i should also prefer breakfast from 7 am) and the location is of...

We were one week in Mar Tranquilidade and it was fantastic! The village, the people, the sundowner in front of the sea, the food, the atmosphere, the bungalows, the staff, everything was just so good! It was amazing to have a good lunch for less than 3 € and a wonderful buffet for less than 10 € and all of...

Mar Tranquilidade is hard to review objectively because it is one of those rare places that captivates you on a deeper level than other high quality hotels. It has a refined natural beauty and communal spirit that takes years of dedication, love and vision to build and when you meet the owners its clear where all this creative positive energy...

With TAP Portugal flying to Sao Vicente / Mindelo (VXE) and the road getting better and better the journey to Tarrafal de Monte Trigo is not as hard as it used to be. The place still remains remote and laid-back. The fishermen bring in their daily catch and the kitchen of Mar Tranquilidade composes a big and very tasty buffet...

That’s what we have experienced in Mar Tranquilidade. We stayed here for 9 nights and we loved every minute of it. Frank and Susi gave us a warm welcome and genuine attention and so did David and Rafael when they were away. The rooms are clean and Mar Tranquilidade is beautiful build up with attention for every detail: the paintings,...

The small and quiet village of Tarrafal is one of the best places on the island to just sit back and relax. Mar Tranquilidade B&B is situated right at the beginning of the road heading into the village. In front there is a large terrace where you can chill. The guy running the B&B (owners were on a long vacation)...

A totally different place from wherever I have ever been before, a very well integrated architecture on the waterfront. One can hardly notice the hotel due to the trees and plants. Very environmentally friendly, in some details too much, very difficult to have a decent shower: poor water flow. Average breakfast and a very friendly and affordable Sopa at noon....

Beautiful "wild" bed and breakfast with every basic comfort. I spent a week there with my girlfriend. It is full of very nice treks in the area and there is a very very beautiful beach 5 min walking distance from Mar Tranquilidade. David the manager is extremely kind and helpful. The girls doing the kitchen and cleaning work are also...

What a brilliant place! The Bungalow are beautiful and large, the staff always helpful and the grounds very pretty. The food is as delicious as it is healthy, a lot of fish but always enough options for vegetarians. Since Mai 2015 they have 24/7 electricity and free WiFi as well! Bring some books along the way, there are a couple...
