Our last two nights on Santo Antao were here and we had a great time. We had a wonderfully elegant room looking out over the valley and to the sea in the distance. Jose pointed us to a beautiful walk and in the evening there was a fantastic dinner, the best we have had in Cabo Verde. This house has a truly private feel and we were sorry to leave. We would love to come back again!
A great guest house, in every way. The location is magical, almost as far up the Paúl valley as you can go, with a stunning view back down that valley to the sea. José and Belén were very helpful hosts, with suggestions for walks, and waymarked routes via maps.me. The room was very comfortable (great bed), and the shared balconies and verandah were great for sitting, admiring the view, and sipping a cold beer after a walk. The staff were so pleasant and helpful, and the meals were of a really high standard - at first glance they might appear expensive, but were actually good value for money, with great food, and lots of it. I would love to go back!
This hotel was simply wonderful. We stayed in the studio, which has a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains to wake up to. They thought of everything, including a heater to keep us cozy when the sun went down. The shower was great, the bed was very comfortable, and the place was immaculate. We had breakfast and dinner every day and the food was AMAZING. I’m vegetarian and they accommodated with really great food - so much that I was unable to finish it. The staff was also really great, recommending hikes in the area and being around to help with any questions. I really can’t say enough about the hotel. Not a single complaint - just perfect!
My friend and I stayed here for two nights. They arranged for a taxi to meet us at the Porto Novo landing and take us straight to the hotel- cost 10 euros. The ride was a bit more than an hour and provided views of the dramatic coastline. At the hotel we were greeted warmly by the hotel manager, his wife, and their wonderful dog Luna. Luna was one of two dogs they had adopted from a resuce in Mindelo. After offering us juice or coffee, the manager (I am embarrassed I cannot remember his name) asked what we were looking to see during our time and suggested a two hour hike for that day and a longer five hour hike for the next day. He also asked about our dietary preferences and whether we would be eating dinner with then each night. (Breakfast is included, while dinner is 13 euros pkus extra for wine or dessert). We enjoyed both of our hikes along stone trails that connect villages and farm houses in the valley and the ridges above. Luna joined us for our shorter hike and he behaved himself admirably. Our meals were ample, good vegetarian options were prepared for us, and the wine was great. The rooms are clean and well designed with high quality construciton. Overall, I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for a peaceful retreat for hiking. The manager and his wife were both hospitable, and extremely helpful coordinating logistics for our arrival and departure. The meals were relatively expensive but were lovingly and well prepared. My one suggestion, would be for the hotel to consider shared seating for dinner or a happy hour before. We all ate at 7 and many of the guests seemed interesting but because we were seated seperately, we didn't have much opportunity to meet eachother.…
A place in the heart of the mountains with an amazing view, clean and peaceful. Food is also great and the owners are warm and very helpfull and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and also the beds, showe with hot water.Highly recommended!
