I booked the hotel just based on pictures in the catalogue of the travel agency we went with and I read all the reviews afterwards and I got scared - mosquitoes, digestive problems... Nothing of that kind happened during our stay. We were a group of seven (three adults and four kids) and we cannot say nothing but praise. The food was delicious - different every day, wide choice, lots of fruits and vegetables. The only thing we might suggest for improvement is meat - it was a bit tough and dry sometimes. But it was nothing what could have any kind of negative impact on our holiday - we always had another great alternative. The accomodation - cleaned every day, towels changed on request, we had everything we needed. The resort - large, many options for entertainment for our children (ages between 3 - 8) The staff - always friendly and always helpful. Whatever we needed we were provided with. When we needed late check-out (our youngest needed the afternoon nap) and despite our rooms were already reserved for other guests, we were given another room within minutes of asking. The drivers of local buggies we happy to give our children a sightseeing ride through the resort. The Spices staff - no words here. I will miss them. Eda, our son, says hi to all of you! And sorry for the broken plates when the children hurried for their daily dose of watermelon. Loved you all and cannot wait to see you again next year! The pools - always clean, always place for us and always the best drinks ever! The beach - large, wonderful and the kids did not need the "small waves", the big ones were much more fun. Amazing experience, great service with lovely staffs, spacious rooms especially their villas and wonderful packages. We were introduced to the VIP package and had a great time, we were spoiled for choice as the package gives you access to all the other Melia resorts. The 30min free massage that comes with the package is the relaxing moment we didn’t know we needed. It was so relaxing. I would recommend this package for everyone who would visit the resort. The VIP team are wonderful. The management and staffs are doing an amazing job. Thumbs up to the team.

This is our 4th 14 day visit in 4 years. We came at the lowest occupancy period of the year and were disappointed at the slow service for a la carte dining, especially how long the service took for breakfast at The Level area. Whilst the staff were very friendly and try to be helpful, the system seems to constrain them. Examples are: running out of certain food or drink items. Also the menus don’t appear to have changed in 5 years. The website also shows there being 4 a-la-carte restaurants available on Dunas but only 2 were open. Also the better standard buffet, Mosaico, was closed, only Spices buffet was open. The food standards were variable. We were very well looked after around the Level pool by Solenge, Maria, Leonardo and Keven, who worked hard to attend to our every need. The room was good and we were quickly moved from our original one to one with sunshine in the early morning without any fuss. The standard of room cleaning was fine but we never managed to get an electrical adapter to plug the fridge and kettle in the socket at the same time. We asked several times to no joy. This meant we kept forgetting to plug the fridge back in after making a cup of tea for breakfast, with it defrosting all the time. Overall, the resort is beginning to look tired, with several items still needing simple repairs for several years. Hopefully, increasing occupancy will generate the funds to fix the missing tiles in the pools, broken fences, uneven paths and broken lights. We really like the resort, hence why we’ve returned 4 times, but it’s lost some of its appeal. We really hope it can regain its previous high standard.…

I’m sat here at the Brava pool right now, just 3 hours before it’s time to leave and the experience we have had had made this the best holiday we have ever had as a family. The children (10 and 6) do not want to leave, the old man (83) does not want to leave and neither do my wife and I. We agreed a week into the holiday that Sal 2024 is a go and we ARE returning to the Melia Dunas. The staff are flawless, not a bad word can be said about any of them. Efficient, kind, friendly and always interacted with my children. There are LOADS of people I need to mention, firstly a massive shout out to Deisilene (my youngests ‘girlfriend’) who interacted and remembered my sons name since day 1, Ivan who taught my 6yr old to play Wuri and played with him for over an hour. Abdual and Willemyn who took so much time to make a fuss. More shoutouts to: Leonildo Elton Sara Crasimerio Marco Lucy Nickson and so many others. The food has been varied and plentiful, many different dishes and themes throughout the two weeks and plenty of choice for even the pickiest of eaters. Rooms are spacious and cleaned to the highest standard each day, we stayed in 1007/1008 on the Melia side overlooking the pool. Fresh towels every day, fresh sheets, plenty of water to combat any dehydration. No gastronomic problems from our party or 5. Hygiene is top draw with loads of alcohol spray dotted around. The shuttle bus was on time every morning to take us into Santa Maria. Nothing was too much for the FOH staff. I asked for a hand with the luggage this morning, I was told 5 minutes. 5 minutes later, Marco was outside our apartment waiting for us. The pool is cool, but not Baltic and is just right to cool off in the Sal sun. I can’t speak highly of the whole set up, from the animation team, to the night entertainment. Seriously, there are a few who mark this place down, but it’s unwarranted in my opinion. The whole experience has been flawless. See you next year Melia Dunas.…

We were here with an 8-month-old baby and I must say that I probably did not expect such a warm welcome and such helpful staff. For example - several times I asked for food to be delivered to the room and mr. Gildo (the manager of the Spicy restaurant) and all his crew (Keven, Gizel, Claudia, Dilza, and many many others) always met us very willingly and with a smile. Or when I needed something I just ask guys at reception and they always helped me. The restaurant always had a very varied menu, which changed every day. So one could enjoy different delicacies every time and really enjoy every meal from breakfast to dinner. We really felt like royalty every time here - absolutely exceptional! The hotel rooms are beautiful, clean and very spacious, and the hotel staff is just as amazing as the restaurant staff. There are countless pools, wading pools and other activities for children, bars and beautiful corners. The perfection of this place is underlined by the beach adjacent to the hotel... The clear, turquoise water together with the white sand only underlines the feeling of being in paradise. We spent a week at the beginning of May. We paid for the LEVEL upgrade ahead and we recommend it. What we liked: - The bed linens and towels were exchanged every day (without the need to drop towels on the floor) - 3 times we received fruits, hams and cheese to our room. 2 times we were given a prosecco bottle. - Nice waves to see and calm laguna to swim in. - Great LEVEL service at the LEVEL pool. Proactively serving drinks and occasionally some snacks. - Wifi access in the room & at the pool. Never had any issues. Its not super fast but comfortable for regular browsing. We were able to stream Netflix without problems. - The staff were nice and helpful yet they were not disturbing. - We received 3 reservations to á-la-carte restaurants for first 3 days (with specific times). This was great as after the few days you get to do more exploring. - Best sea food in the buffet I experienced so far (not every day, but it was comparable to some sea food places we've been in other countries. What could be better: - The bed was smaller than we expected (ex. 140-150cm wide?). There was no other room with a bigger bed available. All of the rooms have the same size. - The information about the benefits of LEVEL is not clear. During check-in they tell you names of different restaurants in the area that you have access to. But its too much information and not really helpful. You get access to google drive with different PDFs, but the information is incomplete. Some of these things we found out later on/had to ask specifically: You can ask to get reservation to any restaurant even in the close hotels (but not TUI Blue - which is right next to Dunas). You can ask for a bottle of wine from the LEVEL wine-menu (and its free). Generally all of the PDFs include prices (even the ones labeled for LEVEL), yet it is free for LEVEL guests. Just a not for May travelers: - The hotel had around 300/2000 guests. Only 1 a-la-carte restaurant was open at a given day. We enjoyed the not-so crowded place, but just to be aware. - It is quite windy in this season. I personally enjoy it as it is more enjoyable be on the direct sun - but for my wife, it was too cold sometimes. To sum up - This was the best all inclusive stay we experienced so far. …

Just returned from a week here. There were plenty of pros to this visit. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Especially those working around the Level pool area. There were 5 restaurants advertised at the hotel but only 2 were open. The others remained shut, but we were able to make use of the neighbouring hotels amenities which we did. The resort was very quiet as it was still before the peak summer season. So it made for a very pleasant and relaxing stay the entire week. We booked a premium room in the adult exclusive area. While this booking came with the perks of exclusive adult only pool areas, exclusive all inclusive items on the bar menu. The room itself wasn’t premium at all, it was very basic in aesthetic and the drainage in the shower was not working. We were left standing in dirty water coming from the drain itself. We didn’t spend much time in the room, but the furnishings were not what you would expect to find in a “premium” level room. The hotel however were kind enough to offer a room swap and we were moved into a beautiful 3 bed villa with a private pool. The finish in the property was to a much higher standard and the bed comforts, linen quality was far superior and made the remainder of the trip much more relaxing and comfortable. There was the same issue with the faulty safe which would not lock so storing valuables had to be done in suitcases so that they could be locked. Sadly on our last day, we discovered that some items had been taken from the bedroom whilst we were out at dinner. A pair of wireless headphones and some cash from 2 separate wallets was missing. It was reported to the concierge services to be investigated. But there has been no follow up or correspondence from the hotel using their dedicated WhatsApp service or guest relations email address. In all, the holiday was a lovely experience aside from the theft on the last night. …

All Inclusive - Let down by Quality of Food & Drinks Spacious clean facilities and the patience of the reception staff is commendable - especially Elizabeth who was pregnant and on her feet whenever I saw her throughout her long shifts. The entertainers were also brilliant considering the midday heat they were working in. I had no problems with the water outage and electrical problems - the latter possibly being my fault till I got the hang of how the electricity worked. I met some other lovely 'solo' travellers too. I felt safe in the resort at all times - except from the mosquitoes at sunset if I was at the beach. However, some of the food and what came across as adulterated alcohol needs remedying. Drinks were unnecessarily sweetened. Icecream was literally just inedible cream, the guacamole 🥑was devoid of real avocado and the quality of the meat ... !! I was suprised that the resort did not appear to support the local fishing industry by having 'Catch of the Day' on the menu. …

Had a great week here at Dunas Melia, resort was v quiet for us with a low season feel, we loved having vast spaces to ourselves that said all staff were great and couldn’t do enough to look after their guests but especially the level guest hosts who brought a smile to every moment and usually a recently ordered drink, special shout outs to Maria, Solange and Leo, tended to go with a la carte food (we were on level) booking was a tad tedious but food was generally excellent and level brekky lovely, you can’t beat a sunny beachside hotel such as this and we will be back no doubt
