Hotel's Favorite
Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Morabeza and had a wonderful time. We had been recommended this hotel as it is smaller than the large all inclusive style hotels which suit us better. A family owned hotel with lots of personal touches. The website images do not do the hotel justice as it was even nicer in real life. The terrace area for breakfast and dinner was beautiful. We found plenty of sunbeds available by the pool and on the beach. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. Lots of extra touches such as free archery lessons and yoga classes. Had some massage treatments which was top class. Beach bar area is stunning and the beach and sea is simply amazing. Santa Maria village offers plenty of local shops, bars and restaurants all at a very decent standard. Weather was great all week with just a light breeze. We couldnt fault anything and all of our family said they would love to come back again and would thoroughly recommend.

The Hotel is exceptional for room standard, entertainment, and Food, although the breakfast buffet wasn't up to the standard of other hotels I have stayed in. The Beach club lunches were superb, and the dinners, both in the Palmiers restaurant and the Tortue were excellent. My only criticism, we booked the Palmier suite, thinking it was the best accommodation but found it's proximity to one of the pools, which we had been told was adults only, in fact wasn't, and within two days of arrival was overwhelmed by a very large and noisy family. My recommendation, if you prefer less shrieks and screams, book accommodation in the Executive block the other end of the resort.

Lovely place oldest hotel on the island and still family owned.
I was told by a guide they looked after their staff so much better than other hotels in the area paying nearly twice the normal amount and really caring.
Great spot right in the beach and the front borders the Main Street.
Very clean and tidy people constantly cleaning even the sun umbrellas.
Three pools lots of padded sun beds no need for sad people to get up early and put towels out.
We upgraded to a suite, two verandas one over looking the pool and one the sea.
Big lounge and bedroom ,great shower and big bath.
Breakfast limited but fine hot choice lots and lots of different cold offerings ,bread cakes fruit you name it.
Being British nice tea and boiling water unlike the hot water coffee machine disappointment.
Beware the sparrows if you leave just an inch not covered when you are not at the table will drink and eat anything they can get at.
Great restaurant in town all a few minutes away.
Never felt unsafe people so friendly, will ask if you want to buy something but say no thank you and will not hassle you.
Thinking about the difference between here and the Caribbean.
People both layer back and friendly.
Felt safer here walking around.
Always breezy hot in the day but need a jacket or light jumper at night but better for sleep.
Only one or two hours time difference than the UK winter only one hour.
Less than six hours flight and lot more choice of airports to fly from.
Water in pool and sea a lot colder.
A real good alternative.
A tip if you have a private transfer leave before all the TUI coaches as it’s a bit bureaucratic getting through the airport and even with out many people in front of us took about 45mins
Hate to think if there were hundreds in front of you.
Make sure you pay the tax to enter Cape Verde before you leave home as it took a couple we met about an hour.

+1
Lovely hotel, located right by the beautiful beach in Santa Maria and the pier, but also near the main part of town so can walk to everything. Well maintained gardens and 3 nice pools, rooms clean and comfortable, and friendly staff. A nice small complex, not one of the huge modern ones, well maintained facilities and with good activities available for free in the daytime also (crazy golf, snooker, yoga, archery, board games, walking tour etc). Beach towels included for free, can change as regularly as you wish. Sun beds and umbrellas by the pool are free and plentiful, beach ones you pay for if you’re not on all inclusive package.
Delicious dinners if you choose to eat there, we did twice (we took the BnB option and felt this was a good decision as plenty of places nearby to explore for food) We had lunch on site once at the beach bar, but not our favourite and preferred to wander into the little town. Best restaurants for dinner were Chez Pastis and Marea, both small and cosy with good quality food and good service (slightly more expensive but deservedly so) Fab ice creams at Gironimo on the main street, and favourite lunches were at Funana and Atlantis.
An excellent stay, highly recommend. We switched into Exec room for final 4 nights, not a huge difference, slightly larger, with a bath and slightly better fridge and air con, but that’s all that was the difference same decor and furniture etc. You’re allowed to use the adult only pool in this section of the hotel wherever you stay. If money no object then definitely do it, otherwise, standard rooms really are pretty similar, so don’t worry or feel like you’re missing out!
Final travel tip: you can pay in Euros or local currency everywhere, and quite a few places don’t take credit/debit cards, so take plenty of Euros with you from home for ease, and if need more then plenty of easily accessible ATMs.
In summary: Go for it, book the trip, enjoy the beautiful beaches, stay here and take the time to eat out locally, we promise you won’t regret it!

An oasis of relaxed sophistication in a perfect location for Santa Maria.
Considering we stayed the second week of the Easter holidays, this hotel was very quiet and calm with only a handful of children who played happily in one of the three pools on site.
Unlike many of the other hotels in Sal, Morabeza is only a stones throw from the main street of Santa Maria yet it is kept wonderfully clean, calm and serene. The breakfast buffet was the same every day but there was plenty of choice and although we only stayed for dinner once, it was one of the best meals we had on the island.
Each day following breakfast we made our way to the sun loungers available to guests on the beach where the waiters were happy to bring you any refreshments needed and it wasn't over priced. Really good value.
All in all I would really recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to be in walking distance to the town, the beach and the activities to offer in Santa Maria. It was kept immaculately, the staff were courteous and professional at all times and it had all the activities you need readily available.
I would also recommend hiring a car from the Hertz reception onsite - we covered the main attractions at Sal easily on our own and at our own pace - it is quite an adventure and easy to get around the island.

Very good hotel, in an excellent location only a 5 minute walk from the main drag with all its restaurants. The hotel has a good decked main pool area, and two other separate private pool areas. Access to the beach is easy and the hotel even has a beach club if you want to lie directly on the sand. The sea was warm and very batheable - although strong currents make me question if it so child-friendly. The room was pleasant enough, clean and tidy, with a large balcony overlooking the garden. A ceiling fan helps to cool it down. Bathroom ok.
The one comment I have for the hotel is that they should change the door to the toilet. Currently it is a louvre door, for ventilation I assume, but it made toilet visits very unprivate and loud! Simply changing to an insulated door would make a great improvement. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. We had a very relaxing and well-needed break here.

Very nicely situated hotel next to the center of Santa Maria and right next to the beach.
On the domain it is very quite and calm.
You have the choice to lay down at one of the 3 swimming pools or on the beach next to the beach club.
The employees are very kind and always ready to help you with questions
The food in all restaurants are all very delicious and the Following was for a half board reservation.
Breakfast is buffet
Lunch is a la carte in the beach club
Diner is in Les Palmiers restaurant and is extensive. Every night there is a 3 meal course and for every course you have 3 options.
As an alternative for diner in Les Palmiers you can ask for a credit (1900 CVE/pers) and spend it in the a la carte restaurant La Tortue.
On Saturday there is a typical Cape Verdean night with live music and a BBQ given as a buffet.
On Wednesday and Sunday there is a live band which plays in La Tortue bar/restaurant.

We visited the Morabeza with my sister and husband. Two of our party have been ill with sickness , take care when eating raw fish at the beach bar.
We had room 237 with partial sea view. We moved from a room overlooking the pitch and putt at the rear of the hotel because of a filthy looking bathroom.
The 200 block is situated nicely on the hotel grounds, sadly pigeons nest outside our door leaving horrid bird poo to step over every morning. Not thoroughly cleaned up by the maids.
On a positive note the hotel has charm, learn to creole dance with the locals , go to the fish restaurant near the pier only open in the day only called Sical, amazing fish and salad.
Take the hotel village tour, quite an eye opener as to how the locals live.
The cocktails at the beach bar are great, lunch at the beach bar good, avoid the raw fish. And the sea!!!! It’s clear blue and wonderful. Breakfast average , the sparrows will nibble at your food if you leave the table.
If I came again I might book a sea view and upgrade my room although the newest block slightly away from the hotel is adult only and looks soul less.
Staff good 👌

This is the place to be if you don't like the all-in formula. Perfectly located within walking distance of hundreds of restaurants, lots of pubs, supermarkets and shops. The staff at the hotel is very friendly. The beach restaurant, only open for lunch has a great variety of food and offers great views of the ocean. The evening bar is very cosy and there is an happy hour starting at 6.30 PM. WIFI is excellent, I don't understand the complaint from other travellers. We had even WIFI on the beach. They offer a complete tour of the island, 9AM till 3PM for 30 euro. Higly recommended.

We really liked the location of the hotel as we could walk to "town". The hotel has three different buildings and three different pools. The hotel is not exactly cozy and a little bit too big for our taste but still the best deal in town with about 100 rooms compared to some of the other hotels who have hundreds of rooms. Some smaller hotels are in town but mostly in loud areas with music into the the night. The staff is friendly and the beach club restaurant good. The hotel restaurants are disappointing and there is definitively a need of more coffee machines at breakfast where two machines have to serve all and the queue is always long. Room for improvement!

We used the beach club everyday and as we had the hotel towels we were never charged for yhe beds. People without the hotel towels were approached for payment. We too were only b&b and rather ate in town or a couple of times in the tortue restaurant. Enjoy your visit, we’re back there again for the new year celebrations SUPER EXCITED
Sorry I cannot answer about the suites, but yes there did seem to be some vegan options available in the tortue restaurant and sea front bar
