We holidayed at this hotel last year and liked it so much we went back last week. Can't praise this hotel highly enough! All the staff were friendly and helpful from reception to groundsmen. The hotel was spotless, groundsmen start cleaning the pool at 6.30 a.m. and sweeping up every stray leaf!.The food was great especially O grill, had fish every meal. Nothing too much trouble for waiting staff (special call out for Eileen what a lovely lady). Special thanks also to Vania for arranging for us to have our preferred suite. There was plenty of choice in the restaurants. If I can make one tiny criticism it's that the food is very much geared to the western European palate, I would have liked to see some choice of African or local dishes, that's why we always chose fish as apart from liking it anyway, tourism and fishing appears to be the only industry. Planning on going again next year. Probably not suitable for older teenagers and singles although there is a club not 100 metres away along the beach. Ideal for young families and anyone wanting a relaxing break.

Myself and husband have just got back from a 2 week holiday here! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a two bed apartment, which had 2 bathrooms, which was great as one had a bathtub the other a stand alone shower! Like most people have mentioned, there is a kitchen, but we didn’t use this obviously as all inclusive. The iron and ironing board came in useful though. Coffee and tea making facilities were also available. The air con was great, one of the best we have ever had. A decent sized balcony with table and two chairs, overlooking garden area. Bed was comfortable and there was a comfy sofa in living area. The room was cleaned daily and to a high standard. There were plenty of toiletries provided in both bathrooms. We loved this resort, on a beautiful beach. There were two pools, one with a swim up bar and music playing, the other was a quiet pool, but also had a bar. We alternated between the two. There was the main buffet restaurant and also three a la carte ones. You had to make a reservation in the a la carte ones, which you could do as many times as you wanted. We tried them all and preferred the Italian one the best, we ate here on 3 nights, O’Grille twice and the Aqua once. The main buffet restaurant was great too. There was plenty of choice and two live cooking stations every lunch and dinner time. Gorgeous sweets too. The staff were amazing all around the hotel. The WiFi was free although it could be a bit hit and miss. There is a lovely chilled atmosphere around the resort. There is the bar next to the restaurant on the beach which was lovely and relaxing. There is also the bar in the main lobby, again a good atmosphere and on top of these, the late bar which is really modern and served great cocktails, among everything else. The entertainment was held outdoors and was local singers, dancers, drummers etc. The African night was amazing! the animation team were part of the show and they were great. We did the full island tour with TUI and it was really good. Got to see kite surfing, mirage, the blue eye in the cave, local shopping, harbour, lovely little town, also went to the salt flats and had a “float” absolutely amazing and the botanical gardens. Lunch was included and at the end of the day, we went to a bar on the beach and we all had a cocktail, while looking out to the ocean. Great way to finish the day off. We all got a little turtle ornament off the guide which was a lovely gesture. The tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable about Sal. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus into Santa Maria, which is a short distance away. We went into Santa Maria twice, the first time by the bus and back by taxi, which only costs 3 euros. second time we just took a taxi, which are always parked right outside hotel. Santa Maria has a lovely beach and a pier with locals fishing and selling goods. We went for a walk along the beach and stopped for a drink in one of the bars, looking out to sea, lovely. We also bought a painting and a couple of souvenirs from the local shops. The weather was fantastic, it was hot but windy which was lovely. There are two shops in the hotel, one sold quite a good selection of souvenirs, the other was mainly beach stuff. We absolutely could not fault our stay and were so pleased we went for two weeks and not just one. Would recommend for relaxing, peaceful, stress free holiday. Just what the Doctor ordered!

We have recently visited in June and firstly, we both wish we’d have booked for longer than a week! The hotel is lovely and clean. I’ll start with the few moans... some of the staff were a bit impolite bordering rude whilst others couldn’t do enough for you and were great it really was 50/50. We thought maybe because we were a young(ish) couple as we saw old couples treated great by the same staff - we were as polite and friendly as we possibly could. Staff that stood out as being fantastic were Marly in Ogrille and Elvis the trainee at Pasta Nostra. Patrick at the pool bar was great too. There are so many flies in the restaurants it’s such a nuisance, and could be easily solved by the blue electric lights. They have three a la carte restaurants and you have to book but they weren’t busy as we are out of season. Aqua is only open two nights which we didn’t know so we missed that restaurant. Ogrille is the grill bar on the beach front. Lunch there is great serving fresh fish, burgers, pasta etc and of course drinks. In the evening whilst it’s still nice, the food quality isn’t great. They offer steaks, ribs, tacos etc... it’s nice for all inclusive food but the quality of the meat isn’t the best, and the rare and medium steaks we ordered always came well done. In the buffet restaurant there is a huge choice of food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Although again not the best quality at all but not bad and plenty of choice. The rooms are fantastic, big open two bed apartment, although not required but it gives you a lot of space and nice open balcony. The hotel grounds are clean, well maintained. Never have to fight for a sunbed which is great, even in the middle of the day there are spare sunbeds. A lot of cats around but they are looked after and fed by the hotel. It’s only a €3 taxi ride from Santa Maria, id highly recommend the beach there for the day rather than the beach at the hotel where you can’t swim. Santa Maria is great!! Sorry about the few moans but I think they could be easily fixed. But to summarise I still think it’s a 5* and I would recommend it, we’re even considering booking again for the same time next year. We absolutely LOVE Cape Verde! We visited the sharks at shark bay and also experienced a catamaran trip where we saw wild loggerhead turtles and dolphins! Although very windy, without the wind it would feel extremely hot! Weather is beautiful!

The hotel is beautiful, very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. There isn’t a lot to do here or anywhere nearby and the evening entertainment is pretty standard. Bikini beach looks a lot better than it actually is and the prices are unreasonable. If you want a holiday where you can sit back and relax by the pool then this is the holiday for you. The weather was lovely, a little cloudy in the mornings but this soon cleared. We had a room which overlooked the pool closest to the beach. It was spacious and faultless.
