After reading some negative reviews after booking this hotel, we were dubious as to what we would find on arrival. We were in a large group of 12 family and friends (including teenagers). And we’re there for two weeks, we didn’t want to leave. While I agree this is not 5 star as you would expect in Europe, the hotel was very clean, the rooms were nice and the food was excellent, always lots of choice even for fussy eaters. If you are going to Cape Verde you know it’s for a relaxing holiday, there is not much to do, we did a quad bike tour and we went snorkelling, both were fun and great ways to see the island including stopping off in local villages. The entertainment team at the hotel work really hard during the day and night to offer something for everyone, Please do not be put off by negative reviews, we have no complaints and we had an amazing holiday, the beaches are stunning and the sea is warm and we managed to go in for a swim every day, despite people saying on here it’s not safe! We had so many laughs, we danced ate and drank as you would expect at an all inclusive, we would go back!

I really enjoyed my stay in this resort. We had all inclusive and even if I am picky eater I've always found something to eat and it is not easy feat. All was clean. I was able to swim every day even if there can be little windy environment. Staff is really nice here and resort offered great trips around the island. I would be not afraid to go back in future.

I booked this hotel on a whim because it was a great deal. Although definitely not 5* i would say 3* or 4*. Pro: We had an amazing room, although a bit tired and could use the upgrade. Views of the sea, big, clean, spacious, decent sized bathroom. The TV didn't work but we weren't going to watch TV anyway. We were upgraded on arrival, although had to pay for it at a discounted price. Pro: The staff do work hard to make you comfortable and try to cater to your every need the best they can. They are hard working and very grateful. Pro: There is a little hut down by the beach that sells excursions and experiences, We got to see turtles nesting, laying eggs at night. It was the most wonderful and surreal experience. and as an added bonus, we saw some hatching and heading out into the ocean. The guide was so informative. Another excursion we went on was to see what I would describe as one of the most beautiful beaches. It was virtually untouched as it is illegal to build upon it due to the turtles nesting. Furthermore we did a quad excursion on the beach, which allowed us to let loose and drive down sand dunes! Amazing!! Pro: The views from the infinity pool were amazing. We spent most of our evenings there. Con: The main buffet restaurant was the only one available to us as the other one was under reservation or something. (I did find it difficult to understand what many of the staff was saying as the main languages they spoke were, French and German. I didn't notice many people from the UK there, more Europeans.) Con: Food was quite repetitive, even though there were different themed nights. As mentioned we only had access to one restaurant, so if the other one was open maybe would have been better. Con: The fly problem in the restaurant was quite annoying. I mean all they had to do was close the doors to the restaurant but they kept it open allowing all the flies and bugs to come in. It did put me off my food a few times. Con: Mosquitoes were a problem, (and of course not in control of the hotel, just a tip) so bring bug spray. I did get very sick because of being bitten, although there are worse places to fall ill! Got a taxi ride into town for some medicine, but please bring your own. Pro & Con: The hotel is on raised ground so getting down to the beach is east, but coming up will make you breathless! So please consider this for mobility issues. Overall, it was a great holiday and I would return to Cape Verde, but probably not to this hotel.

The hotel it’s self has some areas where it could improve. The main restaurant could do with some reconfiguring and food stations to keep the flies out. The food itself is varied and delicious, you have the option of self serve or wait for the preparation at the food stations. Different themes are rotated to provide variety. The best part of the holiday is the animation team. Gary, Paulo, Eden, Edir, Marisa, Daniela and Jocelyn (sorry if I missed anyone out). They work so hard to make everyone feel happy and plan games, music nights and shows where their dancing and energy is amazing. I got fed the bananas this time, but it’s all part of the show and was referred to as banana man by the other guests, who would chuckle when leaving a banana on my table at breakfast. All in all a great place to have a break and do as much or a little as you want. The team will still serve you with a lovely smile! We will be back

First off, I'm sorry to leave this bad review, I may have given it a 2/5 but I do want to even out the seemingly overly positive reviews to give people an idea what they may have happen to them in case they also don't get a refurbished room and they also like their food warm/hot and to get peace and quiet during their stay. I stayed here for almost a week (I left earlier, couldn't take it anymore) and got to say that I was heavily disappointed. I've read plenty of reviews beforehand and while some already mentioned the same or similar flaws I noticed, I opted to believe the better ones. Don't be like me, believe the bad ones/read between the lines and go elsewhere. The staff are nice for the most part and most of them are helpful, so generally can't fault them. Some male staff may need to hold back on some comments though, that are not appropriate towards female guests. My stay began with 0 information but some unnecessary comments when i was accompanied to my room. As a solo traveler this caused me to feel a bit uneasy. Reception was hit or miss, when I arrived the lady at the reception was rather disinterested in talking to me and didn't tell me anything about the resort. I downloaded the app after I saw it mentioned on the key card envelope to find out about opening times and facilities. Food is another story and of course one of the main factors, given how you spend the majority of your day at the hotel: I tried the food for breakfast, lunch (also at the snack bar) and dinner. It's a buffet and unfortunately those foods i tried were cold or lukewarm at best and therefore questionable in terms of hygiene (especially the middle section doesnt seem to have working heating for the food). Maybe it'd have been warm if I was there right at opening time, but I usually went 30-60 mins after and oh boy, they're supposedly being kept warm, but for the most part they surely weren't for what I tried. Even lukewarm would be a stretch in a lot of cases. The only food that's definitely warm is the food fresh from the grill. I didn't try the salads as I didn't want to get stomach issues if they had been washed with tap water, so can't speak on that. I did get stomach issues after each meal either way though, so something surely wasn't right, I'd say some of the supposedly hot food being cold doesn't help. The selection for a 5 star hotel was rather disappointing as well. Breakfast was the only meal I ended up not feeling sick after, which is likely to do with the fact that I focused on the small selection of fruits and bread. There's 1 (!) extra restaurant you can go to, but it costs you extra. According to the app it was only open once per week (wtf) and according to the comments on here not worth the tons of money (yes, you pay extra for that). The room also disappointed me. I paid extra for a room with a side sea view, you could see the sea... when looking all across the bar's terrace and knew that this was the sea - unfortunate. I couldn't actually sit on the balcony anyway as people were constantly walking past the room and looking when I sat there. Location of the room aside, the first thing that's appalling for a 5 star hotel is that they charge you €20 for a week of using the safe. I've had that in 3 star hotels, but not a 5 star! Of course you rent it though, so that's just some money pocketing right there. Also, despite this being a 5 star establishment with ALL INCLUSIVE the mini bar costs you as well. What in the world... As i found out, my room was one of the non-refurbished ones. As such, the interior is a bit worn, rooms are not well equipped (no coffee machine, kettle etc) and decorated (no decoration whatsoever) and there's tons of ants - alive and dead. It was Ant Cemetery in the bathroom. I flagged it after my 1st night and they looked into it, but while I appreciate that's just how it is on the island, the amount of dead ants lying around in the bathroom - everywhere! - is a no-go. It was like that when I arrived and made me question how well it had been cleaned and how well they clean in general. The dust web above the wardrobe hasn't been removed on any of the days, it'll likely be there forever (go and check 2114). On my 2nd day the lock of my door stopped working, again, flagged it to reception, they said they'd have someone come out right away. Been waiting until the next morning and had to flag it again. All the time my door wouldn't lock - great feeling for a female solo traveller to have your door unlocked all night. At least I got the safe... hey, it paid off - yay? Don't expect any extra amenities other 5 star hotels provide you, you'll get soap and shower gel, shampoo, conditioner. No other amenities as any other even 4 star hotel has provided me in many different countries (e.g bathrobe, slippers, room service (even at a charge) etc.) Be aware of extremely (!!!!) loud music during the day and then an extra notch in the evenings until midnight. I wasn't aware of this being a Party Hotel and my room was right in front of the entertainment zone by the pool as well - not ideal, felt like I was in bed on a dance floor in a club - every single day! Especially when you're feeling like crap from the cold food and just wanna sleep, this is the last thing you want. I already sleep with ear plugs but when the music is entertaining probably the rest of the hotels along the beach as well, they won't help either. If you love Majorca and the German Ballerman vibes, you'll fit right in. Is that 5 star hotel atmosphere? Not for me. I tried to sleep under 3 pillows and with my ear plugs, I could still dance to the music despite all that. There's music all day too and tons of activities, which is cool if you're into that. I just wanted to chill and not have someone come up to me all the time and saying I should join this and that. I asked if I could change rooms because i dont get much sleep with the music, they said I can, but it costs extra - seriously? My last evening before my early departure was ironic, they built up a while stage and blasted from there in the evening, just as if to say: we heard you don't like the music, let's take the p*ss and add some fuel to the fire! On the upside: The pool area is generally nice, so is the beach, though you can't really swim in the ocean due to the waves and currents, i was aware of that, so all good here. More than enough sunbeds when I went end of April. Then again, the pools need some serious TLC though. The "lining" or whatever it's called isn't even and has bumps in it (pockets filled with air?), which especially in the small pool towards the ocean is a tripping hazard as it's on the staircase. I for one fell up the stairs when I went out. Thankfully only bruised and scratched my knee, but it could end worse for others. For non-smokers like me it'd be great to have a non-smoking area at the pool. The amount of times I was surrounded by vape and tobacco was truly unpleasant and I kept changing sunbeds when it got too much, but far from ideal having to keep changing sunbeds all the time (also for kids present). The gym is also hot af, as the AC is still not working (going by the comments it never has?), only went once for like 20 mins, but it was way too hot. Not how I envisioned my holiday, I contacted my travel agency and left early as not to get more sick and get more sleep deprived thanks to the music blasting until midnight and beyond. The first holiday ever that I lost weight on and that I'm leaving more exhausted than I was before I came. Not coming back here for sure, do yourself a favour and don't come here either if you value your money, food and peace.

Firstly, let me say the location is excellent. Very close to the airport and overlooking probably the best beach we have seen. The hotel has many good points. The rooms and grounds are immaculate, and the animation team and the girls in the restaurant work hard. As for the rest, not so good! Our check in experience was not particularly friendly. We were surprised to find we would have to pay to use the hotel safe in our room, and pay a deposit to use an iron and ironing board, and that we would have to struggle to carry it to our room ourselves. There were no tea making facilities in our room, and only 1 glass bottle for filling up with water. This meant lots of journeys to ensure we had fluid in our room. The pool area is big with lots of umbrellas and sun loungers, although it is a shame that there is not more shelter built to shield from the seemingly ever present wind off the sea. Choosing to go all inclusive means the food has to be of excellent quality, and we did not find this in the one and only buffet. There was plenty of variety, especially for vegans/vegetarians, but the selection of meats seemed to be of poor quality and was usually over cooked and difficult to eat. Breakfast was usually my favourite meal of the day, lunch and dinner less so. The only drinks available was poor quality juices and sodas from a drinks machine, along with a coffee machine, and a beer tap. The wine on tap was undrinkable in my opinion. My biggest disappointment was the cocktails. They were weak, and seemed to be poor quality pre made mixes, with no garnishes etc. they were not the special treat a cocktail should be. Some of mine came with no alcohol in them, when there should have been. We really struggled just having the one restaurant to visit, as the food available in the pool bar was pretty much what was available in the buffet, but left for longer under cover. The dried out burgers looked particularly unappetising. I was also given a piece of pork off the hot plate that was still raw inside. I would definitely do a bit more research before I booked all inclusive anywhere again. I’ve had excellent food and drinks before in other hotels, but not this one. The food tasted like budget canteen food. We did eat in the restaurant which was only open one night. We paid €55 per head and had an excellent meal, by far the best of the week, although the atmosphere in there was very limited. So, a plus for locations, views, pool and cleanliness, a huge minus for food, drinks and some customer service.

This is a one story hotel overlooking the fabulous beach which has steps down to it with a beach bar .As the sea is not really safe to swim in due to under currents a life guard was on duty The weather was good at the time but it is always breezy yet hot so watch you don't burn . Room was fine minor point could not get the TV to work , but otherwise clean and functional cleaned every day .Food excellent great choices every evening , drinks nice that there were branded drinks unlike some all inclusive hotels . Staff were all brilliant funny entertaining especially the entertainment crew who were lovely and did great shows at night and the morning wake up dance poolside We went on a couple of trips the fire eater and drummers a must at a local bar on the beach , the bar along the beach from the hotel to the right worth a visit either by walking of get a taxi nice food . To sum up it was great value and I would highly recommend the Iberostar for a relaxing break in the sun
